RE: HIVE Price and Why I Am Not Worried

in #hive3 months ago

It's funny how everyone bashes hive but no one say a thing on btc that was at 126k and is now at 78-76, that's almost half the price, but it's btc so can't talk about it...

If people are worried now for the price, wait US strike on Iran to see a real drop of all crypto, remember what happened to the prices last year when Israel attacked Iran

Cobtrarian seems just to be a follower of the golden rule buy low and sell high😄

That said on hive there are too many extractors with 20+ KE getting too many autovotes, big votes etc... Also most of posts have no attractive value for an outsider, like "my hive goals, my splinterlands rewards, silver chart, gold chart, etc", you can't bring new users like this, it's a sort of bubble feeding with its own bubble

Sort:

I saw Hive at 0.60, I think, in January 2025. But I didn't see Hive soaring with BTC at a new all-time high of 126k. But today I see Hive at 0.08. It's cause for concern, whether you like it or not.

Perhaps it's because we are "very close" to HIVE, and that has some kind of a "sentimental value"? Haha!

That's a big mistake. Falling in love with projects, especially games. I invested a lot of Hive in many games, and they ended up being a waste of money. Now I use different criteria. I check if it's profitable or not, and the first thing I look at is the payback period. This is crucial in the Hive network, where you often end up with a miserable return and a payback period of many years in a short time.

Yes, emotional maturity is something that is very underestimated in this segment. People should be more aware of how their emotions control them.

In this case, reason must always come before emotion.

That's a big mistake.

Life is far more than mere money. Monetizing everything will degrade you until you aren't even human anymore. Not saying you're doing that, but that's a sentiment you seemed to be expressing in your comment. Mike Tyson once said that his promoter, Don King, would sell his mother for a dollar. That's not how civil society becomes more valuable to people, but how they become worthless when people and relationships become tokenized.

It is because so many people so misunderstand what is truly valuable that I strive economically to exchange goodwill as much as possible.

Just in general, falling in love with trades is a bad idea.

I really liked SPL but was never trying to get rich off of it.

Nice to see you using different criteria and looking at paybacks. Payback period is a good metric to use imo.

Look, the only game I'm not interested in making profitable is Rising Star. I started playing it during the pandemic, and it helped me during that time. Rising Star is how I found Hive. I've played many games on Hive, and they tend to be unprofitable or have a very long payback period.
For example, the Arcade Colony casino game. With one post, you can earn more money than you would in a whole year spending money on and playing the game.

I started playing it during the pandemic, and it helped me during that time.

That is a good story. I have no problem with Rising Star and wish it great success.

It's real. July 2021, I opened a Hive account to play Rising because I saw videos on YouTube by FdeFlash and Liuke about Rising.

Don't underestimate gaming. NFTS can be worth a lot of money. Getting into the right game when it first starts can make you rich. You can also lose it all. Nobody has a crystal ball.

How much HP do you need to win 5 hives in 6 hours of voting?

How much HP do you need to win 5 hives in 6 hours of voting?

I think it depends on what you vote on 😅

Just in general, falling in love with trades is a bad idea.

Not a good love affair, haha!

If you bring a geopolitical scenario into this discussion, things are going to get very ugly indeed. However, it is a scenario we must consider if we want to be realistic on a global scale.

We have seen that past year how geopolitics influences crypto so it's a thing to consider

Hive is down 98% plus. Comparing to a trillion cap Bitcoin makes no sense at all.
A better comparison is other 10 - 100 million cap cryptos.

I got your point, but I still think the comparison is valid to make the subject more "personal".

Yes, ignoring or neglecting this scenario is a beginner's mistake. Everything is connected, and it moves the tide in opposite directions.

Bitcoin is not even down 50% yet
Hive is down over 98%
There is quite a difference.

Hive didn’t participate in bull cycle and broke its past cycle actions, bitcoin hit a high same time it always does and is following its same cycle as always. You can’t seriously compete a 38 million cap item & trillion plus item. Come on.

It doesn't make sense compare an all time of hive with not even 1 year of bitcoin, the 2021 peak was just anomalies due to splinterlands also who seriously would enter at that pumped prices? ... Check from summer, hive 0,25 now 0,08, bitcoin 110k now 78k

Facts! As much as I love Hive community, the trashing Bitcoin I’ve never understood. The Leo community was calling bitcoin dead in 2020 , at least guys like John & Taskmaster. It’s silly. You indeed can’t compare Bitcoin to Hive. But for all the great people on Hive there are 10 fools. People on Hive trashing Bitcoin is a good test if they are fools are not.

Hive participated in the bull market in a different way, with several pumps. Delicious pumps that I didn't enjoy because I had Hive in HP.

It also had its own bull market cycle, I believe, going from 0.15 to 0.60 between the last months of 2024 and January 2025.

Yea I think that is a good catch on what could happen to Bitcoin if there is a military conflict. One pro and con to Bitcoin is it is fairly easy to just dump it like crazy. Bitcoin is WAY more susceptible to emotions of traders than most assets are.

Most stock market's have "circuit breakers" which is basically where they just stop people from trading if prices dump too much 😅

That said on hive there are too many extractors with 20+ KE getting too many autovotes, big votes etc

Yea I have a hard time even understanding why this is happening. Like the people who get auto upvotes, that is a nice heirloom imo. I am not sure why so many users on here just sell all their HIVE when they could be leveraging the auto upvotes they receive to build a stake and curate with it.

Also most of posts have no attractive value for an outsider

Yea I agree. There are good posts on here but they are hard to find. I think the idea originally is good posts would get on trending but that doesn't really happen that often 😅

The high KE accounts aren’t effecting price near what the HBD stabilizer do & DHF overall. There are whales powering down far more. This is a silly distraction. Do the math.

How much does the HBD Stabilizer cost the chain?

That's why I don't do trading on crypto, too much volatility 😄 I have faith in hive and keep stacking, not here for trade, I rather keep going with my sport trading that has way less fluctuations and give easier room for a stop loss before bleed

I would disable the auto vote feature, at least people would be forced to check who they are voting to, if the user after getting some autovotes just start spam crap or extract and such

I would disable the auto vote

How? I completely agree that automating social interactions is absolutely the death knell of social media. We didn't come here to interact with AI. If we want to talk to bots we can subscribe to an LLM. We come here to interact with people, and every action we take here should be personal.

But the code doesn't enable that restriction in it's present form.

Need some dev work for sure, for the next nodes update, then I guess they can just disable somehow... Not sure how to bring that up to the devs or feel the community sentiment over a change like that

they can just disable somehow

There's no capacity presently to disable scripts or socks. The only tool Hive really has to discourage behaviours is DV's, and it's impossible to tell an autovote from a manual vote unless people using autovoters tell us they use them. The platform has dozens of mechanisms scripted in that add functionality to the chain, and anything we did that disabled autovoters would wreak havoc on all of them.

Oracles that enable identifying actual unique humans that Ned discussed before bailing might enable us to differentiate socks from 'mains', but that still wouldn't disable autovoters without disabling all sorts of useful and beneficial scripts, like ArcHive, all the various blockchain explorers, and the front ends themselves, as I understand it.

For sure! That Bitcoin volatility gets wild sometimes….def not for everyone 😆

I feel the same about HIVE longterm and I will keep stacking myself.

I understand how you feel about auto upvotes. I have talked to other people who have a similar sentiment as you. I’m not sure what disabling it even looks like or if it would work longterm.

What do you mean by sport trading? Sounds interesting!

It would be interesting to try but I reckon there are a lot of people even with big stake using it a lot not to manually curate so I can hardly see it coming...

Sport trading is basically the same as any financial trading (or trading on hive engine) but done with quotes of events (1 X 2) instead of shares or tokens, market maker style with buy/sell sides... I usually trade the draw so I place a order to buy the draw (let's say like at 3,55), wait to get paired then I place a sell order on the draw (lets say at 3,5), when someone buy it, I earn the difference (0,05 in that case), keep repeating this over time and then cashout BEFORE the match start so you are never really doing any bet... Not sure if it's clear enough, that's an example of a trade closed

That’s super interesting! I’ll have to check that out. I probably won’t get too into but I still want to research it and understand it better. Thanks for sharing!

It gave me good satisfactions, some other people really skilled at it made like 200-300€ per match... 'Prematch sport trading' / 'betting exchange' should give enough results, in Italian there is really a little about the prematch like i do (on betfair), I have learn the basics from a guy and developed myself then

You welcome!
