How does one join various Steemit communities?
I see many users being a part of some form of Steemit community, but for now I am not actively part of any. I would love to join, but am finding it hard to 1) search for and 2) enter into such communities?
P.S. Sharing of personal experiences is welcome!
Hello there,
I am the owner of the Crypto Empire, a community that not only serves the Steemian but also welcomes any community on the blockchain inside its sever. We have the biggest communities there and by joining us you'll be able to see a broad array of steem communities and ask about them to their representatives within the empire.
This is the best way to discover which communities to join.
You can join the crypto empire by accessing one of my posts and scrolling down to my crypto empire signature at the bottom, which has a link to join.
Cheers
Hey @spiritualmax, thank you for the recommendation! Will definitely check out Crypto Empire (:
True, I actually agree with your statement that the community is actually hard to find due to the simple fact that we don't really have a comprehensive list comprising of all available active communities!
But here are some tips which you could definitely use to look for such communities! Just join in their Discord channels and get in touch in the communities there. You would be surprised how many members are already there!
1. Look for country-based communities:
- Well, I would say this is the best starting point one could utilize to explore the Steemit blogging communities effectively. Use hastag such as 'teammalaysia', 'nigeria' or just depending on where you are based in, in order to join the discussion. People from the communities could easily spot your article and then introduce you to their community groups, in which you could obtain advice from the seasoned bloggers in the group! Also, not to mention, certain communities even provides 'upvoting service' in order to let their members grow together! How cool is that!
2. Look for platforms:
- Secondly, you could also join various interesting platforms such as Utopian.io, Musing.io or even SteemHunt as well as others which I did not list here! They all have their own goals which they wish to promote. For instance, Utopian.io advocates and incentivises the contributions towards specifically Open Source works, while Musing.io rewards Q&A knowledge sharing activities. Well, you get the idea. Just participate in these platforms and get in touch with the communities.
Well, my answer is not exhaustive and there are actually so many more out there for you to explore! I believe by following as many interesting people as you could, you would eventually be exposed to many more platforms! Good luck and keep Steem-ing!
@plokmi, yes thanks for your suggestions! They're very helpful as a starting point (:
Based on my own personal experience, for most Steemit communities, you will officially become part of a community after you join their Discord Channel and interact from there. The link to their Discord channel is mostly found below their blog posts or comments and/or on their official Steemit profile. Good Luck!
The first thing you would want to do is find out what type of community you are interested in getting involved with. There are many options, from #steemstem for those who like to write about science, to country specific communities for most countries in the world. It can be a bit difficult to find the right place though, and by best suggestion is to browse a lot of post with the relevant tags and see if you can come across any community info there.
man its Discord man, didnt u know about it. join there man, so many communities over there.
My best advice is to remain active on Steemit. Even if you are not creating posts regularly, comment on others posts, answer comments on your own, join discord groups.
Bear in mind that as nice as it is to be a part of many communities, it can be exhaustive and time consuming so you will want to set realistic goals in regards to time management for yourself.
If you do decide to join any specific communities, ensure that you show support for the members who are already established. You can do so by commenting, and/or upvoting their posts, following them, ect.
Try using the Steemit search feature, and also look through popular tags, you would be amazed as to what you stumble on this way.
My last bit of advice is to remain respectful to all the members in the communities, even when you may not entirely agree with what they are saying, or even if they are being rude to you. This may seem like a common sense statement, but you would be surprised just how quickly a persons rep can get destroyed from saying things without thinking first.
Good luck, and best wishes to you!
Thank you for all the advice @futuremind, @valth and @jlordc! (:
