Work Immersion : Full of Learning and Experience ( First Week )

When I was first assigned to our school, I was initially uncertain about the placement. However, I was fortunate to be given the option to choose another location where I could contribute my skills and knowledge for our 80-hour requirement.

The new opportunity led me to the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), which is a vital government agency in the Philippines. BFAR is dedicated to the development, management, and conservation of the country's rich fisheries and aquatic resources. This agency plays a crucial role in ensuring the sustainability of marine life and freshwater ecosystems, which are not only essential for biodiversity but also vital for the livelihoods of countless communities that depend on fisheries for food and economic security.

During my time at BFAR, I hope to gain valuable insights into the various programs and initiatives that promote fishery sustainability and resource conservation. I look forward to collaborating with dedicated professionals who are passionate about preserving our aquatic environments for future generations. Engaging with the community and contributing to efforts that enhance the proper management of our fisheries will undoubtedly be an enriching and inspiring experience

On our first day, we started with orientation, where we learned how important it is to respect and care for the ponds so that the fish stay happy and healthy. The house rules prepared us for our main goal: to create a safe home for all marine life.

In our first week, we faced some challenges, including a few suspensions that limited our hands-on experience to just two days. One highlight was working on a pond with too many fish species. We used heavy nets to gently catch the fish, making sure we handled each one carefully, and this was a great chance to help the pond's health!

It was exciting but a little nerve-wracking as the fish can easily pass through if not done properly. This experience greatly increased my appreciation for the delicate balance of our ecosystem and underscored the importance of our role in preserving it. I can't wait to see what we achieve together moving forward, and I hope to share my experience in the future.
