On Steemit you can make $5 a day just blogging for fun

in #life7 years ago

On Steemit someone can make $5 a day blogging

And I would understand most Americans would think $5 a day is not enough to live. $5 a day is $150 a month. $150 a month means a lot because a human can get their entire food supply off $5 a day even in the United States.

See these examples:

If a Steemit poster can just get $5 a day they can afford food even in the United States. This of course won't necessarily be tasty food but it will be enough calories to subsist. At $10 a day a Steemit poster can afford to eat very well by any standards. When you up vote a blogger on Steemit you very possibly and literally could be paying for their food.

I am from India 5$ per day is good income a small family will survive. When compared to other sites steemit is a great platform for bloggers.

Thats good to know! I have a T-Shirt designer who lives in India. Now I see why he's so excited to do work for me! I pay him around 10.00 per hour Hehehe!!! I'm glad he will be able to survive nicely.

People In India don't spent much but they keep the money for future of their children.

This is why we need to give them the crypto equivalent to compound interest. Dan Larimer can figure out how to do it.

I am fairly positive if you put your steemit into savings, they give you interest

yes, i just checked and although that function was not there at the original launch of steemit, they have in fact implemented a transfer to savings option that gives interest for locking the tokens away.

That is not accurate. The savings option does not give interest. It is just a way of locking up your funds. In case your account gets hacked you have 3 days to recover your account and reverse any withdrawals before it's irreversible.

Exactly the reason why I think Steem Power should be renamed as Savings Account (treat curation rewards as interest, although it may not reflect the value in which the user depend on like national currencies, or if STEEM does well, will turn out to be better).

are you sure? i know it was not an option that existed at the beginning, but the option discusses APR% rates, so it looks like they are building it in.

"SAVINGS
Balance subject to 3 day withdraw waiting period, STEEM Dollars currently collecting 0% APR."

That it states "currently collecting 0% APR" implies that these values could be changed to be >0 and thus the function for compound interest is built into the system, yet seemingly not activated. Obviously Dan or Ned would need to clarify.

If it gave interest I'd be using it and so would many others. They took that feature away which is really a damn shame. Steem Dollars used to give 10% interest and Steem used to be a platform you could retire on.

wow, this should be front page news in India!!!!!!

I live in Venezuela. $5 per day is real fortune in our country! The minimum monthly salary is $16.6. I'm a doctor... A consultation costs $2. Is impossible to charge more.

And in poorer countries such as Africa, $5 a day can be more than a days pay! I am in South Africa and the staff in my small business earn about $10 a day. Steemit has the potential to change people's lives.

10 $ a day can be considered as rich here in Venezuela xD

I have been following the difficulties in your country. Some say South Africa is headed down the same road. In poorer countries Steemit really can change lives. I followed yoy and wish you all the best. 💚

What about further north, still 10$/day as standard?

I would say it is considerably less.

Thank you so much for supporting my previous argument in one of my post https://steemit.com/people/@richguy/where-are-the-votes. Since we dont pay for upvoting can we use it profusely to uplift others? In my country Nigeria, $5 a day can feed two adults comfortably. You never can tell what good you have done by just clicking that little button.

My upvote just gave you a gift of Gala and a LaCasera drink. We should have a chat soon bro. Nice to see you here.

If In USA the condition is that now $5 dollars are enough to survive on daily basis then think about Third world countries like Africa,Afghanistan, etc there then pennies will be discussed .

That was my point. But no, in the USA you cannot "survive" on $5 a day. You can eat on $5 a day.

Excellent post dana-edwards! thanks =) Actually I´m living in Mexico been working here around 15 years and I can certainly tell you that in small businesses & shop employees don´t make 10 dolls. a day... and if you go to southern states they even don´t make 5 dolls. per day! Mandatory daily minimum wage is around 88 mexican pesos, in US. dollars = 4.5 dolls.!

Right good thoughts and nice blogging.

I resteemed your post as this is good way to convey the message and to help each other.

I love this post. It makes me happy that Steemit can "feed" A lot of people. IT also makes me want to make my diet more simple. Because 5.00 a day on food. Sounds like a nice amount to spend.

When you up vote someone and $5 appears, you've given them a day of food.

It's a little surprising that it's enough even in the US, nevertheless in other parts of the world 150$ is the minimum monthly income, so it brings much more than the minimum on the table.
If we look at the daily reward pool (I think it's at around 56k), get it at a monthly level (56K*30=1,680,000), assuming a steem price of 1$ and divide it by 150$/month/person, we could say that Steem(it) can feed 11,200 people. Which is nice because the amount of effort one needs to put into blogging is less than an 8h job plus it's a lot more enjoyable.

The pay in the US is also less than an 8 hour job too. But in other parts of the world where $150 is enough to survive then it's way better than an 8 hour job.

As far as effort, it really depends on what the topic is. I'm sure blogging about the food you are eating with the $5 a day wouldn't take much effort and could pay for itself.

My friend from Nigeria on Steemit is doing rather well.....better than most Americans on Steemit......

for some reason when I think about salaries, I'm not sure why I always think about Venezuela. Average monthly wage there is 33$. the monthly steem pool could provide average wages for 50k Venezuelans.

Changing the world. Normal day in SteemLand :)

I am From Venezuela, 5$ is 1/3 of the minimum monthly wage... Some people makes more money here with 1 post, than the average Venezuelan worker in 1 year :)

Dear @dana-edwards, I just posted translation of your short but powerful text, here:

I consider it very interesting and essential for convincing new members that micropayments are not so micro 😊

You are, of course, noted as the original author. Thank you very much

5 dollar's a day is a full day job where i live now bcuz hyperinflation of the currency..libya

nice vlog!

Awesome!, I've lived on as low as about $1 per a day or even no money for an entire month at a time. Much of better understanding this is through understanding more along with preparation and planned accordingly based of your possibilities in your living environment. Great job!

I'm from India and many people struggle to make even 5$ a day. So it isn't that bad.

You have gained wisdom about realistic living while you are still youthful. It is sure to prosper you as time goes on.

Americans usually waste a few hours a day on television. Why not burn that time making a few bucks. @dana-edwards, Steem On!

very good info. thank you

good points Dana!

Interesting Post, What will occur when the whole World is on Steemit?

Fantastic post! Steem has the potential to change so many lives!

good post

This is why steemit and steem will reach every corner of the planet. Great post dana-edwards.

Does publishing a novel in segments work here?

5$ a day... I maybe spend 2$ on food per day :D Estonia is cheap, but so are the wages.

Here in Nigeria 5$ is good at least worth near a thousand

I love steemit. Amd i love your blog.
Follow back

OMG so true! I am freakin struggling through money right now and your post took some weight of my chest. Imma follow you! Thank you for this.

Great and informative post

Wow I think a lot more people need to see this

A $100 dollars in other countries like Panama, Colombia or Venezuela is a lot. I`m glad to see that Steemit is helping some way the communities. Great post @dana-edwards Upvote.

Excellent post that gives me a whole new perspective, thank you!

Right on, good to see it laid out. It's amazing what happens when you add quality to the world, thanks for the post!

Exactly. Moreover US is a developed nation. In india which is developing, that would mean a lot

I would love to have 5 bucks a day, in matter of facts, I would love it totally to spread my love for this platform aswell.
And it would motivate me more to my programming projects.
I would help the italian community to spread the word about it.

Steemit is a wonderful community where earning $5 per day is a little amount , if you hard work than you can change you life.So Steemit is a life changing opportunity for those who deserved.

Good videos and post. The only way for human beings survival in the long term on this planet is living a simpler life and learn to be happy like this (something I found very easy).

Bravo! Great post! Keep spreading the word.

По сути бред.....((...кто тут из простых 5$ в день получает,статья для наивных..((..

More like how to make $173 dollars in just one day on steemit!

And that mother who shows how she feeds a ffamily of five for 100 a month is obviously not in california or nw york lol shes in the south or texas or some state where food prices are actually that cheap...but thsi is also proof that you can definitly survive off the $190 in EBT they give to people every month as welfare ! Kind of like al already existing universal basic income

Steemit is the future for a lot of people.

What a wonderful opportunity to be a blessing to people worldwide to help them better the lives.

saludos y exitos @dana-edwarsds

I am kinda encouraged by this post. I love to write and if steemit can help me make money dointg it. Why not give it a try? If it works out well as it seems to be for so many people, I'm putting my all in it. Five dollar per day is worth a lot in most developing countries.

For the most part this is still true today. While for myself blogging is not "fun" anymore, I do think it still can be.

When I made that post Steem was quite a different place. Steem is still evolving as a technology and as a community. We have a lot ot look forward to in the future which could make Steem fun for the older generations of bloggers such as SMTs and new functionality. I think a more diverse and broad ecosystem enabled by SMTs will allow for a more vibrant and fun atmosphere.

In a developing country $5 a day is good money. If you are from a developing country and can live off $1825 a year then if you took my article seriously and blogged on Steem back when I posted then it is possible you have over $100,000 in Steem Power by now. If you have that and have access to certain assets it may even be possible for you to power down, diversify into these rent paying or dividend producing assets, and get 5% or more a year on that $100,000 allowing you to in a sense retire.

5% of $100,000 is $5000.
5% of $50,000 is $2500.
5% of $25,000 is $1250.

What is your number? It is also possible some people do not have access to bank accounts or the stock market which is why crypto platforms like NEO offer something similar to a dividend. These are of course risky so I do not recommend but the point being that there is so much more than blogging and blogging is not something to do permanently.

You made some good points. I am new to Steemit but I am willing to learn the best ways to succeed. I wish I knew about steemit all these years but I am happy to evolve and learn. I will be glad if there are other tips for me. Thank you.

Yes u r right in 5 $daily we can do a lot .ur post really encoraged me .keep writing .
