What are the actual roads Steemians are taking to SteemFest 4 in Bangkok? | Roundup Part II

in #roadtosteemfest6 years ago

Is everyone getting excited already? In only a few more weeks so many Steemians will meet up in Bangkok for the annual SteemFest! The past few weeks have been about 'The Actual Road': how do people travel? Taxis, busses, flights, boats, maybe hitchhiking? There are many ways to travel and some people live close and only need to take a bus, while others come from across several oceans and have a longer journey. Although... Shorter journeys can be relatively interesting compared to longer ones as well! Make sure to read some of the adventures Steemians go through to get to Bangkok...

Meanwhile... A new writing topic has been launched by @anomadsoul! He invites you to share three truths and one lie, and for others to guess which one is the lie. this will make sure we've already shared a few laughs with each other before meeting up, and of course, the lie is probably a great great conversation starter for when you first meet 'that one Steemian' in Thailand!

You have until Wednesday 16th of October to post about this topic
Use the tag #roadtosteemfest and #blocktradescontest so we can all find the posts and get to vote on our posts to help out our funding for the trip.

Check out the new topic at @anomadsoul's blog, and make sure you enter this one as it's getting closer and closer to the actual date and especially these last few posts will be remembered by others!

Now let's go to a selection of 'Actual Road to SteemFest' posts

These are part 2 of the round-up, part 1 was shared by @jznsamual. Have fun reading and stop by these Steemians' posts for a comment and/or an upvote to support their travels!

@world-travel-pro shares how love changed his Road to Steemfest quite a bit:

Since I met my lovely and beautiful girlfriend; we are now going to Steemfest together. She is thrilled to quit her very good job, live off investments and part-time work from her computer like I do, and travel the world with me. So at the moment I'm back in Peru staying at her apartment in the Miraflores area of Lima.

@bitrocker2020 shares how much cheaper and quicker he'll be able to travel this year:

Previous years ... it cost me about 10 times more just flight alone compared to this year where is only about RM400 (about USD95) average in flights. This would be a great opportunity for Steemians in the region to come over to Steemfest and experience it for the first time ever in Asia !

Ha! I'm in there somewhere...

@fitinfun shares the costs of some of the parts of her travels:

I will either fly or take the bus/train combo. Both are less than $100 round trip. Both still have availability. At the moment, I am more concerned with my $100 rent due on Oct 15. Then I will have my wifi monthly $20 fee to pay again and that pesky need of food keeps coming up.

@littlenewthings has a lot to take care of right before SteemFest, but is buying flights anyway:

Everything seems to be a blur at the moment but I got to go by faith and just get the air ticket today, even though it is already myr 200 more expensive, and I even opt out one trip without checking in.

@travelgirl seems well-prepared already for her arrival:

Once I get there, I have already arranged to meet up with a Steemian at the airport as our flights arrive around the same time and head over to the recommended hotel Prince Palace hotel. From Suvarnabhumi Airport to Prince hotel takes around 35 minutes so we probably are able to have dinner by the time we check in and freshen up a bit.

@lizanomadsoul has learned from the previous SteemFest: arrive a bit in advance!

Also last time I arrived just at night before Steemfest and didnt have much time to meet up with some of the others before the actual event.. or after. This time I will be there one day before and 6 days after ;) Chillin with some others at Koh Chang after Steemfest.

@livinguktaiwan will sleep in the same room as a Steemian she has yet to meet:

Once I land Bangkok airport, I will meet my partner in crime, my room mate for the next few days. And when I say meet, I really do mean meet because I've never met her in person before. That would be fun. I think our flights arrive around the same time, so once we meet up, we'll have to figure out how to get to the hotel.

@gargi has it planned out up until the minute:

well well guys i have full planning for my bangkok trip, 'm going to leave my house on 4 of November from lucknow to Delhi by taxi which cost me around $55 to $60, 'm going to stay on my cousin's night over night. Then next morning that is 5 November at 8.15 i will take off to Bangkok, my journey hour is 5 hours i will reach Bangkok at 2.30 p.m.

@ace108 has his wife be his travel agent:

I gave my wife some details and she decided to book Hyatt Regency Bangkok Sukhumvit, Bangkok and Shangrila Bangkok. Yes, we have to move in between and I still don't remember which is first but better not argue or I have to do the booking myself. Don't ask me the details of getting around. I'm busy with a work project so making my wife the "travel agent".

@alokkumar121 shares his thoughts in a vlog:

I checked about visas, and for Indians there's a visa you can apply for over there and it gets processed very fast, so there's not hassle theret

To everyone who shared their Actual Road: have fun in Bangkok! Share lots and lots if pictures :-) Cheers!

You have received a @buildawhale manual curation vote.

Now you mention it, I hadn't thought of it that way ......

Oh! This is going to be interesting! Keep us posted! It's always very interesting to share a place to rest with strangers.
I did that when I was backpacking for the Awakening Europe conference

Thank you so much for the mention and work on curating these posts, @soyrosa. I have a nail-biter going on here with money, but will be in Bangkok for these dates no matter what may come :)

One issue has been resolved for now, and one more issue to go.... Yep. Just gotta go by faith now.

Thanks for the mention @soyrosa!

See you there?

Hey I'll be in Bangkok only after mid November this year, are there places there where crypto minded people hang out?
Thanks!
