Learn to Play Come As You Are by Nirvana on the Ukulele

in #music6 years ago

Hi Friends!

It's been a while since I posted much music on my page. I was feeling super inspired today and ended up playing quite a bit of music.

I usually just do covers of songs and not tutorials - but thought my fellow uku players might enjoy learning this simple riff. Come As You Are by Nirvana is one of my favorite songs in the world - and so I was pretty excited when I saw how easy it was to learn the riff.

This is actually only the second ukulele tutorial I've ever done - the first one was a hawaiian riff tutorial. It's pretty funny because I usually post my videos to YouTube as a back up - even though i'm creating content for the purpose of posting to Steemit. Every once in a while one of my YouTube videos will get a lot of attention - and that one was randomly one of them!

I hope you guys enjoy this video. If you have an uke and decide to learn this - let me know! Please also let me know if you have any questions. :)

Xo, Lea

Hahaha YES!

So I live in the greater Seattle area and @maryjaney just told me that her friends co-worker is the one who found Kurt Cobain’s body. 😳 If that’s actually true... wow, what I would give to chat with him.

Sounds nice!

I don't have a ukulele but I kind of want one, they're so nice and portable.

Yes, they are great for that! It's so easy to take with you. You can even through it in a backpack and have the neck stick out of the top a little bit. :)

I hope you do more tutorials like this, as I just got a ukulele, and this is the level of tutorial I can handle. So thanks.

Doubt I'll be able to sing and play this one, for the reasons you said, so if you do do more tutorials, it would be helpful to do some chord based ones that are easier to sing along to. I think singing along is a big reason for wanting to learn to play in the first place. At least for me, anyway. :)

aww @rodneysreviews!! Your comment means so much to me! When I was making this video.. I kind of wondered how many people on Steemit actually play ukulele and how many would actually see this video. THEN to have one of my favorite steemians (you) leave a comment saying that you found it helpful is so awesome!

I know i'm not the best at tutorials yet, but i'd be happy to pass on any info I can. :) Singing along is actually the main reason I like to learn instruments too - so i'm all about the chords. haha

Waaaay back when I was brand new to Steemit - I did a post with a bunch of tips for beginner ukulele players. Not sure if you'd find it helpful - but here it is just in case.

Wow, what a throwback to see that post again! haha

Aww thanks. I just bookmarked that post so I can come back to it when it isn't late at night on a weekday.

I really want to learn, so I can take part in the whole community thing of weekly singing on Steem, and hopefully that post can get me closer to the goal. :)

Great idea to incorporate tutorials. Always with something new and fresh with you! Does this transfer over to a guitar? May be worth mentioning if so to capture more potential students.

Aww thanks Matt! Figuring out how to explain things is always tricky - but I’ve been teaching a few friends how to play uke lately and so that’s helping too. 😃

I’m not sure if it translates into guitar! (I sadly don’t play) but that would be interesting to experiment with!

Super cool im glad your teaching it now as well as your covers your doing

Thanks my friend!! 😃

Thanks for popping into our Steem Monster Show the other day too!! 😊

I liked this song, it sounds very nice your ukulele.

Aww thanks @the01crow! 😘

Amazing! This is my favourite Nirvana song as well.

Sooo good. I don’t even know how many times I’ve listened to it and it still hits my core every time.

I enjoyed your tutorial on Come As You Are. As my parents were music teachers it touched my heart to hear you explain this. Thanks for sharing

Aww that’s awesome! Glad you enjoyed the video. :)

@coruscate.. this is so awesome. I'm actually a piano player as well looking forward to learning a new instrument. Big ups dear. Stay awesome

You’re definitely one of my favorite Dtubers! ☺️❤️
