The News

Happy Friday! I will start as usual with the price chart I generate. Things have been fairly flat this week, but a lot of coins had a mini dip at the start of the month. It was good to see lots of people power up for #HPUD and some added a lot. With the current price that is worth doing if you have confidence in $HIVE (vote it up!). You can see some stats for HPUD here.

Prices from @coingecko

I did my bit this week by attending the Tokenize:LDN event where I met up with some Hivers. @adetorrent went both days and has posted with lots of photos. @mcsamm and @collinz were there to talk about the @wellsforall project. I briefly saw @lordbutterfly who was talking business with various people. I wanted to be there to see @alessandrawhite talk about Hive and she did great.

I was chatting to Alessandra's other half @bitterirony about various things. One subject we thought needs more exposure is how to get funds in and out of Hive. He was trying to buy some $HIVE via Binance, but had issues finding ways to trade it. How you can do this may vary according to where you are in the world, so we need feedback on how people do it.

The Hive Creator Days is happening in Alicante, Spain in late April and you can get a free ticket. I have not decided yet if I will go.

@peakd have some updates that include the ability to indicate which aspects of a post were created using 'AI' tools. I think people should be honest about this and let others judge the value. Some have tried to hide it, but they tend to get caught out.

Friday Follows

  • @arcange does a summary of how Hive is doing each month.
  • @therealwolf updated the hive.io site. It has some cool real-time updates about the chain and includes photos from various events to show our community.
  • I will plug my band @themoonshots who played a gig at a stately home last weekend. All of the band have Hive accounts, but the others are not as active as me. I will say again that being able to set beneficiaries on posts is a killer feature as you can reward people who might not get much otherwise.

The Dog House

I do get frustrated when people feel they are being driven away from Hive. I saw an example this week with @sentipl. They have been posting weekly statistics about @risingstargame that give some idea of how it is going, but someone decided this did not deserve rewards. I am unclear on the exact reasons, but they were doing daily posts for another game. None of these were getting massive rewards (sometimes zero), so it was not exactly draining Hive. Others do stats posts that are mostly automatically generated, but they can have value to others.

I generate my #britlist posts with a script once a month, but I do include some manual commentary. I do not worry too much about my rewards, but I have not had objections to that.

Some will say this is a fault of Hive, but it is individuals doing the downvoting and everyone has opinions. Downvotes are necessary to prevent abuse of the system, but not all will agree on what counts.

I used to be involved in dealing with things like plagiarism, but have not done it for a while and I leave others to make up their own minds on how to act. I may get accused of various things, but I have no influence over what other people do and I have no inclination to get into or encourage feuds. I think that sort of behaviour is unhealthy so I avoid it.

I have always thought that Hive should be open to all opinions. We do not have to agree on everything and I really do not care if people earn a little from expressing themselves when others think they deserve it. I am not a fan of self-votes though as it just seems wrong. Opinions will vary on that too.

The End

I need to do the #BritList this weekend, but I was having some issues with my scripts since I had to reinstall my PC so I will see how it goes. I have hopes that we can reinvigorate the UK Hive community and get more events happening.

Enjoy your weekend and Hive five!

Thanks for the shout out @steevc . I always look forward to these weekly reports and would definitely love to see a definitive post on the best way to buy Hive so we can keep the power ups coming!

I am interested too. I ought to try another one via my crypto card. I've heard people mention SimpleSwap as it does list $HIVE.

Interesting read and a good wrap up to the week.

AI is certainly an incredible technology, I sometimes utilise it to rewrite certain sentences if they seem abit bland for my liking but I always want to be authentic me as im showcasing myself.

Glad to here the London event was great from what i have read from various users it seems like it was a great success.

Looking forward to the upcoming #britlist as im eager to find some users to follow and engage with :)

Have a great weekend.

People will use various tools, but it's what they say that counts. I think I have things working for the Brit List. Just need to tweak a few things.

I'm glad Hive was present at the event :) Also, Alicane will be a blast, I'm definitely coming there. In fact, I was one of the first ones who got a ticket :)

Thanks for the update.

I am not a fan of self-votes though as it just seems wrong.

Gets me thinking of the impact of little white lies that get told and it is not too bad until the lies get bigger and more frequent.

Opinions will vary on that too.

Why I stick to facts.

!ALIVE

I'll probably be doing another power up before the next HPUD comes around. We will see.

I tend to save mine up to boost the numbers.

Time to go on powering up 😉

Hive.io definitely needed a revamp

Well auto-generated reports where you just press a button, generates and publish, doesn't really add value without even a personal comment... Rewards can be set to burn anyways

Burning rewards is an option, but the value is in the content and not always how it was created. The debate continues about 'AI' content as anyone could prompt for that. I don't even use it to get images generally.

Yeah ai images on post looks so ugly, the typical ai ones are so ugly...

the value is in the content and not always how it was created
That's a good point

Nice summary. There seems to be a war against template posts these days. Some of these templates and collations have been around for years. A few people may not be interested in them but if they are not plagiarisms who are we to say if they are good content or bad content.

I think there are some accounts who churn out daily stats posts, but if it is weekly or less then it cannot earn too much. With so many auto votes it can be tempting to milk it, but I try to add value to mine.

I'm not sure it can really count as a 'war' as it is just a few individuals who tend to object. They may just have a lot of power. Such is Hive.
