Music and Boats

in #photography2 years ago

Friday last week I needed to travel to the south of Cape Town to visit my brother. Now the south of Cape Town is really beautiful with mountains, lakes and of course brilliant coastline.

Simonstown harbour where we spent a pleasant few hours drinking milkshakes and tasting some of the tapas offerings at the market fair.

Rare Earth - Hey Big Brother

This song is appropriate... it was my elder brother I went to see ... and it was not a 'good news' visit.. sitting on the beach just chatting and reminiscing... looking at old old photo's made me realise how much (and how little) time has passed... like the earth's spinning orbit without recognition.

Janis Joplin and The Big Brother & The Holding Company - Cheap Thrills

I actually do not have that much to say here except that we overestimate our time on this mortal plain and undervalue those we love and care about. We need to appreciate our mortality AND humanity more.

After an emotionally trying visit I headed home ... and this next photo was taken on a small pass called 'Ou Kaapse Weg' meaning the 'Old Cape Way" ... it does not pay justice to the actual experience.

That table cloth was almost touchable {smile}

Thanks for stopping by ... and as always... love the one you with.

Love the views you have! I felt a bit special when I for the first time saw the cloud sheet falling of the table mountain when I was in Cape Town the first time back in the late 90s. But this one in your photo is so much closer to what I experienced. You are in a unique geo location, for sure.

Is the photo you in your younger years? Or your brother?

Sorry to read you had a not so good topic you needed to talk about with your brother. I do hope all will be good in one or another way. From change of situation, or the ability to accept the situation as it is.

NJOY-ed the two oldies in the post a lot! I maybe have to start a playlist at Spotify with these and some other songs and tracks.... wait .... created the playlist and added the two you shared. Now I know for sure I'll be listening to these more often.
