HIJACKED SYMBOLISM

The swastika is a fascinating graphic. I've been fascinated by it since I was a kid. Elementary school, about 6th or 7th grade, when I went to the school in the Jewish neighborhood. I saw one of my friends drawing it on a school book. My first glimpse of it wasn't in the context of graffiti or "hate speech." I thought it was called a "swats sticker."
Over the decades I learned what the graphic symbolized to Jews, to Nazis, to history, to Hindus, and eventually to history. At some point, probably in this century, I realized that the meaning of symbols is not set in stone, so to speak.
There's a pre-Israel origin story of what's recognized as the "Star of David" that describes it as a meeting of up & down triangles, symbolizing the union of male and female.
Any drawing can be adopted as a symbol of a movement and when that movement is inevitably infiltrated and begins to do evil the design becomes a symbol of that evil.
I'd suggest that the star of David is morphing into a symbol as reviled as the swastika was in the 1930s & 40s.
