The day after being sick is like the day after a disaster... and that's how I feel every time, like there's stuff that has to be cleaned up and repaired. I've lost another day - but luckily family dinner was postponed. I figured and hoped, after realizing it wasn't a hangover - that it would be a 24 hour thing. 24 hours from when I stopped moving. So approximately 2000 this morning - I felt better. The final signal was that my head was no longer hurting. The pressure had been released.
Of course the first action I took was to weigh in... 176 lbs. My weight dropped 4 lbs. in 24 hours... because I'm nerdy about tracking my weight, I know this isn't normal. (The most I've dropped naturally is 3.2 lbs.)
I was out of bed at 0400 because I just couldn't stay in bed anymore. It was a cold one so I waited until the temp hit the 50s before I hit the course. I completed the the two miles in 27 minutes. I had a strong start, but had to take a couple of breathers on the way back.. in the last quarter, (which is really the last eighth.) I think this is a good strategy... Go all out for the first mile - then - hum "Don't Fear the Reaper" (Blue Oyster Cult) as I make my way up the hill... and if I need to, walk a few yards.
The next part of the day I played catch-up with the weekend's video clips and then went out to the YMCA for the usual Monday stuff. The class was good and I did manage some practice with what I call planges, but aren't 'actual' planges. The way I see it, I need to get strong here before I can move on to actual planges.
On another local note, the transit strike seems to be over... just in time for the elections. We wouldn't want SEPTA to be blamed for Trump's victory. (Ha ha ha.)
This blog seems to compress what seemed to me to be a long day. I won't bore you with the house work, chores and on-line classes. Tomorrow we go again... back to the gig and hopefully another run down the parkway. This was Day 40 Run #23 (57.5%).
