The Bedouins are a group of Sundanese indigenous people in the interior of Lebak district, Banten province. Their population is around 26,000 people, they are a group of people who shut themselves off from the outside world. Apart from that, they also have taboo beliefs to document, especially the residents of the Inner Badui area.

The Bedouins are a sub-tribe of the Sundanese, they are considered a Sundanese people who have not been affected by modernization or are almost completely isolated from the outside world.

The Baduy tribe is an indigenous tribe from Banten Province, to be precise at the foot of the Kendeng mountains in Kanekes Village, Leuwidamar, Lebak Regency. The Baduy tribe settlement is about 40 km from Rangkasbitung, the city center in Lebak, Banten. The Baduy people call themselves Urang Kanekes or Orang Kanekes. The word "Baduy" comes from a Dutch researcher who refers to the name of the Badawi Arab group who likes to move around. According to their beliefs, the Baduy tribe claim descent from Batara Cikal, one of the seven gods sent to earth. The origin is often also associated with the Prophet Adam as the first ancestor. Adam and his descendants, including the Baduy tribe, have a duty to meditate in order to maintain harmony in the world. Therefore, the Baduy people really care about preserving their environment as an effort to maintain the balance of the universe. There is no excessive exploitation of water and land for them. Everything has its portion and limits in using natural resources. Tradition, culture and nature are things that are highly guarded. This village consists of two groups, namely the inner Baduy and outer Baduy.

The Baduy people are not educated, technology literate, and even barefoot, because life as it is is felt as a way to stay close to the One and Only God. The existence of the Inner Baduy is protected by the Outer Baduy who are tasked with filtering "information blows from the outside world" so that the customs of the Baduy Tribe are maintained and sustainable.

The Domas statue is the most important object of belief for the Baduy Tribe whose location is kept secret and is considered the most sacred place. The Baduy tribe visits this location in order to worship which is done once a year in the fifth month. However, not just anyone can enter the domas statue, only the pu'un (the highest customary leader) and a few selected community members who join the worship group.

The uniqueness and traditions of the Baduy people need to be preserved, but information literacy and other developments may also be introduced. This is useful so that the Baduy people can have knowledge and be able to develop their own abilities.

At this time outsiders visiting the Kanekes area have increased to hundreds of people per visit, usually teenagers from schools, students, and also other adult visitors. They accept these visitors, even for one night's stay, with the condition that visitors comply with the customs that apply there. These customary rules include not being able to take pictures in the Kanekes Dalam area, not using soap, shampoo or brushing your teeth with toothpaste in the river, and not littering. However, the Kanekes area remains off-limits to foreigners (non-WNI). Several foreign journalists who have tried to enter until now have been refused entry.
