Splinterlands - Tortisian Fighting (Weekly Battle Post)

Water splinter is my favorite splinter out of all and summoner Alric Stormbringer is great. When I start of with my formation if using water I often focus on magic monsters as Alric provides +1 magic and the fact that out of all three types of attack magic is the best in my opinion. Magic attack hits directly at the health and can attack at any position in the formation.

This weekly battle challenge is with using Tortisian and I have to admit I do not use the monster often. To me Tortisian is like an alternative to Spineback Turtle. Both monsters are low mana cost but good tankers, lead in the front of formation.

The battle I like to share link here. The battle was limited to 22 mana and rule sets were close range and reverse speed. I decided to go with Tortisian as my lead because it would qualify for this weekly battle post, but honestly would have went woth Spineback if I could. Anyways I then had genie, ruler, and pixie to follow up Tortisian.

I finished off with Ooze to really be trying to gain DEC if I had the win, but looking back I probably should have put chicken in, but I do not have a gold foil. Anyways the slow from Ooze would benefit my opponent as the rule set allow slowest monsters to attack first.

My opponent on the other hand used Frozen Soldier as their tanker and followed by Captian Ghost, Chicken, King, and Pirate Captain. With all but 1 monster having magic my opponent's benefit of Alric dwindled. On the other hand they hand higher level monsters in all but Ghost and Chicken compare to my formation.

Battle Results

The battle started off with me losing Tortisian even before I could attack and by the time I took out Frozen Soldier my magic monsters' health was each down to 1! By end of two rounds I basically had only Ruler left while my opponent still had King and Pirate Captain. The close range rule set allowed my opponent to continue attacking while both King and Pirate at the front of the formation. The battle literally came down to Pirate versus Ooze. Pirate attacked first but missed! My ooze then attack and not missed. That was the battle. I won by some of the thinnest of margins.

Conclusions

I play in the gold/diamond range and often encounter a lot of level 1 formations. So using a Tortisian at level 1 to me seem reasonable. The cost of 1 is not too expensive at the price of $0.027 but I had already spend on investing in a Spineback turtle. So I was not going to tack more than a level 1 Tortisian at this time. This battle although I escape with a win is still proving to me that Spineback is a better monster to use. Tortisian barely block any of my opponent's attacks. Maybe at higher levels it would be a better tank monster but for now I will stick with what I am conformable with.
