The Weird Series # 3 - Top 3 Negative Emotions Which Can Build Your Personality in a Good Way

in #life8 years ago

Negative emotions are considered really bad, and sure, if they are causing harm to you or others, then they are bad, but did you ever imagined how beneficial they can be for your own personality? Probably not, and what if you know that I'm going to back up my claims with scientific research? That'd be awesome, right?

First of all, emotions contain a pattern of thinking, and if we can overcome its negativity, then we can become one of the great people. But shame on people, some of them hit their own pets when we are angry, while some abuse each other and even break relationships when they are angry. Most of us haven't really considered the real use of those emotions.

Today, we will be discussing 3 top emotions which can be very beneficial if steps are taken with care. It's normal, we all go through different phases of life, and feeling/having those emotions is not new, it happens to all of us. But the key is to take benefit even from your negative emotions. How it is possible and what are the proofs? Let's go through them.

# 1 - Anger - A Road To Destruction or A Source Of Motivation

That's one of the most common emotions. Most of us go through anger almost daily and why not? when the government is screwing you over after promising green gardens, you'd be pissed off for sure!

Someone once said that "Anger is actually a super neutral emotion" but now here we are, with the new researches made by scientists that: "Anger is a source of motivation to take some action". Yeah, that's right. Now it totally depends on you that what action you take when you're in Anger.

If your anger makes you cause harm or destruction, then you're not utilizing its power, which can make you a "hitman" shortly. Like when there is a dispute between a couple, they usually take action in shape of divorce. Worst scenario!

The real use of anger is, when you see that Government has introduced new laws against you, then you become angry and do "protests" in a legal way and that way, the government might listen to you. Your anger can lead you to invent some new things. Like when you see Youtube throwing away content creators like a piece of garbage, your anger can lead you to invent a new gateway for people to create video content and get paid. And maybe Steemit is the result of the anger of @dan and @ned? Lol!

# 2 - Anxiety - The Great Way To Become A Great Leader!

You probably won't like to see your boss Anxious, right? because then he will investigate your every single action. Anxiety, in plain terms, refers to worry. From its cover, it looks a bad idea to worry about something but guess what? Anxiety makes you aware of all the possible negative effects/impact you might have on your project and that way, you stay well aware of what can happen.

And when you know the pros and cons of your plan, you'd not have to trust blindly. Rather, you'd be keeping everything based on facts and avoid unnecessary bias in your decision.

According to reports. Anxiety is one of the great skills which a leader must possess because if a leader is addictive to focus only on the pleasant part, then he couldn't bring long-term success for his people/company. If you're Anxious, people might love to trust you for their business related things because they believe you'd take calculated actions.

# 3 - Guilt - The Way Towards Betterment and Improved Relationships

We all agree that "Guilt" is a bad emotion. Yeah, that's true because feeling yourself as guilty of something really sucks! Sooner or later, we all go through this emotion. But do you know what is the opposite of Guilt? It's Psychopath. Both are some extreme levels. In first emotion, you feel guilty and consider yourself a reason for someone's misfortune but when you become Psychopath, you start feeling that every step you take is great and you become everything in your eyes!

The latter is absolutely the worst because it will lead you to destruction. Feeling Guilty, however, is a nice thing because it will lead you towards improvement and betterment because you are convinced that you're the reason of someone's harm, then you start working for its solution and that way, you improve your own personality. Not only that, you improve your relations with others too. They'll consider you a better person.

Conclusion:

If you can turn your negative emotions into beneficial emotion, then you will reach the sky because you'll be improving day by day. Let alone the other emotions, if you could even work to turn your Anger into beneficial emotion, then you'll become a successful person in this world because research proved that Anger motivates you to take some action, and if your action is well-researched, then you'll surely become successful. We often hesitate to give our ideas a try, but most of the time, when we put them to work, they turn out to be successful. Never let your negative emotions harm you or others. Be good, be safe!

We perform a strength finder test with all employees at my work. When you figure out your top strengths you also learn that they are also your weaknesses.
For example one of mine is responsibility. With this, anytime that I am involved in a project I feel the need for it to be successful. I am personally and emotionally committed to it. I will do whatever it takes to make the project successful. The downside is that I am part of a team and many things can happen that are out of my control. I will often burn myself out and get upset at other who dont make as large of an effert.
It is interesting how positive and negative often are directly related.

Darryl

That's a nice strategy.

As for the risk, yeah, such risk exist if you're working with group. Any wrong step from their side can burn you too.

I actually agree and used all three to improve my life to some extend.

Though I think they should only be as a last resort, not the goal of getting those emotions to move forward. That's already quite late.

One of the problems with these negative emotions is a matter of degree. They can be mild to severe. When they manifest as severe we are caught up in them like a train out of control on a swift ride helpless till the fuel runs out. We have a chance if they start out mild and we see them coming and of course that is the trick to catch them when they start. Then we can channel the energy they would otherwise use up leaving us drained. So yeah I see them as being useful IF we can use them and not be caught up in them.

Well, that would be great, to turn my anger into a positive force. I settle for less, though. Much less. I would be very happy if I could just reduce it. Reduce this constant feeling of rage. More than 6 years of Freudian therapy are definitely working, since things have improved. But rage seems to be a permanent companion, and a very nasty one.

This friend of mine made me angry. She said I wasn't a real jeweler because I didn't know how to set stones. So I took a class and starting setting stones. And then went back to her and thanked her for the motivation to learn more and improve my skills!

Congratulations! Nice post

Very helpful post. It just goes to show how you look at things changes everything. Turning the negatives to positives. Thanks for sharing

As for anger, it is actually energy. Remember, energy cannot be created or destroyed but can be converted from one form to another. So anger as energy can be converted into action. Positive and beneficial action.

Negative emotions can be motivated if harnested correctly

Dave

Great post dude! That makes me reconsider, i process all these powers in me since the beginning, but never get to use them, i ve always been peaceful, and never released my anger, trying to restrain it and not harm people, but instead now i can use it in my own benefit, followed and resteemed, thnks for enlightenment :)))))) @racemlaadhar

I find this idealistic and optimistic. Anger, anxiety, guilt... A well oiled person may be able to redirect them into positive personal action, but in the hands of the many, they can be overwhelming and disruptive, destructive. These are emotions used by the wicked, to induce fear, and control. They bring about violence and dismay. I prefer patience, honesty, decisiveness. A clear head, rather than being bound up into a knot.
