Mate,
Opinions are great, we are all individuals.
I think that what seems to be a difference in viewpoint, based on what you wrote earlier and here is the following:
You see Hive.
We see Hive and HIVE & HBD.
Where in our minds our crpytocurrencies can and should be utilized all over the internet in 1001 ways. (the tools/apps = use cases need to be made for that to happen).
People do not need to become bloggers or anything that they do not want to become, in order to utilize our crypto currencies. We make the tools for them to want to use HIVE and HBD.
All 4.5 billion people out there if possible.
While anyone who does want to have their curiosity get the better of them and check out Hive, sure, WELCOME open arms, party hats on and all. That is where your approach takes over!
I see your point of view and I understand it 100%.
I hope you see it from the viewpoint just stated.
Let's not keep restricting the use of our currencies to platforms, UI's whatever, hooked up to Hive.
Are any fiat currencies limited to one platform or website only, no. So why are we limiting our currencies to one use case on one niche of platforms.
When and if people do hop onto any of the UIs/sites hooked up to our chain, God bless 'em, I'll be right next to you in welcoming them with open arms.
idk how to express what I am trying to get across here, may have to sleep on it, or maybe @enginewitty from our team can hop in, he has a much better way with words, he did get a degree in that field, so I would hope he is better at it than me.
I did try my sincerest best and you will always get it direct from me, no gift wrapping.
Part that frustrates me is, I actually agree whole heartedly with you as far as once people find out about Hive, own HIVE or HBD that they be given the best treatment and offer available from all of us and present to them everything that Hive has to offer them.
It is a step by step process and in my mind, I say "Give the people what they want, don't push them into anything. Let them find their own path to what suits their individual likes and needs."
Step by step, is one of my fav. sayings.
I think I do understand completely, at least what you are trying to get across about the value. I think it has value. My ideas about "progress" are irrelevant in this discussion, I just wanted to share.
Again, I like your idea, I am only challenging it to improve it, not tear it down. I hope others do the same for my ideas!
What I don't understand the technical side, as a dev, it's not coming together for me.
Perhaps you missed that part of the last reply
Can you answer my question about how a person without a hive account can get a tip?
I mean, I could tell you how I would do it (I have used the Youtube API), but it would be ugly. I think you have a better idea, so I would like to learn how that will work, as it seems to be the main benefit here, but I haven't found any information about how you made it work, or plan to make it work.
I think if you are asking for this money, you should tell us how the main functionality will work.
I listened to all the videos, but didn't get any real answers about how that would work.
Anyway, didn't mean to make you salty! Hope my inquisitive nature and desire to make better systems didn't come off the wrong way.
@lightproject
We need to all get together and work on the "Q&A" with videos showing step by step user guides.
I think we have fallen into the trap of "assuming" that everything is clear to everyone, with the fact that we took it for granted that not "everyone" is familiar with Google, Youtube, Twitter etc.
@inthenow, @enginewitty can you and @lightproject get together to fix this gap in the PR.
I am literally going to take a break, you guys in The USA should be awake now. My shift is almost over for the day!
@currentxchange thanks for the heads up. We will get onto it. Time zones and weekends play a role, but it will be taken care of.
Sure, yes looking forward to the docs. I am very familiar with these platforms, just not the linking you will need to make this happen. I had to deal with a less-complicated version of this same problem for my dapp (upcoming version, not the live one). So my questions are more prying.
Just been thinking how this could work...
You could store the 3p handle and the amount of hive in an account until the user claims it, then you would also have to alert the 3p content author by using the logged-in tipper's granted permission to post on the 3p content on their behalf a link to where the person can sign up for Hive. You would then have to query the blockchain (or DB) periodically to see if any of 3p handles have shown up as associated with a hive account, then send them the hive. This would also require the recipient to have your extension, so you can associate their Hive account with the 3p account.
Is this what you plan to do?
Something like the paragraph above was what I was looking for in the proposal / explanation videos and didn't find.
Happy my interaction has helped you communicate you ideas more clearly. Many times I think I am being very clear about mine, when I'm not. I wrote an 80+ page paper about my last project assuming people would actually read it and understand it ha ha ha ha ha, to be young and naive!
Hello Douglas,
When it comes to tip recipients who do not currently own a hive account, they get right away notified in twitter and information on how to get a new hive account is included.
EDIT: Currently there is no such a reference on how to get a HIVE account because of the Twitter max 300 char limitation.
In the meantime, funds stay in the central pool "hivetips.pool" until attestation process is fulfilled.
We will write Q&A on this topic anyways, thanks for pointing this out.
Cheers
Daniel
Thanks for answering my question Daniel.
So is it the same for youtube?
Yes, same process :)
can they just withdraw to bittrex without getting a hive account?
I must admit your question is mindblowing.
YES it is possible. But we never actually thought about it as a possibility. Thanks a lot for such a great idea!
Just popped back in to say that I enjoyed our virtual conversation here, it got me thinking and realizing some things about how we have all been spoiled with the joys of Hive.
It was a pleasure to meet you man, hope we will chat more often. Never know, one day maybe in person, it is a small world.
Cheers.
Yes man, cheers!
Love advancing the web! Apologies I was a bit hard on the project in the beginning. I get it now. Definitely a good step for hive!
