Lunchtime run: Geese!

in #running6 years ago (edited)

Oops, typed rum, instead of run. That will live on in the URL forever :)

It was a bit cold a wet this morning, but it dried out by lunchtime. I didn't have time to mess around, so I just set off for a basic run. I thought I was doing a decent pace and the first few kilometres were not too bad. The hills didn't help. I went as far as Fairlands Park. There were a load of Canada geese there and I thought I had a photo of them, but it seems it didn't take. I headed back with a brief stop at the outdoor gym.

Run

A best of month time is not really a big deal, but I'll take what I can get. I was talking to a colleague who does triathlons and I think he's much fitter than me. He did a lot of running at school and then nothing for 20 years before getting back into it. It seems his body retained something. Now his kids are doing triathlons too. My daughter does Tae Kwon Do and my son rides, so they are doing some activities.

I hope everyone is doing well with their own training and personal goals. I have a 10km event next month. I'm happy if I get around 55 minutes.

No Actifit? I explained this to @bingbabe and she got all interested. There's still hope for a second post.

@dismayedworld used to do Tae Kwon Do when she was smaller. I had a go one week and realised just how unfit I was, I almost passed out with exhaustion while kicking two bags, one on either side of me.

When I was younger I did karate every week and it was no big deal.

Actifit makes it easy to do a quick activity post, but I like to at least get in one image and that means editing the post. I may wait until they enhance the app.

No need to be a masochist to run well... but a bit of pain could make you stronger. ;)

That has been a very good, and fast run! Cold but soft temperatures are always welcome for a runner.

Lunchtime rum sounds better to me than a lunchtime run.

As to the ease with which your colleague picked up exercising again, it may be that he has always been genetically advantaged, vis a vis exercise, like athletes are, rather than that he changed something about himself when he did exercise 20 years ago. Just a guess.

I think what is most admirable is going against one's own natural limitations, and persevering beyond them. We all swim in our own lanes, and you, with your 10km run coming up, are swimming like a crazy fish! :)

I wouldn't want to encourage excessive drinking, but you have to make life fun.

Not a bad pace, what’s actifit?

It's a Steem 'dapp' that tracks your steps for the day and can make a post for you. Just look for the #actifit tag
