Tough Gig

in #sportslast year

Hi Friends,

I went to a college basketball game recently and was able to sit pretty close to the court. The game is certainly intense and very physical, and the game I went to was a competitive one between two good teams - the stakes were high.

On thing I noted from the game - the refs have a tough job. The plays happen so fast and everything is so physical, it seems every play there were complainers who were letting the refs hear it:

If they let a play happen, the offense gets mad, if a foul gets called, the defense gets mad, and go it goes.

Bing a ref is a tough gig.

Thanks for coming by,
Brian

I think a kind of video referee has been used for basketball game for a long time. That might easy their job.

I think so too... in basketball, things happen in a split second, whether intentional or a legitimate foul the Ref has to make a decision, and you're right when you say whichever he decides to side on... the opposing team will feel bad about it :D For them, it's constant pressure during the entire game.

Completely agree with you, Ref has the responsibility to see the game with more focus and make right decision, one wrong decision from the ref can destroy the game.

Video recording is important

In most contact style sports a foul or penalty could be called on every possession pretty much. It’s a thankless job, that’s why they make the money they do.

You are absolutely right that in a game of football any ref has to run around a lot and keep an eye on everything so that he doesn't make a wrong decision. He has a lot of responsibility to make every decision right.

He always performs better in sports. Bing a ref gives the correct decision to both the teams. Thanks for sharing.
