Well, you asked so:
I don't watch videos unless there is an extremely captivating narrator that explains what they are doing. I much rather skim a written article and read in depth the sections that interest me.
I have no interest in learning animation, specifically, so what would be the point of me watching a 4 hour video on animation? I much rather have a text block with some screenshots and gifs that show progress.
Make your content accessible to more people by going over general points, and not going into details.
Even if someone was interested in learning animation, I think they would rather watch tutorials than someone work for 4 hours, silently.
I have no idea what you're making, besides animating a character. I've seen numerous posts on your game, and I still have no idea what it is about. Tell us a bit about your design process, if you want game designers (me) to follow along.
You come off as spam when you post multiple posts the same day. I use ginabot to get notifications on #gamedev and seeing your name pop very often makes me not want to click it.
I'm not french and don't understand french, writing in french alienates me. I'm sure it's easier for you, but I just skip anything that has french in it.
Good luck!
Ok, i need advice on how to compartimentalize, at least, my french posts from my gamedev ones in english so they don't end up, the two of the same on the gamedev thing that would be a start, thank you very much for your honest, down to earth analysis even tho some points kind of saddens me, but it's the part of taking criticism.
I'll try to write down some of these things and keep it as a memo before doing videos, i didn't thought what i do was "spammy" until now, just trying to show progress as much as i can, but if it ends up hurting what i do, i might as well try to lessen the rate of my blog posts and make more condensed ones once a day or once every 2 / 3 days.
I didn't knew my name popping up that much on gamedev, it also means there isn't much people doing that kind of thing on the platform too, but i'll keep in mind to try to explain what the game is about, spam less this particular tag and diversify.
This has been a nice reading thank you for taking the time.
Unfortunately, it takes a LOT of time to build up an audience. In fact, look at me. 20 days in, I have achieved 50 followers, of which I'm seeing an average of 6 to 10 upvotes on posts now. That's not a lot, but it is growing. It ONLY grows when I post quality posts through Utopian. That bot gives credit to the articles and people are starting to take note. My issue is that Godot Engine is such a small % of the community here, however, I'm giving it a lot of love to build. It will take a lot of time. Try to make your posts interesting to the reader, NOT to your excitement of producing something. It is a very hard skill to learn, but one that I'm sure you could harness!
Another thought, try to explain in bullet points or headers what progress you've made. In bold letters so it pops.
For example:
Now I have a feel of what you've done. If I'm interested in how you did it, I might have a look at the video. I could also have a feel for what kind of progress you've made, without spending a lot of time.
