Heady Copper, Green Tourmaline, Quartz, and Jade Pendant

in #slothicorn6 years ago

Hello Steem!

It's been almost two weeks since i last posted here, as always, life has been getting in the way.

I have been working on this piece for just over a week from sketches to final polish and i'm really pleased with the outcome. The last few pieces i've pushed out really feel like a step up from things i've been creating in the past. I'm really enjoying the progress my practice is making. I think posting and writing about it here on steemit has played a part.

So here she is. Featuring a nice piece of Green Tourmaline, a smaller Quartz point and several Jade beads all wrapped by hand in pure copper wire.

I'm going to post up the steps i took to create this piece, hopefully by the end of the week so stay tuned!

What a wonderful jewelry you have make! Thanks God that you're not living in the same country with us... hahahaha, my wife will do anything to get this. Are you making this kind of jewel by order too?

Ha thanks. It is up for sale actually. I havent listed it on etsy yet but if your wife is interested we can work something out, i can ship to most places 😊
I do also do comissions to order yes. I havent posted for a couple of weeks but if you check back through some older posts theres a few examples there.

Yes.. I have checked it out.. I need more Steem or SBD to buy it for her, will contact you when we have enough money then. I was doing something like you do just to kill the time, but not very clean and details as you because I learned from people like you with limited materials.

ok cool no rush :) Yeh i started with some old electrical wire and simple pliers years ago. even now my main tools are a couple of pairs of pliers and lots of wire! its partly why i enjoy it i think, the simplicity, i can do it almost anywhere. thanks for your support

Ok I have to know, how many hours are wrapped up in that piece of art? Your work is great!

You should consider listing this piece and your others on @steemfleamarket so steemians can buy with SBD if you are open to that arrangement. Might give you a whole new market.

Oh and I found your post as @dipoabasch had featured you.

Thanks!
So this one was made over about 10 days. I rarely finish a piece in one sitting but i think this would maybe be a solid days work, if i had the luxury of working like that. Ankoyingly i cant focus for that amount of time creatively.
Ill check the flea market out. Ive tried puting stuff up for sale here before but it wasnt very successful. Would be cool to start selling for steem ☺

I need to get some stuff up as I think selling for steem now would be great. IMO the value of steem is much higher then the price reflects today so it would be a major bonus to sell for steem long term. For me this is a multi year plan, not a short term thing.

I couldn't picture doing something like that for a day straight. Would think that you have to break it up so your current schedule probably keeps it fun and allows your creative side to shine.

whoaaa... it's beautiful! you're so details. is it a pendant or brooch?

found your post through @dipoabasch post in Pay It Forward contest this week. you can read about your post here in this link

I'm looking forward for your next post about the process of makin that gorgeous jewelry.

this ones a pendant, i guess it could be a brooch if i added a pin to the back. perhaps both!
thanks for your support

Thankyou, I'm going to try and get the process post finished this afternoon after work

That's a beautiful pendant. I can tell by your attention to detail that you are not a novice. Great job!

Such ornate details on this beautiful piece for me it has a Maori or Polynesian feel to the design

Oh yes! I'd not noticed that but you're right! The totem style wrap and I guess the tourmaline and jade are similar shade to the famous greenstone.
I may do some inspiration research into Maori designs, cheers

@robali123 Being from NZ I know a lot about Maori art work, I was considering a Maori Based Tattoo at one stage but I never got around to getting it reviewed and approved by the Maori Elders and wouldn’t get it without there approval, and now I doubt I ever will get another to so its an idea I have dropped

oh cool! yeh i dont know much about the culture really if im honest apart from some of the beautiful tattoos i've seen
