Reminds me of when my young son was buying a used car (with my money!) I didn't know what I was doing and he knew less. There was no point in pretending I knew anything. We went through so many (inexpensive) lemons...
My car has a button emergency brake (2018 Subaru Legacy). I don't trust it either.
