RE: SOME SURPRISINGLY COLORLESS MOMENTS IN THE WOODS (again, because the post was muted an hour ago)

in #photography3 years ago

Yeah, OK, I must admit that is not the most intelligent thing ... but I read the rules, and uploaded the post to see how important those rules are :D ... it's no fun with these petty rules that can't be stretched a bit.

Sort:

Why would we stretch the rules? If we do that for one user, we would have to do that to other users as well. And then it stops being Black and white community, doesn't it?

I don't think it is so hard to understand "no colour images".

Nope ... if the post is more than 90 % black and white but just starts in color to tell a story, I wouldn't be afraid that the community will lose its identity. But that's not important. I'm not advocating the stretching of the rules. The community is like that, and it has all the right to be like that, of course.
I just get passionate about rules in these artsy stuff ... sometimes :D that's all ... I'm not glad if I offended someone ... but, the expression was running free :) it was late in the night ... I mean, after all, we all learned something... that I'm not a good match for this community ... and this community is not a good match for me ... and that's OK.

I just get passionate about rules in these artsy stuff

So you decided not to follow them, just to see...

It is OK to have a different view and disagree. But it is NOT OK to start calling names and offend people because you broke the rules and got pointed out. This only shows how serious you treat people that do try to run something around here.
Thanks for that!

Yes, in that I must agree - I apologize for that, for the offensive, inappropriate words. No jokes here, sincerely.

Wow! This is a pity, I do enjoy your work, @borjan...

I guess main point is: Rules are put there for a reason, or they wouldn't be called "rules" - maybe we can call them, "...if you like, you can do this... or that..." - BUT they are not, they are RULES. Means no stretching! (And they sound pretty serious about it...)

First, the Black and White community has this (check the page, right column):

Second: ALL monochromes/monomad posts have the rules printed not once but TWICE, at the top and at the bottom of the posts - must be important, and serious... don't you think?! And the part that applies here is:

At least 50% of the submitted post, including the first image, needs to be black and white (ELIMINATORY FACTOR).

"First image". It wouldn't make sense if the feed in Black and White community has a thumbnail in full colour, would it? Think about it - am sure you understand. Maybe you could stretch your creativity to craft your post around a layout/story that starts with a black and white photo instead... hence keeping to the rules and keeping everyone happy. Cheers!

First of all, of course I understand your point and these simple rules. My opinion about them, is of course different, I think, ad example, that if the feed in the Black and White community had a thumbnail in full color from time to time but the rest of the post is pure monochrome :) it would be a nice and refreshing surprise.
But look, I'm not trying to change here anything. The rules are these, I don't care much about them, but I will surely not upload posts with colors anymore. It's ok, I understand how the community feels about rules and I will respect that of course.
