You've touched on two important things with your text. First, it is about creating good designs in here. I am a psychologist and unfortunately, for family events, I developed a bit of depression. I use my knowledge in that area to write about it and help the people here. Not only in depression, but I write about my especiliadade which is the area dedicated to financial education with the psychological bias.

When I made @steemcamp first post, many Steemians thought I was just typing to earn some box.. They did believe when I said I was going to tour round 6 states in the country for meet-up and audition.. Entertainment was a very creative tool I used to get more turnout from jobless intelligent youths in Nigeria.
Today I see them earn on steemit which makes me so happy those I sacrificed my sp.
Steemcamp grand finale is on the 2nd - 8th of July. And they keep asking how am I going to host 55 Steemians in one house for 7days, what will be my content ? But I don't say everything because some see me as a rival or competitor.
I still believe no matter how someone steals your idea, it cannot be better than yours. The only difficulties we might face is financial as its a new idea to the steem blockchain network.

While I think many of us are lured by the potential of money (or equivalent), I'm going to using an approach that touches on some of the points you mentioned but without the expectation of getting paid. Namely creating quality content unique to my brand, and naturally connecting with like-minded people out of curiosity and a growth mindset.
Oddly enough, by switching the focus away from making money, I feel like I'm in a better position to make money since my content is that much better, and the connections I have made are more relevant.
