Tego dnia odwiedzałem stolicę regionu Racza - Ambrolauri. Miejscowy klub zawdzięcza nazwę regionowi i również nazywa się "Racza“.
The first informations about the local football date back to the 40s of the 20th century, but the team never been very successful. The first traces available to me are from 1982, when the team - named at this time Kimikosi - appeared in the GSSR 2 league western zone. They kept the place in the league till 1986, being relegated in that season. One year later Kimikosi came back, and till the Soviet Union collapse remained in the 2 republican league (although in 1989 already with name "Racha"). In the independent Georgia its history became more complicated.
Pierwsze informacje o lokalnej piłce sięgają lat 40 XX wieku, ale drużyna nigdy nie osiągała wielkich sukcesów. Pierwsze dostępne mi ślady pochodzą z 1982, kiedy to drużyna - wówczas pod nazwą Kimikosi - pojawiła się w zachodniej grupie 2 ligi Gruzińskiej SRR. Utrzymali miejsce w niej do 1986, zajmując w owym sezonie miejsce spadkowe. Rok później Kimikosi powrócił i do upadku Związku Radzieckiego pozostał w 2 lidze republikańskiej (choć w 1989 występował już pod nazwą "Racza“). W niepodległej Gruzji jego historia była bardziej skomplikowana.
1990 - the Racha team appeared in the Central Group of Second League (3rd level) finishing 6th.
1991 - they started playing at the same level, but due to disastrous earthquake they had to withdraw.
1991-1998 - probably not playing at all due to earthquake, or at the Qualifying Tournament (the lowest and the most obscure level, with almost all data and results gone with wind).
1998-2000 - Racha was playing in the First League, Western Zone (lowest existing level), with best result being 7th place in 1999/2000. That was probably their best result in the history.
2002-2004 - Racha was playing in the Second League Western Zone (lowest level), taking at best 5th place in 2002/3
2005-2007 - Racha took 3rd place in 2005/6 season's Second League and got promoted. In 2006/7 took 13th place in the First League.
2007/8 - as Pazisi Racha the team took last, 10th place in the First League Western Zone.
2010/11 - Racha took 10th place in the Second League Western Zone (lowest level).
2013-now - Racha started this spell in the First League (group A), but got relegated after one season. Till 2016 they played in the lowest, Second League, being unable to get promotion. When the league structure changed, Racha was moved to the Regional League, which was level 4 in 2017 and 2018, and became level 5 in 2019 and 2020. Currently Racha is definitely the weakest team of the Western A group, being able to win only single matches during the whole season.
1990 - drużyna Raczy występowała w grupie centralnej Drugiej Ligi (3 poziom), kończąc sezon na 6 miejscu.
1991 - rozpoczęli na tym samym poziomie, ale z powodu katastrofalnego trzęsienia ziemi musieli się wycofać.
1991-1998 - prawdopodobnie klub zawiesił działalność całkowicie, albo - zwłaszcza w drugiej części okresu - występował w Turnieju Kwalifikacyjnym (najniższy i najbardziej tajemniczy poziom, większość danych go dotyczących nie przetrwała.
1998-2000 - Racza występowała w strefie zachodniej Pierwszej Ligi (najniższy poziom), najlepszym wynikiem było 7 miejsce w sezonie 1999/2000. Był to prawdopodobnie najlepszy wynik klubu w historii.
2002-2004 - Racza występowała w strefie zachodniej Drugiej Ligi (najniższy poziom), najlepszym wynikiem było 5 miejsce w sezonie 2002/3.
2005-2007 - drużyna Raczy zajęła 3 miejsce w sezonie 2005/6 Drugiej Ligi i awansowała. W 2006/7 klub zajął 13 miejsce w Pierwszej Lidze.
2007/8 - pod nazwą Pazisi Racza klub zajął ostatnie, 10 miejsce w strefie zachodniej Pierwszej Ligi.
2010/11 - Racza zajęła 10 miejsce w strefie zachodniej Drugiej Ligi (najniższy poziom).
2013-dziś - Racza rozpoczęła ten okres w Pierwszej Lidze (grupa A), ale spadła po pierwszym sezonie. Do 2016 występowali w najniższej, Drugiej Lidze, nie będąc w stanie awansować. Po zmianie struktury ligowej, Racza znalazła się w lidze regionalnej, będącej czwartym poziomiem rozgrywek w 2017 i 2018, a następnie piątym, najniższym w 2019 i 2020. Aktualnie Racza jest zdecydowanie najsłabszym klubem grupy Zachodniej A, będąc w stanie wygrywać jedynie pojedyncze mecze w ciągu całego sezonu.
When I went to Ambrolauri, first I went to the "stadium" used in that season. In fact, that was simply the field of the local school, adjusted to the league requirements by mounting some seats.
Kiedy przybyłem do Ambrolauri, najpierw odwiedziłem ówcześnie używany „stadion“. W rzeczywistości było to po prostu boisko lokalnej szkoły, dostosowane do wymogów ligowych przez zamontowanie niewielkiej liczby siedzeń.

were the strongest points of the stadium. The field itself was at least green, but in an average shape, with visible muddy places. In general, quite acceptable for the lowest league in the country.
było najmocniejszym punktem stadionu. Murawa była przynajmniej zielona, ale w średnim stanie, z widocznymi plackami błota. Ogólnie calkiem przyzwoicie, jak na najniższy poziom w kraju.
When visiting this stadium, I've met also the manager of Racha team, and spend some time chatting with him about both local and country football. Very nice memories!
Podczas wizyty spotkałem też trenera Raczy i spędziłem trochę czasu na pogawędce o lokalnym i krajowym futbolu. Bardzo miłe wspomnienia!
The next point of the visit was the old stadium in Ambrolauri, the one destroyed in an earthquake. It was located a little bit north, and after some 15 minutes I was there. At this time, the field was mostly a pasture for cows and goats, with a lot of green grass:
Następnym punktem wizyty był stary stadion w Ambrolauri, ten zniszczony w wyniku trzęsienia ziemi. Był położony nieco bardziej na północ i po mniej więcej kwadransie byłem u celu. W tym czasie murawa służyła głównie jako pastwisko dla krów i kóz, z dużą ilością zielonej trawy.

As far as I know the situation has changed a lot after my visit. Not later than in early 2019 the new stadium was opened in the place of the destroyed old one, with new grass, and newly built roofed stand. Also the reserve field is constructed nearby, so the local club now has at least three full-sized pitches for trainings and matches. I deeply hope, that they will use that opportunity and will manage to develop a team able to play at least at Liga 4 - it's such a pity, that the only league team from Racha region is the weakest one in the lowest league - because the local people didn't loose interest in football, and even in these hard times, the posters, inviting for the match, were still visible around the city (this particular one for the match against Samgurali-2 Tskhaltubo):
O ile mi wiadomo, sytuacja bardzo się zmieniła po mojej wizycie. Nie później niż na początku 2019 nowy stadion został otwarty w miejscu zniszczonego starego, z nową murawą i nowo wybudowanymi zadaszonymi trybunami. Nieopodal wybudowano także boisko treningowe, więc lokalny klub ma obecnie co najmniej trzy pełnowymiarowe boiska do dyspozycji w czasie treningów i meczów. Mam szczerą nadzieję, że wykorzystają tę szansę i uda im się stworzyć drużynę zdolną do gry co najmniej na poziomie Ligi 4 - to wielka szkoda, że jedyny obecnie zespół z Raczy jest najsłabszym w najniższej lidze. Miejscowi nie stracili zainteresowania piłką, i nawet w tych ciężkich czasach plakaty zapraszające na mecz były widoczne na mieście (ten konkretny - na mecz z Samgurali-2 Ckaltubo):
