Good friends, dinner and Cryptos

Time flies

When you're having fun.

Catching up

Yesterday there was another Hivian meet 'n greet with good friend @smasssh. He drove all the way up North from the Center of Nederland. This was the fourth time. No more curfew nonsense. Which made things more easy, no ticking of the clock pressure. A good start of the weekend. ¹

We had a lot of catching up to do. Not one moment where the vicar walked by. (Directly translated from a Nederish saying, meaning there was no long silence.) Current affairs, crazy times, where media became the virus of the mind. And of course: Cryptos talk. Shared my latest addictive Geek pleasure: Atomic Swap trading using the Decentralized Exchange {DEX} technology of the Komodo Blockchain. It is fun to talk about it with like minded people.

Although I can go into a somewhat overdrive mode at times. Forgot to take Ritalin again. Kidding, I only use amfetamine injections. Anyway when my Geek mode gets triggered I become very enthusiastic. Had fun demonstrating how Atomic Swaps function. Buying more BitcoinZ {BTCz} (thousands and thousands) with Komodo {KMD}. And some old-timers like Terra- and Feathercoin, they're up for grabs. (Got up around 6 this morning and Swapped me some more, guess it can get addictive...)

Had planned to cook some Indonesian inspired food. One thing I like about having good people over is having dinner together. Sharing food, having a good time and going for that second plate. Talked about Cryptos and investing, what way to trade and of course why we would never buy a bloody fucking Tesla. Mister Musk might seem intelligent yet he never had a good look into Cryptocurrency mining...!? Anyway, he is wrong, Bitcoin hardly uses 0.6% of all the electric energy used on earth. Where it does not pay any return at all to use standard 'grey' or 'brown' energy, that is way too expensive. Here in Nederland it costs about € 0.25 per KwH. Crypto mining that way is a given loss, from the very first start. So if one industry would be in favor of renewable energy, then it is the Cryptocurrency mining one.

Guess mister Musk yielded under the pressure of the Climate Change Maffia and its biased Media. But Tesla are keeping their BTC, until its more energy friendly. It is a bit hypocrite I think, because what source of energy will charge the batteries of an electric car and how environment friendly is the production of these cars? (Lithium mining, anyone?)

After dinner we got to HIVE as the subject. The questions do not seem to end about how to onboard new members, how to get people interested and wen moon. But apparently using the HIVE blockchain is not as easy as some so called 'social' media platform. Even when HIVE can give a possible payout. The Hive blockchain has got a great wallet, yet it is called Keychain, or something like that. Got it installed on my smart phone. And there it proved to be a great Wallet, with a Key Vault. Although not all of the Hive-Engine values are as they should be. If I want to send 1 Satoshi of SWAP Bitcoin {BTC} I cannot do that yet. (Why on earth would I want to do that? Well, I'll get back to that in a follow up publication.) And then there was this weird thing where wanting to install the Keychain Extension on the Opera browser was leading to the version that HIVE forked off from. But among the proposed browser extensions was the Hive Keychain. Guess that might get a bit confusing for people who want to get onboard.

But after a few curses, about how Firefox sucks big time and concluding that Opera is the best of all, Smasssh was able to use the Hive Keychain with many dApps and interfaces build on top of the Hive Blockchain. Next up was TradeOgre dot Com, last of my favorite Centralized Exchanges {CEX}, no KYC nonsense. In the meantime it had turned dark outside. Time flew by, it was great fun, lots left to talk about for another meet 'n greet in the near future. But Smasssh still had a couple of hours long drive ahead. And for me it was time to go to bed. My biological clock had an early call again this morning, not even 6 o'clock and I was wide awake. After the morning rituals I fired up my laptop, did some more Atomic Swaps and typed this after that. Next up a long walk with the neighbors dog. Would be nice if it stayed dry.

Have a great one!

Part of the fun we talked about: Atomic Swaps.

¹Edit: changed the intro, it did not fit in with the rest. Maybe for a future story 'The Northerners', an anarchronistic satirical tale.

Had quite a few things to handle yesterday mate. For that reason I read your post just yet.

Just like every previous "get-together" we've had sofar, this one again was a 'GREAT ONE' (as you have the habit to finish your posts with).

Although next week I'll be celebrating my 4th year on (S)Hive, and still had to ask you (compared to me an expert) to update my "Hive-settings" a bit, confirms I guess the fact that Hive on the "user-friendly-side" still needs quite a bit of improvement.

Anyway, again thanks for your hospitality, the excellent food and great talk. Already looking forward to next time.

P.s. Trip home I broke that record with 15 minutes, hahaha.

Guess you've let the HP roar on your way home. 😁👍

It was my pleasure Amigo!
Cheers to the 5th!
