On Monday morning I was up at 4:30AM and got my post up. Then I cleaned up the kitchen and laid out the equipment for processing peas. I was out in the Small garden to pick peas by 6AM. I’ve already written about what I found.

But I did get quite a few sugar pod peas.

When I realized I wouldn’t have many peas to do, I decided to take a day off and watch movies. I got a shower when I came in and got started on peas.

So I was supervised while I watched a movie and shelled peas. I got them processed and the kitchen cleaned up by 8:30AM. I got 2 pints of sugar pods. I got the laundry started for the week and sat down to watch a movie.

I went to the doctor’s appointment and was home again by 1PM. Back to the movies while I ate lunch.

This is how we watch movies.

At 2PM I heard someone come in and thought it was my brother. But it was Tom with the milk order and a huge box. My general helper and I use large pieces of cardboard boxes that have the heavy glossy paper on the outside when we work in the gardens. Her dad had bought a lawnmower and she sent the big box to me.

The cardboard sheets protect us from wet, hard wood chips, and cold. The pieces can last up to a couple months, depending on how often they are used in wet. I was getting low on them.

The boxes had to be thoroughly inspected. I proceeded to take them apart and cut them into usable pieces.

I got about 10 pieces and that should last me the best part of 2 years.

Stirfry crop July 2024.jpg

My brother and I had planned to make a stirfry to use up a couple of the zucchini, a red cabbage, the few peas I had gotten, and other vegetables. I had thawed a ground chicken and we seasoned that with sesame oil, tamari, ginger, onion, garlic, celery salt and pepper. It was really delicious, but a bit hot for an evening at 91F.

On Tuesday morning my brother and I plan to get 4 more of the big windows done and screens in before he goes to work. It’s to be very hot and humid again, so I might just stay in the office and try to finish the bills/budget.

Stir fry looks yummy yummy.

Supervisor isn't watching the movie with you, I caught him napping... 😀 And he stays in all the best places.

Dinner was a gourmet!!!

I can't shell peas. It's always five for me, one for the pot.

How I wish I can cultivate the habit of waking up very early just like you. I can see you really didn't work much

This is looking so yummy
