i'm not really sure why i've just been in the mood for longer runs this last week or so, even though I think I should be doing shorter ones, and more intervals, but I've gone the opposite, I think this is because longer runs are just better for me to get to know this area...
Sunday's Run - Crystal Palace 10K...
This is my standard long-ish run... I did 2 loops of the park and then back down the Anerly Road which got me to 10K rather than the 11K which the other main road would have, I only wanted 10K, it was a good early run which means less people around the park, also I coincided with the junior park run which was nice, there was quite a lot more carnage than I'd imagined, with a fair few younger kids diverting into the woods to explore!
Standard 6K - Tuesday...
I did my usual fastish 6K around the local park and then went to Tesco afterwards, reasonable pace, pretty happy with this...
Thursday long run... 14K
This is a new route... up through a couple of parks towards Greenwich, it's a major London cycle route, so with 7.5K out only two major roads to cross, I turned back at the third busy looking road, one day I'll probably run all the way the Cutty Sark, I mean it's gotta be done, right...?!?
I ran this way too fast with an average BPM of 165 but I felt absolutely fine!
Next week's plans...
I think I'm gonna aim for shorter, pacier intervals and then possibly another massive run up towards Greeenwich. Enjoyed that today!
I have a 10k PB of around 54 minutes set four years ago. Seeing this time just brought about nostalgia. I haven't done 10k under an hour in more than a year...then again, consistency has been a real issue for me these past few years
You just have to do what you can do!
I think running is a great way to explore a city. I've not run much in London though. You can be a long way from countryside, but there are nice corners. Have fun.
It's great actually, once you get to know the local routes there's quite a lot of green spaces!
