An idea for a #posh token

in #posh4 years ago

As I've been working on the OCD Community Incubation I also wanted to include how we're going to move forward with #posh but in the end I think that post is long enough on it's own to also include the idea about a posh token and asking for discussions and input from the community about it. After all posh is something that is helping the platforms and us all in general so I wanted to open it up for further improvements and thoughts from the community.

The idea basically comes from a few things that are lacking and have been lacking in the past. One of them is engagement which we all know got a hit with the new curve and tax penalty of the EIP hardfork. Even though users still curate comments most of them know that they will end up losing out rewards on it and most comments never make it close to where the tax penalty ends.

@abh12345 created the engage token and has found many great ways to get it active and distribute it wide to engaging accounts. We at @ocd also help a little at one point by buying up some tokens so they'd keep some value as the only buy pressure came from wanting to own 1000 of them so you could distribute more yourself. Then the hardfork came and other personal issues arose which lead to us stopping to put buy pressure on it but that's not a main concern or the point of this post. Engage is great cause it can be overviewed and users can be removed from issuing tokens if there is abuse ongoing, this is also what inspired me to want to create another token for the proof of sharing initiative.

The reason I brought up the engage token is that combining the two in one or more ways would give them both more power in a way. Before I start talking more about that let's get to the base idea of the #posh token and what it would do.

As you know Twitter is right now the main place where we are sharing our hive.blog and peakd links hoping it will bring some new traffic to them. We always had plans to take in more platforms but Twitter has been the easiest and I'd say most effective one to start off with due to the big crypto presence on there and lack of shadowbans/censorship directed at crypto.

Something I still want to mention is that while we've taken a break from actively curating #posh shared content it's been amazing to see authors make it a habit to share their links anyway and the activity speaks for itself after 1 month of no direct curation or curation in the OCD community:

The Posh token would start off as a centralized point system at first awaiting SMT's.
A bot would check likes, retweets, engagement (comments) on twitter of each account and distribute tokens based off of the performance of the tweet after x hours. This would allow for older posts to be shared as well if they're ever relevant so as long as the posh tokens hold some value it would at the same time give older posts some sort of evergreen rewards - but only for the account sharing them. This is often the author itself but at the same time it would make tweeting monetizable for anyone.
The bot would also check for engagement on the post itself and either hand out some posh tokens or we could use ENGAGE for this as OCD still has over 13k tokens that we bought up earlier and we would continue to buy them up in one way or another so the bot could give those out as well. This would get both tokens some buying pressure.
On top of that we could incentivize good reblogging as well with tokens to whitelisted rebloggers.

I know it already sounds kind of complex but connecting the two tokens could do a lot of good for both engagement and "marketing". Another side idea would be for the engagement authors get on Hive to get them extra Posh tokens if they have whitelisted certain users who comment on their posts by giving them engage tokens with the command. This would mean more people would want to have at least 1000 engage tokens so they'd start engaging more to get there to then be able to distribute them to users that engage on their posts and thus whitelist them so their comments would count towards also receiving Posh tokens for the engagement.

This may get easier to handle with the decentralized blacklists that @blocktrades was talking about in one of his recent posts but instead we'd have decentralized whitelists where the Posh token could follow certain users and who've they've distributed to before.

Anyway, as you can see there are a lot of gamification's that could be added to this token and the end game would be to raise engagement with some more incentives since curation of comments is penalized and continue the growth of sharing your links onto Twitter and other platforms.

Aside from donations or posting daily statistics of #posh and token distribution and raising funds to put buy pressure on the token that way we could also do a proposal for the DHF for it. Since there won't be a "premine" or allocating posh tokens to myself or anyone else early/unfairly it would mean that no one gets an edge with it except your performance in the twitter space or other platforms. Another idea would be to use a difficulty setting similar to bitcoin where more tokens are issued out depending on how many are sharing their posts each week which would give us who are here now an early adopter advantage and others who are yet to share posts or have a twitch account a reason to get one going so we can grow our presence more. The funds that would add buy pressure to the token would take the tokens and burn them to limit the supply. Future usecases for the posh token would have to be thought about later as right now we could mainly focus on distribution since buying them wouldn't even be possible if all it is for now is a point system that can't be traded anywhere.

A lot to unpack here, I was thinking of doing an infographic about all the ways it can be used and distributed but I believe my text is confusing enough. For those who managed to get their heads around it and read the whole post I'd really appreciate some thoughts on it, problems, better ideas, etc, and remember this would be a community token that the whole ecosystem gains something from so we welcome any changes and decisions you guys may think would be better for the idea.

I think that if you can do detailed tracking of the analytics of the results of the people who are participating in the initiative(ex. total impressions, total retweets, % up/down since last post etc), and condense that into a digestible post, you could do regular publishing of that data on Hive and use the rewards from those posts to put additional buy pressure on the token.

It allows for decentralization in the financial support for the initiative and could end up creating a virtuous feedback loop.

More people share > Better Results > More people want to support > More people want to share > ...

Wow! This is a massive idea, which if pulls through will be a massive push for this community. But i also think @nathanmars has something like this going on, on Twitter...if we can get more people to join it will be nice for the awareness. Just my opinion...i might be wrong though😊

Yeah we're open to anyone collaborating with us and the posh token, like I said there won't be an unfair distribution of it to the creators or anyone else. We want everyone to earn it fairly by sharing their posts and other factors. So everyone is welcomed to use it for their projects and initiatives.

My Twitter DM is always open to discuss any kind of collaboration that will bring value to our Hive.

If you read my latest post. I’ve three things going on at the moment.

HIVE5
FIVE5
Hive-up

I’m keeping it extremely simple and iterating daily with long term vision of Building Virtual HIVE community on Twitter.

What usd to Bitcoin is What Twitter to Hive

Most people won’t leave Twitter. Slowly we can migrate them over while making business deals happen via Twitter

I will just reblog this post so that others can see it and have an idea of this...and contribute where there's a need to.

I think that any means to increase the engagement here is welcomed. I think it's good to find ways in which the quality content can be pushed further and making people genuinely win it and wanting to achieve more.

Yes, the nice thing with SMT's will also be that you'll be able to rank things based on curation with the POSH token so just having another account dedicated to curating those posts (say @ocdb for instance) you'd be able to reward those users depending on the content with more Hive on the regular rankings knowing they've shared their post as well. SMT's is of course still some time off but having a general list of the active posher's and just following them with a certain account would make it easier to curate them on a feed than to actively look for posh shared posts through gina bot which we've done in the past which makes adds a lot of work to it.

Time is so precious and getting the curation thing done more efficiently would help everybody. Of course it would take some time to implement, but the authors would feel motivated to post knowing the appreciation for quality will come and the curation team can use the time for actively seeking new ways to improve the blockchain. Like anything in real life, time is the one thing we can't get more of. So yes, I am sure that this would work like a charm once figured out.

!ENGAGE 20

This is new concept and will need some work implementing. I feel it will kick off good though.
Is there a chance of it ever going beyond just Twitter?

Yes, most platforms should be easy to read data off as long as we find the right dev to create the bot. Some things will of course remain unknown such as twitter impressions that only accounts themselves can check and aren't public. But a combination of many parameters as discussed in the post should give a nice balance to what certain shares deserve.

I am curious. I thought using a posh hashtag was streamlining OCD curators to the said post. Yeah, it is a good idea. One suggestion, it seems having people engaged in a post is extremely difficult on the platform. I don't know how but if the token could use multi criteria indicators to determine what engagement is valid - in the lack of the better term - to earn tokens that goes beyond social media influence could be one way to look at it. Promoting my posts on twitter and reddit.

That was true for a while but as we moved away our curation focus from the OCD community where most #posh activity was happening we also stopped actively curating posh posts until we had a better solution for it. This is one of those suggested solutions to make it easier and more effective to both curate the posts and give out some extra tokens for incentives and at the same time connect them to the engage token so the engagement would go up at the same time.

Oi, the often toted "SMT rollout"... That one I dislike since it's been talked about since I joined 2 years ago lol

The engagement on here is very important for sure. I like the quasi-pairing of the engage token and the posh token. It makes sense and I've gained a fair amount of Twitter followers and Hive followers for using it so that's been good!

Sharing my posts on Twitter has also been good because I've connected with some people who have liked a random tweet of mine but may not necessarily signed up for Hive so that was very cool. Two in one week! I haven't heard back from them yet but I've sent them a tweet to introduce them to Hive and gave them a good PeakD link to check out.

I was curious about the OCD account and whether or not it was curating #posh posts and tweets. I will keep doing it of course but sometimes we really hope on getting even a small vote from an account such as OCD so that it boosts the payout. I have been trying to stack HP to do a lot of my own manual curation so it's not a huge deal but I've certainly missed an OCD vote here and there lol

Keep it up, the gamification will be getting more and more!

The #posh initiative had sort of made it a habit for me to share my articles on twitter! Now I just do it ritualistically every time I post something lol! To be honest, sharing on twitter has been generating some decent traffic to my posts recently so the lack of curation of posh content shouldn't be an issue really! Twitter is powerful, and we should make use of it for ourselves, to grow our own blog.

I think this is a better alternative to reward instead of voting comments. The ENGAGEMENT Token is already doing well & I think having POSH would be great. Though I see that a lot of work needs to be done. The Bots and a few other thing but this is a good thought to reward the people. Using POSH is already part of me no matter the community I post my content.

This would allow for older posts to be shared as well if they're ever relevant so as long as the posh tokens hold some value it would at the same time give older posts some sort of evergreen rewards - but only for the account sharing them. This is often the author itself but at the same time it would make tweeting monetizable for anyone.

This is something new. A great idea!

Would be absolutely perfect.

That is an awesome idea, and when I started reading this, I was exactly thinking how this is a very complementary token to Asher's "engage" token... there is so much talk about this attention economy, so it only makes sense that we find further ways to incentivize it. I look forward to seeing what comes about with this!

I know it already sounds kind of complex but connecting the two tokens could do a lot of good for both engagement and "marketing".

The internal #HIVE market inter-dependency economics is proven to be very successful. A great example of that is the events on the dcity game.

Inadvertently creates multiple (huge) values if a token is used differently for several purposes.

I would definitely like to see more tokenized integration across platforms. I am not sure what happened to SNAX, but perhaps they might have some leverageable code?

completely forgot about snax, whathappened.jpg

No idea - but I think that they were reading the engagement on Twitter, so it might be useful.

@svemirac?

There is a snax discord if you are interested to ask their devs about code stuff, it's based on eos.
Snax is still integrated with HIVE and twitter, as far as I know.

I really like the idea @acidyo!
Specially this part:

A bot would check likes, retweets, engagement (comments) on twitter of each account and distribute tokens based off of the performance of the tweet after x hours. This would allow for older posts to be shared as well if they're ever relevant so as long as the posh tokens hold some value it would at the same time give older posts some sort of evergreen rewards - but only for the account sharing them.

Thanks for trying to make the ecosystem better! 🙂

As always I like anything that is fair and this sounds impressive.
Well done and lets hope that you get some ideas here that will make it even better, but I think that it is very comprehensive as it stands!

The Posh token would start off as a centralized point system at first awaiting SMT's.
A bot would check likes, retweets, engagement (comments) on twitter of each account and distribute tokens based off of the performance of the tweet after x hours.

Already feeling super excited for $POSH

Wow!!! Nice initiative . I am all about engagement .
One of the challenges i mentioned as regards why the new recruits i bring are not finding it easy to stay is because there is no money and no engagement on their post. If there is engagement and there is no money , people will stay and woth time find their way. This initiative will spur engagement and at least help with discovery of undervalued content which is a problem on #hive right now.. Super duper initiative

Posh seems to have a good scope and results after engage !! Thanks for sharing this quality information! I hope these tokens increase the engagement!!

monetizing quality content is an excellent way to incentivize you to keep up the good work and at the same time act as a great motivator for those potential users who are researching the advisability of joining HIVE

And that will be a great encouragement for many

self-voting this for some more visibility.

Another idea would be to use a difficulty setting similar to bitcoin where more tokens are issued out depending on how many are sharing their posts each week which would give us who are here now an early adopter advantage

I think the above option is cool with me, otherwise opting for another option is also cool as long as it exposes Hive out there and encourage engagement.

home seems like a good idea so you can also attract more people to participate and make known the token greetings friend @acidyo

Love this idea. Its the age of abundance!

There has been a lot of movement on Twitter, it is necessary to activate the recognition for all the authors committed to the promotion of the platform. This is something we've been waiting for for some time, I'm glad you're back!

ow! it will be helpfull for all kf us. i am new here actually.

Nice nice idea guys, very interesting

It'll be amazing to see the token genuinely been won by the hardest of workers on the chain. It's definitely going to be exciting
