Hello from Melbourne, Australia!

in #introduceyourself6 years ago

My name is Mark, I’m a Graphic Designer living in Melbourne. I generally love everything design, art, architecture, fitouts, food and enjoy exploring new and interesting places near and around where I live, work and play.

I take many photos; things people generally may not think to take photos of, and some that everyone whip their phones out for. There’s only so much my Instagram account will accommodate before people start raising an eyebrow following the third perspective shot of an interesting ceiling light – don’t worry I’m not that bad, promise! So I’ve decided to have a go at sharing these with you here on Steemit!

What's on for the weekend?

Lots! I pretty much go out every weekend with my friends for dinner, drinks, cultural and art events, visiting the National Gallery of Victoria (love that place – I could live there), and general shenanigans. All with my trusty Samsung Galaxy S8 waiting and buzzing-ready in my pocket to capture a moment.

Come join me

So come follow me and let me know what you think of the sights and places I bring you along to, I love to hear what you all think and suggest! C’mon you know you want to….

But Mark, what are you going to shooow ussss?

Well, you’re in for a treat! I would really like to keep my posts very casual and visual, bringing you along to see the many sights my amazing city has to offer and anywhere else I decide to travel to. Keep an eye out on my trip to Japan soon, I’m super excited about that holiday! I’ll also try my hand at video editing here and there, so bear with me as I give that a try.

Art and culture oi oi oi

Melbourne has some amazing exhibitions, street art and events, and I want to give you a glimpse of some that I’ve stumbled on or have attended. Who knows you might just want to come for a visit and discover this city!

Here’s a creative little sampler from the laneway streets, there’s a cute story behind this one I’ll share with you another time (let me know if you want to hear about it):

Architecture and interior fitouts

So… I really am excited about some of the new interior design fitouts and architecture that I’ve come across. I want to have a bit of a chat about the things I like, or at least show you some creative interiors to inspire you to look for, and surround yourself with, beautiful design. Career change anyone?

Here’s a super sexy ceiling light to kick things off (made of large cardboard rolls):

Restaurants and bwars, blars… ahem… Bars

Who doesn’t like a good food pic hey… hey… aye? Maybe not so much, buuuuut I have eaten some tasty dishes here and there and as I explore the culinary delights of Melbourne and the world, I’mma gonna take a few alongside the interiors that house these yummy treats.

Mayyybe I’ll write a description or two on the place and what I enjoyed when I visited. Melbourne has some amazing and interesting bars, and I like to have a drink or two, or three – but no more than three 😉

Okaaaay check out this interesting dish out at Oakridge Winery – I wasn’t game enough to eat whatever that thing on top was… looked like it was out to hurt me:

Maaaark we want posts nooowwww

Alright, alright, you twisted my arm… I really do hope to create at least one post per week, but I’ll see how much you guys enjoy my content and that may affect how often I decide to share. So please show me your support and encourage me along the way if you enjoy what I do! Any tips (advice) would be greatly appreciated!

Where are YOU hiding?

I’m here to also discover and learn from great creative talent and like-minded people who are on Steemit and who love what I love! Omg this is starting to sound like a dating profile, but seriously, let me know you’re out there and I’ll head over and check out your blog. I want to see what inspires you, wherever you are.

Ok enough Mark, you’re starting to rant.

So I think I’ll leave this introduction post here, hope it was a good introduction and I look forward to engaging with you all soon! Cheers, Mark.

So very glad to find a fellow Melbournian on Steemit! In saying this I have been a very poor one and have lost touch with the many things going on in our city in the past 4-5 years (since kids came along). Looking forward to following your posts to see what I am missing and where to go next!
Oh and yes, please share any gems of knowledge you have on any of the funky art/sculptures and especially bars you know of!

Woohoo! I was hoping to connect with some Melburnians on here. It's never too late to explore more of Melbourne that's for sure, always something for everyone here. I've recently moved here from Canberra, so I've got plenty to explore.

Looking forward to sharing the sights. I'll head over to check out your blog soon @joshduthie!

Well welcome to good old Melbourne! I now live out closer to the Yarra Valley so I am almost never in the city, so looking forward to tracking your escapades and getting ideas for places I should get to!

The winery regions are some of my favourite, but I know what you mean it's soo far from the city you almost need to make a weekend of it.

Welcome to our community, I wish you the best of luck

Thank you so much @yoyo13skate

This really got me giggling!

There’s only so much my Instagram account will accommodate before people start raising an eyebrow following the third perspective shot of an interesting ceiling light – don’t worry I’m not that bad, promise!

Haha glad I made someone giggle, I hope to inject a bit of humour into my posts here and there. Cheers!

Yw.. and thank you for looking my blog.. ;)🌹

Welcome to Steemit and hello from Perth!

Hello hello, thanks for the welcome @crypto-toast hope you get a chance over the coming weeks to check out my posts! :-)

Welcome Mark, nice meeting you... the way your text is compiled seems like you must have been doing some considerable blogging already... and I mean that in a good way.

Hi, nice to meet you! Aaawww thank you for the feedback @splashconnect, actually this is my first blog post anywhere, so it's great hear that I'm doing it right hehe I guess I just structured it like I do with text/information hierarchy in my graphic design jobs. :-)

Hi Mark, Congrats on your intro - I'll join you soon. You have a great eye. I thought the tubes were a pipe organ at first and the strange food something torn from a rock in the tidal zone. I'm interested in what makes Melbourne unique, both downtown and in the surrounding flora and fauna. Australia seems like a very wild place with a few tamed pockets. Please keep shooting and keep posting!

Hi @nkraft thank you so much for the positive feedback! Melbourne has some great places, I'll have to post my latest trip to the Dandenong Ranges if you're interested, I went to their Botanic Gardens while I was there. Looking forward to reading your first Introduceyourself post soon!

Welcome to the community picmach! Looking forward to your posts, maybe sometimes about Graphic design? I'm a web developer lacking an eye for design which is bad.. so i need to learn a lot :D

Hi @tezcatlipoka thanks for welcoming me, I hadn't thought about including my graphic designs but I'll definitely give it a thought to include in one of my posts.

perfect, really looking forward to them..

I would loe to go to Australia some day, was in Canada, Hawaii, and Vietnam, and I love animals and I have gardens and I do art too. Thanks for sharing, hehe. I'm Oatmeal Joey Arnold. You can call me Joey.

Nice to meet you Joey! Australia is definitely an amazing place to visit, I really want to get to Canada one day, and I've heard great things about Hawaii (soo many of my friends go there for holidays!). Send me your post on one of your artworks, I've recently tried creating some resin art, which I will blog about sometime soon...

Great. Thanks. I will try when I can.

Welcome to Steemit, @picmach! Great intro :) One post per week is way too low, but at least we know it will be like your intro: quality! :) Have fun!

Thank you for welcoming me @herverisson I will do my best to post more than once a week, thank you for the tip :-)

Hi @photocircle apologies I hadn't noticed before, and I'm not sure how to private message, but thank you for the Steem curation. I greatly appreciate it! 😀

No worries, you're welcome. By the way, feel free to use #photocircle to share your amazing photography :)

Will do, thank you :-)
