From ancient Greek myths,

Parthenope

we know sirens - the daughters of the river god Achelous - half-birds, half-women, who lured sailors with their singing and destroyed them. These include, in particular, the Parthenope. However, she became more famous than her sisters, because the seaport city of Parthenopolis, now better known as Naples, was named after her.
