Hello, to all my fellow Splinterlands players I am a little late this week due to starting up work again. For now, I am going to keep breaking the battle down with screenshots. A video is easier but not a lot to watch them. Not sure why maybe you just don't have time to watch and listen and want to look and read. Let me know if I am wrong. If enough of you do I will switch it up. I will break down another fight so you can see how I win or lose? Once again I am looking for some feedback to be entered to win the DEC. It can be about one of the battles I show or just the overall look and idea of this post. You can win 1000 DEC for doing that. Also, let me know how you did in the airdrop. I got 3 so not that bad.

I am going to break down a fight in a tournament this week. If you prefer to just watch it go here. I want to say thanks to the @peakmonsters team for hosting this one. I did okay but made some mistakes in other battles. This one was an Equalizer and Close Range match and the tournament was gold level. The reason I picked this one was to highlight the better strategy of using lower-cost monsters in Equalizer unless the mana cap is very high. You can see that for 20 mana I got a lot more guys on the field. With Fire off the board, I feel death is the next best team. I put three two mana cost cards on the board. Then the healer as they do great with high HP. Then Vampire as he is a great card in this mode. You have to play the chicken in this mode. He went for the front tank while I put him last to be in the way of sneak monsters. Due to my status controls and monster advantage, I felt this was an easy win.

His line up was good for 3 cards but one didn't belong for sure and that was.

Cornealus is a great card but with a 20 mana cap, he just costs too much. He also put all my guys at 12 life. So when you play that card in this mode and can't stack little guys with him you are helping the other player. You will see this as the battle goes on.

20200618 09_32_35Window.png

It is easy to see that I have an advantage right away. His ranged monsters have a lower attack and with the shield ability in the first position and a heal he has no way to kill my tank. He does have a healer but over time you will see that it isn't enough.

20200618 09_33_30Window.png

Round 3 and his chicken is gone and my team hasn't taken much damage at all. I am feeling good for sure but there is still one more issue that you will see soon.

20200618 09_34_10Window.png

Round 4 looks almost like round 2 as I am slowing killing his next monster. There isn't much worry for me. I just have to make sure I kill his team before that sniper starts to kill my monsters.

20200618 09_35_19Window.png

Round 5 comes and it looks like it is over for sure. But there is a little danger here for that first time. He has a self-heal and a back row heal and thorns. If I can't do enough damage to kill the tank I will lose. It would take a while but my healer would die to the thorns then the tank then his sniper would very slowly kill my guys till the vampire. That card would save me with the life leach but still, this would take a lot more rounds to end.

20200618 09_36_01Window.png

Round 6 and you see some of my back row guys hurt at last. Return fire slows down my life gain and thorns hurts my healer and he is still at 9. The key is to not miss my two attacks that are 3 damage.

20200618 09_36_44Window.png

Round 7 comes and I didn't miss so I am looking good. I did get hit a little but really as it turns out thorns not a good play when you are giving my guys 12 life. My healer isn't going to kill himself fast enough.

Round 8 comes and the fight is over. I am sure you saw that coming as I was in control of this whole fight. It was nice to get a win in this battle.

Did you read it all? I am guessing some of you might have skipped in. Not a big deal as it was a fight I wasn't going to lose. The reason for sharing it was to show you that when to pick the right team for the right rules you can easily win. When you don't level some strong legendary can't win. That is a great part of this game. It isn't always about the most expensive cards. Sometimes a few rewards cards with one legendary card can dominate the fight.

Sort:

hmmm nice, you did the right job thereby using fallen sector which reduces ranged attack of your opponent. And yep I got 2 in airdrop so not that bad either

I got nothing from the airdrop, as I had only bought like 15? packs. My chances of getting anything were abysmal. (It would have been very nice though!)

But dang, I didn't know/notice that Equalizer takes the highest health monster from BOTH teams and then gives that monster's health amount to the monsters of both teams. Thought it was separate. My highest monster's HP and theirs, haha.
(How did I miss that?)

How many packs have you bought that you got 3 airdrops?
I wonder if you were lucky or unlucky : ]

As for your post, I'd say it was quite nice.
But reading each round feels just a bit burdensome. (Or maybe I'm too lazy...)
Perhaps, some main points why you won or lost would be enough?
I don't know if going through each round is necessary.

Good points, I am at a 570 pack amount. So I got a little lucky. I do the $200 bit and wait till I get 200 back and repeat so That only cost me 200 dollars

3 airdrops out of 570 backs? That's quite lucky.

And you mean that you bought 100 packs for $200 and then you sold the cards to get like 200k DEC and bought 100 packs again (but with DEC this time)?

Well sort of. I buy the 110 packs for 200 invest a bit more to have the potions that way I always get a few good golden cards. Sometimes I make back the 200 really fast other times it takes longer. But I don't leave the money in DEC I tend to turn it into USDC and put it in my celsius app to earn interest on it. Once I have deposited 200 dollars into it I allow myself another 200 buy with Paypal. Mind you I do this with all the money I make on Hive and splinterlands and dcity. If you get a golden legendary you get back 50 to 100 bucks right away a few epics and you are good. I got back 70 last time just from golden rares and epics Then I do my posting and stuff and over time I put it all into my crypto bank account.

Great explanation about the battle, I liked the mana cap explanation.
Also as a beginner to the game, I refrain myself participating in the airdrop.

Sorry no airdrop but thanks for chcecking our the post.

Yay!
Your post has been boosted with ESTM. Keep up the good work!

Wow a super good explanation about what to do and not to do in the equalizer ruleset. Tiny monsters often work when your opponent is using costly monsters, but when your opponent is also using tiny monsters, it can easily backfire if they have more firepower.

True but that is where my debuffs. That protects me from small hitters.

Yeah. Gotta love that fallen specter. Now that it is out of print, it will definitely increase in price.

Hello @stever82. I received 5 of 1494 eligible packs in this last airdrop, it was good, right? Only 1 left to reach a level 3 card.

I love these complete battle analyzes, at the moment I am preparing a very long post about Armorsmith for the official contest and I intend to post it tomorrow.

I also love this ruleset, Equalizer, and Vampire and Fallen Specter are great options in this rule. I like using Exploding Dwarf with Fire and Ice Pixie with Water.

Yes, the battle was easy for you, you chose well, congratulations.

Thanks for checking it out. It was fun to break it all down.

:reply:
Two things need to be said here.
:mistake:
Earth team must be very careful when having 3 attack damage max monsters. If all same attacking type, one monster debuf on them can ruin them all (3 down to 2 is 33% or 50% less damage). And also as @stever82 put it, too high mana monster for this game.
:slack:
Now IMO death team need to do better. When I make my team with 2 debufs I must consider putting Halfling Alchemist too. Also, I think here was good rule set for this low mana monster. He would not show much against this enemy, but you are actually making your team without knowing enemy team in first place.
Cheers!

Ya the reason for the one 6 cost on my team was to make his life the lowest possible for my team. I almost used the halfling also but went with this set up.

:reply:
Perhaps that is good to be said in your post because he is so good for this rule set, sorry for I made wrong impression.
:thought:
In the end, just to say, I value Alchemist more than Priest in your set up. Weaken is less valued in Equalizer than in Little League for example, and I am not sure if Slow and magic attack are more important than Alchemist.
Cheers!

You opponent looked pretty strong too! Thanks for sharing!

Thank you a lot

I only use that card when the mana is very high, and when battle rulez is that health boost, I prefer to use many little ones n hope the ennemy will boost them ;)

@tipu curate
Great

Since I am a new player (I just started playing a couple of weeks ago), I appreciate you taking time to break down the battle and explain some of the strategies. FYI - I read the whole thing. Keep up the good work.
