I am happy to share that Freechain has been picked up by Al Jazeera. The fifth biggest news media network in the world with almost 400 million households watching them.
This is what I have been working on for last year and it has finally come to fruition. This is set up to potentially be the biggest exposure event for the Hive origin story, our contribution to the overall crypto story and is the reason why Freechain wasnt shared on Youtube or X. If it was I would have never been able to make this deal.
The goal for Freechain was never to make a film that would just be viewed by a couple hundred people following Hive social accounts as that would provide 0 value to Hive or justify the expenditure in any way whatsoever. The goal was always to create something with wider appeal, with wider reach that can benefit this amazing community and spread knowledge about the crypto ecosystem and the values it so proudly presents that have been hidden, tainted and almost twisted by the current narratives of memecoins, quick profits and worthless gambling.
I can finally say with no fake sense of humility that I have finally achieved what I have strived for with this film.
And because of that I am immensely proud.
We have passed QC last week and now the film is being dubbed into Arabic. Other details on where, how many times, and when it will be shown havent been clarified yet, that info will be shared in the coming weeks.
Also Freechain is curently being evaluated by an Italian media network, if that will pass or not, i have no way to know but I am mentioning it because this isnt the end for Freechain. We will continue reaching out with the film.
I want to thank the community for their patience and trust. I know it wasnt easy, I know there were questions and criticism but with anything worth doing, it takes time, it takes effort and results DO NOT come over night as much as many of us might wish.
But they do come.

Although Al Jazeera is known for its pro-terrorist content, it has moderated of late (due to Trump pressure) and is a huge potential audience.
Is it being shown in English as well as Arabic?
I would not say Freechain in any way relates to any political position any media network might or might not have, I am just grateful they recognized the film as valuable to show to their audience.
The largest adjustment to the film was removing text and splitting audio into different channels so it can be dubbed. This actually took almost 2-3 weeks to do properly as it required a more than insignificant amount of editing and discussion with them. 😅
They have our English version but have shown a need to dub it so it will definitely be in Arabic. That I know for sure. Maybe other languages as well.
Geez the comments in here, you can tell morale is quite down due to prices, lol.
Either way, this is quite big, I don't think this chain has ever gotten such a spotlight before so let's hope it leads to more attention to our chain. Whether or not crypto speculation is haram as someone mentioned does not mean people can't use Hive. We're known to be nice and friendly to newcomers with our layer 1 inflation, we just need users and demand for attention here; everything else comes after.
This film had a goal I set for it achieve when the proposal passed and we are now going in that direction. What kind of benefit this exposure will bring we will see over time.
You set a goal and strive to achieve it. Thats the best any of us, I feel can expect for any proposal on Hive.
And yeah, morale is hit for sure, I can understand that, but i think a win is a win even when the times arent great🙂.
I have to say I am not impressed, given the extended time period that has passed. Who cares about a years old hardfork of a completely unknown blockchain?
Besides, speculation with cryptos is for many muslims considered haram.
Well, id say that then theres probably nothing that would impress you. You wanted an update, you wanted results, I gave you both. Not happy? Nothing I can do really about that.
One of the biggest media networks in the world does apparently. And the fork isnt the film. Theres much more to the film.
Why would you even criticize a product that is trying to make Hive "not an unknown blockchain". Why promote Hive? Its unknown. Why post about it? Make anything about it. Why invest in it?

Every activity has opportunity costs. Funds and resources spent on this film could have been spent more efficiently. Time works against us. Nowadays a 10 sec. Tiktok video can go viral and reach millions. Who in 2025 has the the willingness and the attention span to watch a 45min documentary on abstract topics?
Would you now again go for such a monumental approach or rather go for something cheaper, quicker, nimbler and smarter?
Do we actually want people with TikTok brains or ones that will watch a 45 min documentary?
True decentralisation, as embodied by the Hive Hardfork, is very difficult to achieve and few people really understand what it is.
Hive is the ONLY blockchain other than Bitcoin to achieve true decentralisation. Just look at how many blockchains went offline when AWS went down!
Thus the Hive HardFork is as important a historic event as the creation of Bitcoin and Satoshi's disappearance.
Decentralisation requires the Founder(s) to be killed off. This is very hard to do.
This documentary is the right sort of medium to promote a complicated concept like HIVE.

That's great as I've been wanting to see it. It's not a channel I would usually watch, but we have it in English on the free terrestrial TV service (Freeview). I'm sure these things take a lot of work, but it gets the message out. Please let us know when it will be transmitted.

I understand also different opinions on documentaries - they could be broadcasted later as we see in history channel - ideally it will be broadcasted as long as Hive is alive.
