When you hear that someone connected to you is appointed or elected into a position, you rush to rejoice and congratulate them without asking if the process was fair nor merited.
When you go to an office for something, the first thing you do is to find out the origin of the official concerned. If they are not connected to you in a way, you seek to find someone connected to you who can facilitate whatever business you have there. If you know they are connected with you, you quickly exploit that connection to get what you want done.
When you have a simple case in the police station you get an officer who is your tribesman to handle the case so that you will bypass justice.
When your child wants admission in school, you make sure you find a way to reach a member of the school's staff you know before the exam is taken.
Even common doctor's appointment in the hospital, you try to get hospital staff you know to help you jump the queue and see the doctor first, while those who came before you wait.
If you are used to this kind of thing I have good news for you!
You are helping create a society where people don't trust people they have no connections with. This means, everyone too is trying to do what you do; make sure there are people connected to them in essential places, so that they don't get left out if they are in need. You are helping create a society where there is always vested interest in picking people for anything, no matter how insignificant.
Someone got sacked just because his new boss thought his position was too sensitive and so preferred to bring someone from his his ethnic group. Just imagine the number of people who suffer this kind of fate.

Treat people not because you know them but because that person is breath same air as you do, that person is a human being.
