Is Potato the easiest food to grow in your garden?
Potato are high in calories, and low in maintenance. Simply plant and sit back. Watch them grow and then, when the time is right, harvest. Follow along as I show you in this short video, how easy and stress free potato are to grow in your garden! My gardens are in New England, zone 6b/7a.
Please let me know in the comments, if you grow your own potato, too? Or, Why not?
...and of course, if you SHARE the Video, too! MANY Thanks!
Most of you know, I prefer to grow my own food, locally. It's healthier for my family, and for the planet. I know what goes into my foods, and what chemicals are NOT in my food. Also, It cuts down on carbon emissions, less trucking, planes, trains, and boats, to get fresh foods to my table.
And that makes me smile... better for the planet, better for my own family.

You are so right - growing potatoes is so easy. I am in zone 7-8 and also grow my own potatoes in grow bags. It's always amazes me. Like you said - potatoes grow easily and the harvest can be plentiful.
I plant the first batch March 17thm, harvest 1st week of July.
Immediately replant and then harvest again, usually about 1st week Oct.
I did about the same as you. I have a batch to harvest right now as well. I plan to also replant.
Do you store potatoes for during the winter or do you plant during the winter as well?
I store as long as they last... some years, until march (we go thru a lot and some, runs out mid January. I wish I grew more, and maybe some time I can... and make them last longer. Perhaps some year soon?
Thanks for the information. I have been giving them away because I did not investigate how to store them. Maybe another year.

The first home we rented in New England was the source of ongoing discovery. It's in "downtown" LOL Weatogue, built in 1800. It has an outbuilding, a carriage house and a basement! Kids in Texas don't grow up with basements, you see.
In this basement, my fave space in the house, was a root cellar. Of course, I never used it, but I loved finding it.

.Nice 2nd harvest and good video as always. You mention liking grow bags because they are easy to harvest. Do you need good soil for potatoes? I grow almost everything in raised beds because of the poor, acidic soil here. I wonder if potatoes would do ok in the ground 🤔
Tomato like an acidic soil, and potato can tolerate as low as pH of 5. That's really acidic into Blueberry territory. I bet they'd be fine in ground.
I prefer grow bags so I don't have to rake and hoe, or dig them up
