A WILD EDUCATION - INFORMATIONAL, EDUCATIONAL WILDLIFE VIDEOS - NEW SERIES - EASTERN HOGNOSE SNAKE

in #nature6 years ago

Finally, I am editing my own videos!

I used to be able to make some great videos way back in the days before steemit. Then, when the "new and improved" version of a program comes out and your old computer crashes, you've got no idea how to use it anymore. Eventually I'll have to get some even better software, but for now I am up and running, and this is my first effort.

Years ago when I still lived in Wisconsin I recorded a lot of footage of various wild animals and took a lot of photos. I had always desired to create something with all of this footage, but then I ran into the issue that I mentioned above. Now, I finally figured a few things out and have edited my first short video.

NO MORE NEED TO DO EVERYTHING IN ONE TAKE!

If you've noticed, just about every video that I've ever shared here on steemit has been done in one take. Not anymore! Now I can edit and mix things up a bit, which is a HUGE step forward for me and unlocks another level of creativity and so-called "professionalism."

I'll be using this capability in some other projects too, but I wanted to show you my first effort at making a short educational video about an animal. Being a man who really enjoys herpetology, I chose the Eastern Hognose Snake to start with. I had a bit of a sore throat this morning too, so I went for the deeper "narrator" voice on this one. I did not use a script for this one, but I think it turned out pretty good!

All of the video footage and photos are original @papa-pepper work, so this is a brand new project full of original material!

A WILD EDUCATION - EASTERN HOGNOSE SNAKE

I'll be continuing this series as I have time, and I have a lot of original footage available. It'll be a good chance for me to produce some more refined educational material to put out there on YouTube, which may encourage others on the web to check out steemit as well, which would be good.

Hopefully you guys will enjoy these, and I am very excited to finish a few other projects that I had in mind, but just lacked the skills to pull off! Thanks!

As always, I'm @papa-pepper and here's the proof:

Thank you @mcsamm!

Always welcome..never wana miss any post of yours cos its always different

It would be sad if the snake end up as someone branded bag. Such majestic creature.

That sure would, of course the one in the photo is only pretending to be dead as one of its defense mechanisms. More about that in the video.

I hope you enjoyed it! thanks for your. post w8 for your reply..

Oh yes, I enjoyed it. How about you?

You are very creative @papa-pepper. Every business you have a high value and useful to others. Happy work @papa-pepper.

your post can give contributor and inspiration to the viewer.
@papa-pepper

Perfect actor, loved the way it protects itself and act so weird to woo off the predators, the snake has some intelligence. A very nice find.

It was created in an incredible way! Glad that you liked it.

you are amazing and also multi talented man @papa-pepper

What software are you using and what do you love/hate about it?

Just the "movie maker" that came with the computer, but the older versions were way better in my opinion. It could just be that I'm ignorant and can't figure out "how to make it do right..."

Gotcha! I got a new computer about 6 months ago and it didn't come with any video software so I've been using OBS, but for some reason, it won't recognize my camera. :(

O my God!!The foreskin of the hair is fixed to see it. Though its very beautiful. Nice video.upvote @papa-pepper

That proof photo is so cute!

Ok...just finished the video. Yeah, you sounded different. But it was good, I liked it, and the video was great!
At the end for your Steemit address you said backslash... / I thought that was forwardslash!??

Anyway, it's good. We can use your videos like this in our science classes!

You're right, that is a forward slash.

You're full of surprises papa-pepper. Good video and I want to see more. Well done you for sorting out the technical difficulties and moving along with it. All well worth while.

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hahahahahhahahha its so cute

crippy! nice one, I will follow you to get more information. keep it up

first snake image is it real...???

Oh yes, real and alive.

Hey @papa-pepper I cannot say that I am a massive fan of snakes, but I am a girl, so perhaps I will be excused. lol - However, having said that he is quite a distinguished looking little guy...

As for the video editing part of the post... now there is something I can relate to in terms of excitement hehe ;) I am not big on videos... Self confidence issues I suppose, Something I guess I will need to face at some point in my life... haha - but I have had LOaDS of fun exploring editing apps for my little boys youtube channel and it is awesome how easy it has been made these days.

Happy editing :)

Have an awesome one x

Wao amazing

It's good to realise better ways of doing things as you have with your videos. Steemit in other words has impacted your quest for perfection which is huge. Thanks for spending so much time to give us more... Keep on steeming... It unlocks potentials and provide answers!

Never before i felt a snake to be cute :D

I like watching snakes but not holding them, bravo its nice experience

This is a great documentary video bro. Quite educational, this is the first time I have learned about the Hognose Snake. Your narration was spot on, you are our own National Geographic and Animal Planet source of wildlife information here on Steemit. Keep up the great work, looking forward to more videos on other animals. Your editing was pretty good and you'll only get better

Thanks man! I appreciate your encouragement!

You're welcome bro

nice editing going on there, @papa-pepper!

that's a dead snake? :-O

Nope. It is pretending. I show more in the video.

Wow, @papa-pepper! What an excellent job. Very professional. I think you have hit on something here. Being able to edit your own videos is a big boon for you. You will be able to get as creative as you want. It will have your own unique stamp on it. When we get other people to do things for us, no matter how well they think they know you, the end product will always seem, somehow lacking the personal pizazz that you have.

Thank you so much for the encouragement! It is "low tech" but it is still an improvement from what I am used to putting out. Thanks!

They are great little snakes. They are getting very popular in the pet trade here is an albino hognose snake:
