In praise of the inov-8 Elite 20 Running Bag!

I must have bought this natty little back pack around 15 years ago.... I certainly remember using it during some long trail runs when I was living in Surrey in my late 30s...

I used to have a running hip-belt for water, or a hand-held bottle, one of those with the hole in the middle, but when I started using this bag I could hardly feel it on me it's that comfortable and lightweight I started using it for shorter runs, just to store a water bottle in.

It is pretty much perfect.... Its 20 litre capacity means it's enough to pack your work clothes in, including shoes, if yer running back from work, like I used to, or if you're doing a long out and want to get public transport back a partial change of clothes and something warm.

What I esepcially lke about it is the way it cinches everything in place so it doesn't wobble about as you run. You can kind of stuff more into the bottom two corners, and then there's an odd little space at the top for something else, it all just WORKS.

And a little pocket section in the main which stops things like phones wobbling about.

And it's got two little waist pockets, easily large enough for your keys and cards, energy gels if you're into those.

And the side pocket holds 1 litre of water, easily accessible.

It's basically a no-mess bag which I've used three-four times a week and it's still going strong...

There is some wear...

The mesh water bottle pocket is starting to wear through, and there's a little hole in one of the side pockets, the later can be sorted by thread, not the mesh pocket....

And I wouldn't trust it to be waterproof anymore, but that's nothing a dry sack inside can't sort out!

I'm hoping I'll get many more years running out of this because...

They don't make this anymore!

Sadly inov-8 are now focussing on hydration bags and mainly belts and other gear, no more of these!

Which I think is VERY sad... this is my longest lasting bag that's seen continuous use, I just love it!

Sort:

Many Items these days are not built to last, just built for quick turnover.

I sometimes don't understand the craze behind always getting new stuff especially if the old one is of better quality than anything new out there.

Keep rocking your bag. It certainly has a few more good years left

That has lasted very well. I don't tend to run with any sort of bag. I just tend to have my phone and keys with me, but I don't run to work as it's a bit too far. I may look for something as my arm pouch is not too comfortable. There are waist pouches that may do for my needs.

I do have a bigger backpack that I bought many years ago on a work trip to the USA. I am still using that one. Some things do last.

I didn't know that Inov-8 produced backpacks too. This one looks just great, a treasure to keep !INDEED

A bag that's been used for 15 years? That's amazing, man. It might be one of the most durable products you've ever bought. Among the things I actively use, the longest-lasting item is about 7-8 years old, and I don't think it will last that long.

By the way, when I saw the cover photo, I thought it was a giant cockroach XD
