This post is meant to call the attention of active Hive users which have an elected witness who is not producing any blocks(or providing updates regarding the status) since March but it was not deactivated by the administrator (which can be done by setting the Witness key to STM1111111111111111111111111111111114T1Anm).

In order to decrease the amount of missing blocks, giving slightly more stability to the network, I recommend the removal of votes for dead witnesses like @coingecko, which keeps missing all blocks daily since before Hive even forked.

I'm sorry, @coingecko. You provide us with great services in cryptoeconomy reporting, but your Hive witness is not deactivated and is missing all blocks since March 20^th.

This is the second post I created about the dead witness subject. I do not intend to make a post about any witness who is deactivated or who missed a few blocks recently. Those calls are only for witnesses which are set as active(with a valid key) but are missing all blocks for several months.

You are quite right to be drawing attention to dead witnesses.
There are a huge amount of them taking votes from the living.

I've just become a witness in the last week and have learnt how to run a node and keep a price feed up to date.
Its not that hard and I was doing it on a Windows PC.

I do this as a palliative measure against something that annoys me a bit, which is the huge support dead witnesses have that keep living ones from achieving a Top100 status.

I say palliative because a solution I hope one day gets implemented is the one I described on my Witness topic.
