Be Your Unique Self And Chase Your Passion....

in #steemit6 years ago

For the longest time I searched for approval from others... I no longer choose to waste my energy living that way. I find much more peace in being myself and  living through my  unique being.

“Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.”
Oscar Wilde

Comparing myself to others as a judge of placement in this world has constantly let me down. It's a work in progress every day and i don't believe i'm the only one who struggles in this area. It isn't easy learning to let go and move forward without any comparison but once i started learning my soul purpose it's gotten much easier.

What's your passion? Do you have a hobby or skill that you know you're good at? Have you ever asked someone if they have a passion or if they're good at something and they just say no I don't have any passions or talents? I've heard this before and i've heard it multiple times actually. Quite frankly I say thats a bunch of Bologna. If you're a human and have the complexity of a human brain then i'm sorry but theres things you must like or have passion for. Maybe you haven't done enough digging or you're to shy to talk about it but I sure do believe you got something.

You can achieve anything you put your mind to if you believe in yourself.

Maybe you loved to paint as a kid but never took it seriously.. Maybe you started learning guitar or violin and you really enjoyed it but stopped. Maybe you've always loved looking at pictures of the world and wanted to travel...See what i'm getting at here? First let's distinguish the difference between passion and talent.

"Passion"- strong and barely controllable emotion.

"Talent" - natural aptitude or skill.

I believe that every individual at the very minimum has one of these two traits. Say I let you off the hook and we agree you have zero natural skill sets (talent).. which is hypothetical  because I believe you have something. Then at the very least i'm sure you have some passions life. What is it that you want to learn or get better at?

It is absolutely never to late to get up and start learning something new. Say you do want to learn the guitar right? A lot of times I hear "well I didn't start early enough" or "nah there's no way I'm capable of doing that now". To be honest this is just plain not true. It's more then possible to start learning and it's actually easier now that your fully developed and able to learn more rapidly! As a human we create habits and tendency's very quickly. Take two hours a week to challenging yourself and learn something new! This isn't much time at all and it's very possible to get better with this start. Chances are you'll see massive improvement within just a few weeks.

This picture above was taken in Miami. It was actually captured by @karensuestudios when she came to visit :p "fun fact". But the point is that I had a strong desire to take this picture with the beautiful bright colors and then shirt I was wearing. I wanted to create this shot the way I had envisioned it and thats exactly what I did. This was very minimum effort for a picture that I will have for the rest of my life with incredible memory attached to it. I just discovered my new found love for not only photography but for modeling and capturing beautiful moments.

Photography is something that everyone can try. Nowadays the cell phone camera quality is plenty good to take wonderful pictures! There's even a guy on Instagram who is famous for taking beautiful pictures on an Iphone. Any way that is just one idea out of hundreds! I urge you to try going after anything you've ever been curious about. The reward is much more valuable then you think. Please share with me below if there's something you want to learn or get better at and I'd love to have some talk about it.

Identifying and merging Passion + Talent is like the core for developing a business around yourself too (which I know you know.)

I think the majority of my life I've been waiting for other people to identify my work by not being my unique self and just mirroring others. Or trying to create situations in work or my personal life to get noticed. When, really, I think that making the mental decision that you are the one who is going to "notice" yourself and you need to work as hard as you can to promote your work because no one else is going to do it for you.

Anyway, a little tangent comment on your post but I just resonated with what you wrote in a different way :)

What are some ways in which you have identified your passions?

I have too many passions!!!

Lol you should link to your old posts btw. I remember a few months ago, you did a song I really liked and I can't find it again. The only thing I wish steemit had was a lil' search bar so I could try to find old posts easier.

Oh also, who's the guy on ig? Is it secretly you? hehe jk.

About the comparison thing. Yeah I think a lot of people struggle with it! You're right about having to learn not to compare ourselves to others.

I heard something like "only compare yourself to who you used to be and how far YOU'VE come."

I really like that kind of comparison a lot more!
