SOCIAL SENTIMENT OF STEEMIT
Last night I met up with Matt @Starkerz and Zoltan @Coinkingz in Wolverhampton along with Jonathan @jonathanyoung and Matthew for our very first #promo-uk Wolverhampton MeetUp.
One of the things that we discussed last night was that I had arranged to meet up with Professor Mike Thelwall from Wolverhampton University this morning.
I have now met up with Professor Mike Thelwall this morning and took him through the STEEMIT Platform.
The reason why I had arranged to meet Mike was that Mike is involved in researching Social Media Sentiment across Social Media Networks.
Mike is a Professor of Information Science over at Wolverhampton University and leads the field of research in the U.K. researching big data applied to: Webometrics, Social Media Metrics, and Sentiment Analysis, having previously developed quantitative web methods for the likes of Twitter, YouTube and other Social Networks.

I wanted to say a MASSIVE STEEMIT SHOUT OUT to Mike for taking the time to sit down with me this morning and allowing me to take him through step by step the STEEMIT Platform.
As a result of the meeting, Mike was more than happy to take away with him the mechanics of STEEMIT with a view to digging deep into the data that is currently available to see if he was able to develop a SENTIMENT ANALYSIS TOOL for measuring the Sentiment of STEEMIT.
It was a fantastic meeting and I look forward to sharing this Blog with Mike over the next few days.

Has he seen what Stocktwits are doing with their sentiment indicators?
Steemit is obviously a hub for in depth crypto analysis that is so much more than just charts. Some of the posts here on the tech behind and around it is truly mind boggling. For me, this is the area that sentiment could have some massive value if it was able to be harnessed.
The man is obviously a lot more intelligent than me so I'll leave it up to him ;)

Thank you. This is EXACTLY what I am talking about. A pictorial representation of pockets of sentiment within the STEEMIT Community. Mike is an exceptionally talented guy and has shared with me some totally mind blowing work that he has done which presents Social Media Sentiment. I think that steemit will be the first social network in the world because it has the potential to be, it is a new concept different in the world in the social networks, it is time to invest a deep money And time

Quite an interesting idea @stephenkendal but I don't know if I can really wrap my head around it. By "sentiment" you are referring to the emotions that we as users express, or feel? As in, how a user, or more users are inclined at looking for certain content, what makes them like or dislike it, what are users normally upvoting or downvoting? Is that what you're looking to do?
Thanks for your comment. No, I mean deeper than that. We have the Upvotes and Downvotes already. I am talking deeper into the Content of the Blogs and measuring the Complete Sentiment of the Community. Stephen

from my perspective, understanding ''sentiment'' in steemit requires alot of in-depth analysis and understanding of what drives users to post, the overall behavior of the community,how well we interact with one another and the outcomes of these interactions.
So far so good, ive noticed that steemians like following trends, not necessarily trying to create good content per say, although there are others who create wonderful content all the time. Right now, steemit is all about EOS and getting new followers through meetups, these topics shall be milked dry, just like when the entire community was about ''getting to know the basics of steemit''.
Good show on meeting with the prof stephen, I admire those who go the extra mile, steemit is more than a money making venture, and many need to understand that. Your works in promo-uk is outstanding.
This is awesome work. I wonder if the results can be used to predict the future sustainability of Steemit. I hope the work can be used to inform individuals so that they'll stop abusing the system for the detriment of the entire community.
