I propose that we use the Steemit platform to redefine currency and governance. There are other things to do there.
There is no cost beyond a few minutes to sign up.
Crypto-Currency is in a sense fabricated out of thin air. Somewhat like the Federal Reserve, but with transparency. Imagination comes out of thin air too and Steemit will pay you for yours.
Sounds too good to be true and needs more pieces to solve our puzzles. We won't get much out of it without putting continuing focus into it.
Words and actions do not always align but, I think Steemit interests want us to help it become what we want and need. Block chain makes transparency possible and Steemit is an excellent place to start governance.

Not that concerned with fast money but we do need governance. Dreaming of fast money is OK but actually fast would go back into Steem for me, till I can manage a sustainable home development. We need governance quickly.
The manner of an individual launch can give a decided benefit from people looking for aligned talent (dolphins, whales and right from launch CURATORS). Transparency means a lot of things. I think we can consider block-chain through Steemit a place where our individual and group efforts can be kept securely transparent. Content and Steem secure. If several or more of us launch together(ish) we can immediately give each other a few pennies worth of likes, for value. Real value creating imaginary pennies with an exchange rate for other imaginary currencies like the US dollar.
They will pay us to store our individual content. Think of how many peoples content can be stored on a two hundred dollar hard drive, quantity pricing. Block security gives diverse location security as well as distributed authorization. Content remains personal property in terms of rights to use. (details available, signup agreements very readable and reasonable.) Your content is also freely available, but you are the only person that can quote or repost it without reference. Honor system but you’ll run into trouble if you cheat here academically I think.
There are about 400,000 accounts. Quite a lot less active members who regularly contribute content comments or likes. There has been a focus on content creation that has also improved taking responsibility for authorship. For some. Considering the small range of content creators compared to global input of other platforms, it has generated a lot of good content. Finding your connections and feed still will take some process. Anything you create or find can be taken to other platforms. With sources if it is not yours.
Recent changes make it a more diverse platform, with utility (feed form) similar to numerous platforms, with some advantages, developing the features we choose.
If a group interest, a few aligned individuals, sign up and present their position well, it will be noticed and gain Steem. There are people on Steemit who support things I value highly. We will find more new and more relevant sources on and through these media improvements as they develop.
Confirm for yourself some interest and introduce this post with your perspective, or writing from fresh. You will get help finding ways to use Steemit. Direct as friendly, informative offer to your existing contacts. Nobody wants spam.
Steem is much more than Steamit. Steemit is the place to learn the difference. I'm looking forward to finding out more of many platforms using Steem.

It’s not like we are tied to it. It is available.
If we are clear about what we want, clear enough to write algorithms, we can choose what to develop. We will not even need to be firm with the establishment (Steemit) to get what we choose. Programming and hardware feasibility dependent.
Part of my hesitation to join Steemit has been about the money. Is it undermining our economy or cheating valid work contributions? Small benefits for content contribution is not irrational and that becomes large if many people see some value. With money involved, will people sometimes feel like you are marketing? Yep. Make clear what you are offering. We are not asking for anything. Are there a handful of people getting rich at the top? I hope so. We can create a very large pie and negotiate a very small slice for our establishment. We can even make currency mean something rational if we decide what it means. As always the meaning of money depends on what we do with it.
Perhaps these features do not quickly bring all your contacts. Fast easy steam is rare. Compared to what? It is not difficult to contribute, find something to like. There is a lot of content I have little interest in; some content I may become interested once I understand a bit; and some content I appreciate. I got a few responses to my “introduce yourself” post but most appear to be scouting for followers without offering something clear, and with no indication anyone read the intro. Lyndsay Bowes, @inthekeyofh introduced me to Steemit, I eventually got here, and she has been a helpful and patient curator. We can use Steemit however we want. If my contacts on other platforms posted the same stuff on Steemit I would get the same feed.
Steemit is not everything and not yet what I hope it can be. If we want governance we will have to do the work. Sign up. Look at a few intro links. What have we got to lose? Earth. What have we got to save? Our dignity, our lives, our home, our data, our hearts.
