Just Learning the Ropes

Hi Everyone,
I was just poking around various tabs on my HIVE page and as I was looking over the HIVEBUZZ tour tab, I saw that I had not introduced myself on this platform. So here I go:

My name is Cathleen McMahon. My nickname "Cat" was given to me in junior high but I didn't start using it regularly until I was 19 years old. Now that I am almost 53 years old, I am considering going back to my birth name, Cathleen. Many have a hard time with the nickname for some reason.

I have raised two lovely children into adulthood, mainly on my own since I married young and had kids young and was VERY niave about life. Of course that didn't stop me from making a TON of mistakes along the way, but I am still here. Still kicking.

I am a fiber artist or maybe more accurately a fiber enthusiast. I was taught how to crochet granny squares at 18 years old. Taught myself how to knit when I was 23 years old (from books since this was before youtube tutorials). I now spin roving (cleaned and processed wool and other fibers) into yarn, weave, wet and needle felt, and have even processed raw wool for various projects.

I have made several shoes from scratch. I have worked with children over the years. I started practicing yoga in 1995, teaching in 1999, and have transitioned to a more natural movement approach in the last 7 years for a variety of health and personal reasons.

I am a curious person by nature and love, love, LOVE to read. I am interested in a wide variety of topics and am a life long learner. While I may know a lot about certain subjects, I never feel like an expert and enjoy hearing a different perspective even if it is completely different than my own.

I am interested in the occult (hidden) knowledge that has been hidden in plain sight since the beginning of time. Because of my research over the decades, my belief in God and Jesus as my Lord and Savior has grown and solidified in my heart. (I NEVER thought I would be saying those words even 5 years ago. A lot has changed during my walk.) I believe we are all on a spiritual journey and my hope is that you will seek and find Him.

If you are curious and patient, I do believe your questions will be answered when the time is right. I do believe this is a time of divide and conquer programming by the "elites." I won't be taking the RFID chip and I won't sit back and watch while the world (seemingly) implodes due to the greedy olichary.

My want is to help in any way in my power. Encouragement. Information. Community support. Prayers. And just listening to what others have to say about these crazy days that we are living in. If the "elites" want us to fight each other, we need to do the opposite: build strong communities once more.

We are here for a REASON.

Never forget that. Take care, be well, and God bless!!

Well it's a pleasure to meet you. I hope you are enjoying your stay. 😁

Thank you! Me, too @notconvinced. It's nice to see so many active posters on this platform.

I see that you have your own website. What's your intentions for using Hive? I originally thought you were new, then noticed you signed up in 2017. Steemit at that time was just becoming user friendly, so I understand why you didn't stick around.

I signed up in 2016, but didn't start using the platform until the end of December 2017. Before that it was a chore to simply upload an avatar, lol.

Spinning yarn is a very useful skill. I'd like to learn to spin some myself after I find my forever property, which will probably be down near you in the Missouri Ozarks. Currently I'm caring for an elderly gentleman I met through my more nomadic life and am temporarily stationary for now.

Since I don't post much, I'm wondering how you came across my account. Your follow got my attention, then I noticed one of your articles had an upvote by me. One of the curation trails I follow must have upvoted you, so was it the vote or did you come across a comment I made?

Hello @notconvinced,

I saw a comment that you made when I was reading the thread in a post, agreed with what you said, looked at your profile and then followed you.

I left for two years to do research. If you looked at my posts during the time when the Steemit to Hive transition occurred, I was having problems posting and uploading photos on the Hive platform.

My personal website is exclusively for my teaching to announce classes, workshops, and cancellations.

When I see someone making valid points and their page looks interesting to me, I follow. I hope that answers your questions!

It does and it's funny. I lost more followers from those comments than I gained🤣. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Well, to be honest I have mixed feelings right now about this platform. There is infighting that I don't understand and really don't have time to understand. My hope is that we can all help each other during this forced "great reset." I truly believe that we can take each other it's just that we are being taught that we should be constantly afraid, and that makes me sad. Anyway, we shall see over time how this platform progresses.
P.S. I will be putting together some tutorials, spinning being one of them. :-)

The main issue is that Hive's very structure creates an Oligarchy. If this isn't addressed there will be issues in the future, much worse than we are seeing now.

The positive is there are many frontends created to address this, forks and many other competitors to choose from. There will always be division as history shows, but one doesn't need to have power over the other. I hope to have planted some seeds with my suggestions (I've been suggesting the same things for years here) and they in some form come to be.

I look forward to your tutorials, considering that type of content is mostly what I'm looking for.

You are forever young.

In my mind, at least! :-)

Welcome aboard.
I see the mean crowd has paid you a visit already.
My daily memes have a list of conversations going on offchain, if you would like to join any.
This is a pretty good introduction to what is coded here.
You will have to hang out and join the crowd to find the unwritten rules.
Good luck.

Thank you so much for the information!!! I look forward to understanding this community better. :-)

And here I thought you were the mean crowd./s

It takes one to know one, eh?
Now I have been canceled by half the mean crowd for supporting the right to say f'em.
It still makes me chuckle.

It is to your credit you find your rights equally potential to peers. Mere tokens aren't comparable in value, IMHO.

Fair, and balanced!

Hi Cathleen ... The more I question and learn the more opens up to learn more.. Finding out that life is a blackhole.. literally... There is no limit to a living cell it is so unimaginably complex. I am a simply man who wants to life a simply life in a complex cosmos but the present position we are in prevents that. Be well.

Living simply is HARD work, for sure @manorvillemike! I am currently looking at what I have and trying to install systems to simplify my workload. I want it ALL!! (And then I take a deep breath and laugh at my ambitions.) I am so glad I had the alternative-to-the-narrative lifestyle all these decades. I did not always make great decisions but I LEARNED a lot in the process. God bless and be well! Keep up the great work. You are here for a REASON!! :-)

Awesome. Welcome. I saw this post on Waivio.com …. https://waivio.com

Cool. Never heard of it. I will have to check it out.
