Steemit BBQ Session - South Georgia Style!!!

in #life8 years ago (edited)

Yesterday my dad and I decided to make a steemit tutorial on the proper way to BBQ a tenderloin! Here are the steps and ingredients on how to make the PERFECT tasting meal.

The first step is putting on a proper cooking shirt. You want to look cool while you cook, so choose wisely on your apparel.

Next, lay your tenderloin out on some tinfoil and gather your cooking ingredients. I used a 2.5lb and a 3lb piece of meat to cook. They were both Smithfield extra tender boneless pork loin roasts. The seasonings I used were: Worcestershire sauce, BKW rub grilling blend, Lawrys seasoned salt, seasoned salt and McCormick crushed red pepper. You can pick and choose your seasonings but I have been using this combination for a long time and they go absolutely perfect together.

Once you have picked your ingredients, equally apply a nice layer of each flavor to your meat. I usually apply the sauce first so the seasonings will stick to the meat better. Be sure to get the top side and then flip it over and also apply everything to the underside of the meat. Basically, massage the seasoning into the meat.

Once you have applied everything, go ahead and wrap the meat up in tinfoil so that it can start soaking up the flavor while you go and prepare the grill.

Put your charcoal into the grill and apply some lighter fluid. It's best to use this method instead of matchlight charcoal because it will last a lot longer and it is actually cheaper.

Now go ahead and light it up!

Be sure to let the fire burn down to coals. You don't want to cook anything over a fire that still has lighter fluid burning. Once your grill is ready, take the meat wrapped in tin foil and load it onto the grill. Special note*** carefully push all the coals to one side and place your meat on the opposite side. This allows the meat to cook with indirect heat.

Throw the lid onto your grill so that the meat can start slow cooking. Make sure the vent on your grill top is on the same side as your meat. This is so the heat can go up, across to the meat and then out. This gives great circulation to your cooking. Now is when you have to have a little patience, trust me, it is well worth it in the end if you can wait. You want to let the meat cook like this for atleast three hours. To make sure nothing gets burned, I suggest flipping the meat every 20-30 minutes and then placing the lid back on.

When you finally reach the three hour mark it is time to open the tinfoil up and add the secret ingredient, Mrs. Griffin's BBQ Sauce. Of course you can use whatever sauce you want, but this is by far the best tasting sauce in the world !!

Cutting the meat up will help the sauce run down into it. Apply a nice solid layer to your meat, put the grill lid back on and cook the sauce on for 20 minutes.

Once the 20 minutes is up, your meat is finally ready! You're almost ready to sit down for your meal. This isn't something you have to do, just a suggestion. Open up a nice bottle of red wine, it goes great with the taste of the pork.

Cheers to a great meal!

You can pick sides to go with your meat, we chose some good ole Mac n cheese. Now it is time to
Chow down!!

If you follow these steps I promise you, this is a meal you and whoever you have with you will never forget! Everyone is sure to clean their plates.

Thanks for reading and enjoy!!!
