Today finished Dragon Keeper! I really liked it. It was very slow of course like her books usually and getting to know the characters takes time. But the relationships here are very rich and also the Rain Wilds as a setting is great. It was interesting to hear about some characters familiar from the Liveships. I wouldn't have minded more of that and we saw surprisingly little of Tintaglia and Icefyre. I think Hobb does the dragons well. The characters and their relationships are some of the best aspects of the book. It was interesting to find out what each of these characters dreams of and how they develop and collide with each other. In some ways it was also about a group of people beginning a new life together in a new community where they have to figure out the rules and leaders. The ending was solid as well. The phrase blood is memory is familiar from her books so now I'm wondering what comes of Sedric. He clearly already had one dragon thought in his head. Also will the dragon keepers become Elderlings in the end from spending so much time with dragons? There is so much that could be discussed about each of the characters, their motives, actions and relationships. Still, this was probably the weakest entry in RotE but a really great book that won't change my opinion on Hobb at least for worse
