Follow Friday: Security blanket

The News

Although the $HIVE price is not zooming up it is good to see it staying ahead of the legacy crapcoin. Talking of crap, it is amusing to see our old nemesis Justin Sun fighting a Trump crypto project. I can hope they both lose.

Prices from @coingecko

Meanwhile on the chain that matters, @asgarth reported on @peakd developments and @ecency have plenty going on too, including a new wallet.

Security is vitally important and @louis88 has been using AI to find issues with various projects. There are projects like Mythos that do this very well and you can bet that the bad guys will exploit anything they can.

Friday Follows

  • @akipponn is having fun with 3d printing. This is relatively cheap now. Of course we have a community for it.
  • As well as being a prolific musician @ravenmus1c is donating crypto income to animal charities. It would be great to see more charity activity on Hive. On the old Tsu platform charities could get verified so that people knew they were legitimate and be confident of donating.
  • We have lots of people sharing their exercise activity here. @normie.fitness likes to get into what actually works. He has plenty of experience in this area.
  • @cutehive.com have a tool to let you check on witness activity. You want your votes to go to those who are doing a good job.
  • Another source of Hive news is @hivetoday. They are also on Mastodon where I follow them. If you use other social platforms then please support Hive projects there so that they get more exposure.
  • Hive Open Days in Alicante is next week. @tibfox is creating badges that let people easily create Hive accounts.

The Dog House

This is not calling out anyone in particular, but my general advice to people on Hive is to act like a human. With so many bots around you do not want to be mistaken for one. If your comments just recycle parts of a post then they can look fake. Go for quality rather than quantity with your comments to actually have conversations with people. That is more likely to lead to good results. If you use 'AI' then make it clear that you do.

I get that people speak different languages and so may use some tools to communicate, but always be genuine. Form communities related to where you are and what you are into. It only costs about 3 $HIVE to create a community and this gives you some options for moderation to keep it on topic. Just be sure to back up your keys!

The End

Are you still motivated by Hive? I know the price is not great, but there is nothing quite like it. I will always say that it is not perfect, but it has potential. I get frustrated by other platforms, but also by some of the attitudes here. I do not have to agree with everyone, but I can do something to help others.

Good update to the week, Very nice read.

The price isn't great but I didn't come for the price I see value elsewhere on this platform. I am just thrilled it is doing much better than Steem and Justin sun.

We have something special here even if it's not perfect (and never will be).

!BEER

As for Justin Sun and Trump and his project, I agree, they're bad people. Regarding Hive, it should go up a bit more, at least to $0.20.

I'm not a fan of either of them. They just care about money, not freedom.

It couldn't be truer, and money is the root of all evil.

I think the original saying was that the love of money is the root of all evil. Money itself is useful, but people do bad things to get more of it and some want far more than they really need.

I consider you an intelligent and respectable gentleman, as well as disciplined, and I would like to ask you a question: if you lived in Venezuela and only had the capacity to save $50 per month, what would you invest that money in?

I'll take that complement, but it's hard to say when I don't know much about the cost of living there. I am not sure if I can say that Hive is a great investment right now, but then earning a few bucks can make a difference when wages are low. I am not much of an investor. I have some tax-free savings and a pension, but do not buy shares or play the markets. I am more interested in the technology of Hive than the finances. I consider myself lucky that I do not have to worry that much about money, but then I've had decent jobs and don't have expensive tastes.

appreciate your opinion; I'm considering investing $50 a month in Bitcoin.

Indeed, many even make pacts with evil entities in order to become the most powerful on the planet

I still have a lot of faith in Hive even though the price might not be where we want it.

Thanks for the friday follows list. Awesome people all of them.

I think it is important for us to highlight the special potential of Hive, even if the price is not going up for a while.

We are the marketing department. That is decentralisation.

Update: @steevc, I paid out 12.968 HIVE and 0.000 HBD to reward 9 comments in this discussion thread.

Kudos to @ravenmus1c !
