This has ever been my idea of steem:
We don't follow steem to the moon. We take steem to the moon.
And if you look closely, it is on this very model that steem will end up thriving.
Everyone, even a redfish has a stake and each one is incentivized to grow this stake by incessantly "mining with minds", while maintaining good behavior.
You are started up on steem to some delegated steem power (at the very least), starting you up to ownership of steem. I think that establishing this sole knowledge from the outset, will instantly spur you on to steemit success because your mindset starts out all different (this sole knowledge almost instantly sets you apart and gives you an edge because this sole knowledge, many steemians spend ages to identify and establish in their minds):

Yes, establishing the above solidly in your steemit/steem-knowledge-base and no longer will you spend too much steam, actively/passionately seeking out things that are wrong with steemit/steem or possible reasons why it will fail or endlessly question whether it will end up succeeding etc
For you will land (on steem/steemit) and build-base! You will not just perch on it.
Yes, many content-sharing blockchain-based platforms may pop up, that look to offer more balance in terms of reward distribution etc but how will they compare to the "steem-blockchain" also, when it comes to security, capacity, speed, fees and ease-of-use?
Speaking of ease-of-use, you don't have to download an entire blockchain to access steem!
And can any content-creation platform out there, beat steemit/steem in the aspect of "a reputable community of great minds"?
Except they try copy steemit/steem! (Steemit is the first of its kind (that works) on blockchain)
Not a soul can today, can be fully said to be a better break-dancer than Michael Jackson.
Okay, there has been Akasha, Synereo etc trying to pop up but are they on a blockchain better than steem?

Don't Keep Stressing
While others who understand fully that they are co-owners of steem are incessantly looking for reputable ways to shoot steem to the moon, we lose steam even steem, indecisive on whether to perch or land.
Without landing, you can't be really effective towards your steemit success, for there will always be "but(s)".
And while you spend ages hoping that whales will come around and visit and ages getting deterred when they don't visit, how about spending that time building your own whale? How about remembering this:

For while you tire out a bit, to go into-the-box to regain energy, rest assured, someone is coming out-of-the-box, at that very moment to create awesomeness.
The whole model of steem revolves just around that.
The more people there are realizing that "we take steem to the moon", the more it is less likely to fail.
I Am Not A Coder/Developer/Programmer?
Hahaha, this is just one way of the ton of ways out there, to take your portion of steem to the moon. Its an ecosystem and to me, every role is equal; you know why?
Cos there is no real ways to measure value or effort.
So who says a developer/programmer etc does a better job than you in taking steem to the moon? Who says, your simple blogs about "life" etc has not triggered action in the search engines and brought thousands to steemit today or potential thousands next-next tomorrow?
When i started Untalented for instance, i had steemit growth very much in mind as well. I wanted people to share these untalented posts to their social media accounts as well, to spur steemit growth even to those downtrodden or lowly-at-heart; to revert even the spammers and give them newer use as innovators and content-creators, but did i have any real measure of my impact, until one person left a comment, saying that #untalented changed his life and because of it 15 or so of his friends have joined steemit?
Plain No
We all play a role in this ecosystem and minnow or whale; is negligible. What counts is:
that tiny thing that you do
"The High Road"
In reality, this the road that successful people take.
While you argue about whether those who trend, are suppose to trend; those who trend; trend!

There is nothing you can't build on steem and if steem/steemit has issues, spend more steam/steem conceiving of ways to fix it or your portion of it and let it be fun and let it be because your sole aim is to take your portion of steem to the moon.
Not because you want to win people's attention or impress people, for impressing yourself has more far-reaching satisfying impact and is more testimonial!

Promoting steem/steemit in reality is our role. Why?
- Because it is your steem
- There is no doubt about steem/steemit's potential in impacting lives positively
- Because "steem to the moon", benefits you too
- Because the more reputable great minds in incessant mind-mining on steem, the more steem won't fail.
- Because if the numbers grow, you can run entire real-world businesses or enterprises on steem/steemit
- Because it is a way of giving
- Because it is a way of educating
- Because you want an audience
- Because you want a movement
- Because you want a team
- etc
Whether you promote steemit, @utopian-io, @busy.org, @dmania, @steepshot, @dtube, @chainbb, @esteem @chainbb @zappl @dsound @steemgigs etc or you build your own app, solely to promote it while building your empire, you are taking steem to the moon.
Promoting Steem is not as hard as you think!
Simply pick your audience and tell them of the exact app for their needs or build an app solely for their needs and promote that app.
Here are many apps on Steem that you can use organically:

- Dmania: if your friend likes imgur or 9gag
- Zappl: if your friend loves tweets
- Dsound: if your friend loves soundclound, itunes etc
- Dtube: If you friend relishes earning from vlogs
- Chainbb: If your friend likes forums
- Busy: if your friend is always on Facebook
- Utopian: if your friend is an innovator
- Steepshot: if you friend likes looking at photos, images or loves selfies and groupies
- etc
And A Little Improvisation
And if it is a game that may appeal to your friends and family, there are games e.g there is a recent simple game by @netuoso and alot of other games in the making, by @sirlunchthehost etc
or you can tell your friend who is a game developer to come continue building his game on steem or tell your friend who has been looking for funds to develop his open-source game, to come sync his game (github) with Utopian and get possible support from the steemit community funding-wise etc
Now if your friends are all freelancers etc, tell them https:steemgigs.org is getting ready and if they want to beat-box or create music, simply tell them of dsound or of a growing beat-boxing community being spearheaded by @jaderpogi
And just if there is no app to fit their needs, you can invite them solely to participate in contests and steemit has a ton of them daily. Simply pick one such post from https://steemit.com/created/contests
If they are fans of 9gag or Imgur, simply pick up Dmania and show that to them.
The process there upon is seamless. They will be redirected to sign-up on steemit same as they would on Facebook etc; The only slight difference is, you will need to remind them to backup their password. Overtime, interfaces on steem may start to have direct sign-ups; by-passing steemit altogether as will be the case with @utopian-io soon.
Overall, some time next year, by means of Hardfork 20, steemit sign-ups will be faster but the awareness we do even now, instead of waiting till then, can work then.
I didn't join steemit, the first time i learned about steemit. I eventually joined by means of an organic blog that i found in the search engine, that had attempted to answer my then question and whose author i connected with!
Why bring your own community or friends & family?
"Steem to the moon" aside; you will have your own like-minded people from the get-go to spark your fire and you do need fire.
In today's world, in any endeavor, you do need fire and if you need fire, you need a spark!
"You and your own community" and it gets much easier to gradually take your portion of steem to the moon at least.
But I don't Have Steem Power
Hahaha, do you really really think steem power is stronger than will power or people power (community power)?
People who you invite to steemit, should want to join steemit also because of the person of you and what you represent; minnow or whale.
So let your substance grow and shine!
If you promote steemit and do posts about it and get rewarded for it, it is more that steemians are encouraging the act. It is not because you are doing better than others or cos it is our right or because we have to be rewarded for putting effort to promote steemit.
Hahaha, it is your steem too and if it is, promoting it should be a fun thing to do!
Plus, a ton of people promote steemit behind-the-scenes.
Even the simple "thank you" comment plays its role in promoting steem.

EVERY SINGLE ONE OF US is responsible for the growth of steemit.
We have to bring more people to the platform, steem is just not popular enough.
I am 100% sure, there are millions of people out there, who would directly join steemit on love the platform.
I can talk for myself: If I didn't get to know steemit by accident I wouldn't be here because nobody of my circle of friends knew from this opportunity right here.
I am on steemit for over a month now and I don't really use Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram that much anymore.
I hope I would have heard of steemit earlier..
And because I know that many people out there think the same, I told my family, friends and other contacts about steemit and they love it.
a few of them already signed in and more will follow.
Also people on Facebook texted me and asked about steemit, because I publish my content On Facebook too.
People love it, if they know it. So do your best to make to make steemit more popular guys!
Steemit is growing and growing and there are already very much projects currently on steemit and there are more to come.

You are very right my friend. Even when I think Steemit is already fairly know...guess what? I am very wrong! I just finished a webinar to some 125 people now. Bad before my lecture got under way, I asked if there was anyone who know about steem. The answer was, a 'no' in a group of 125 people despite all the awareness that's ongoing in Nigeria today.
I was startled. I have resolved to give steemit promotion some 80 % of my time next year.
@surpassinggoogle taught me to see myself as a stake holder in steem holdings. And since then, I have never looked back in my promotion of Steemit at every slightest opportunity.
All hands most be on deck to realize globalization of steem blockchain. We will achieve this... I have no doubt we will.

That’s funny. I also met Steemit by accident via a Skillshare class i was watching.
I keep telling everybody about Steemit and now that I am writing my travel blog on Steemit, instead of starting an own blog, I hope that some of my friends and family will come and join the big Steemit family. I also talk about Steemit with the people I meet on my journey. I even have business cards with my Steemit address.
I also startet one or to Pinterest boards for Steemit Tipps and tricks and my own Steemit posts.
One handicap is that if you come over to Steemit without having known it before, it somehow doesn’t look trustworthy enough and a little bit chaotic.
Which just brings me to the idea, that I could create a footer telling more about me for every post, making it look more like a personal blog somebody would trust...
Anyway, I for my part do the promotion work...

I am a new member of STEEMIT. I heard about this from a friend and we tried signing up, but we both do not know how to efficiently post topics/blogs. We would greatly and gratefully appreciate some help. May somebody generously spend time by giving me instructions about few basics of @STEEMIT? I already know about inserting images, formatting texts like BOLD and ITALIC. I do not know other than that. I already made some posts but seems like inefficient.

This reminds me of the acronym "WAHOR" which the Ron Paul supporters frequently used: "We All Have Our Roles". I really like it.
In my previous software career (ended, hopefully temporarily, by concussions), I tended to play a "support" role, helping to build a solid infrastructure so that the "rock star developers" could build a much better structure.
They were the rock stars. But if they built their castle on a swamp, it'd be more likely to burn down, fall over, and then sink into the swamp... :)
My role was essential for their success. Or like we said at a company I worked at which went public, "An overnight success! -- ten years in the making." :)
No doubt. Same applies here. One may get to carried away and feel he is doing more than others etc and others may get discourage by the small they feel the offer. In reality, there is no true measure of it and here on steemit. Most people use steemit.com and sometimes post payout as a measure of it but it isn't and can't be sufficient as a true measure so to be every role is equal, even a simple "thank you" goes a long way and depending on its timeliness can be all that's needed to fix someone. Long time. My mum died in the last few weeks, so i have been struggling. I spent her last 16 days with her and before that had not seen her for close to 5 years
I think the best is to just do your own thing whether you are talented or #untalented, you will always pass message. Like someone said even in a non-sense there is sense. And i truly agree with that. Just do your best and leave the rest.

I agree, there are few "measures" in life that truly demonstrate one's worth. I think gifting is one of them, but then, crowing about one's gifts tends to denigrate them.
A few days ago, I read about a society which values their people based on how much they give away. Which is really neat, as I had an idea for a coin with those characteristics a few weeks ago: rather than "proof of work" or "proof of stake", it'd be "proof of spend".
I searched for it when I had the idea, and came across only one other person asking about it, in a forum post with no comments. So, the idea has been thought of before, but doesn't seem like it had been developed.
One downside I can see to it is: someone creates two accounts, and moves a set of coins back-and-forth. Two ways to handle that, technically: the "proof-of-spend" would have time periods, so the rewards are for the coins one spent during a certain period of time. It could track the coins, and detect whether they're "circling" during that time interval -- and, if so, those coins would only account for one "spend", not all of the ones that happened.
Another way would be to have the fees higher, but that then presents downsides to adoption of the coin in general, so I'd rather not do that. Perhaps two coins could be created, similar to STEEM and SBD? One would be monitored for spending, and the other would be the reward. And, thinking while typing, I suppose the reward could be in BTC. But then it would require some backing, so perhaps two new coins would be better. Or just one coin. Anyway...
It's good that you got to spend time with her. Way back in college, I had two relatives pass, a couple years apart. I overslept for the Saturday morning bus when my grandmother was failing, and thought to myself, "I can go next weekend" -- and she passed during the week. I was heart-broken, thinking I had failed her. My uncle later was dying of cancer, and I made the effort to make the trip. He was strapped to the bed, writhing in pain, no intelligence behind those eyes. It was very sad and traumatic. There's no good way to lose someone.

I like the question you ask about " how can any content- creation platform out there beat steemit/steemit....?" I dont think they can only if they will have to copy the platform. But even if they try to copy steemit/steem like the motto of 7UP ( the difference will be clear). You can try to be like someone but can you actually be like that person? Just like someone trying to be like you.......(laughing). Though the person will try but you can only be. When i see people put things on facebook now, really i feel sorry for them especially when its something that is intellectual in nature. I feel I wish this can put this on steemit/steem.
What is happening on this blockchain is really mind blowing because you just find out the world is filled with great mind.
Steemit/steem has created a reputation for itself and it will take time before any other platform ca beat it. Just facebook when it came.
Now the good thing about steemit is that their is room for constant improvement and upgrade. Thanks to all kinds of project like #steemgig, #untalented, #utopia-oi, #busy etc. Just to mentioned few. THE MOON SHOULD BE READY FOR US BECAUSE WE ARE COMING WITH FULL FORCE.

I am still owing your awesome comments on my previous post but i will get to them. I am slower these days cos of energy levels and mood but i will be there. The beauty of steemit is the blockchain it is on. the capacitiy of this blockchain and its speed, its feelessness etc is where no other copy can beat it. Anther thing is ease of use. For many of these other upcoming social interfaces, they may have good proposal but i tell you, just to get on them for the several i have seen, you ill have to download an entire blockchain and gosh this is a hassle, slows your PC and sucks out all your internet and pc resources cos of this too, there is no google ranking which is steemit's secret weapon. Soon there will be a steemit post answering any topic or question organically in the search engines and this is the height of genuis and where steemit is just bound to go mainstream. if you have been on the internet for long, you will understand better, till date insurance companies still pay 50 dollars per click for ads that may not bring a customer. just a click and they lose 50 dollars. and their sole aim is to appear on the first page of google. A simple steemit blog can accomplish this without much effort. this is the aspect of a steemit blog that many miss out on as the goald becomes to please just the steemit audience and get blinded to other facets of steemit beauty. There are ton of things i can say but i will stop, so we can go. Let's go

Bring your own community and i spoke of your portion of steem. i was touching there on catering to your community and not inviting people solely cos your imitating others or trying to attract votes etc. i also spoke of building a whale but on steemit i am very technical when dispensing info so that info attains in intending purpose to upbuild and inspire. You know it is a community and you have been here for long and you know how community works. For the new ones staying, i work on that lot in the DMs. Thank you for an awesome comment. Aww dreemit, what can i say, you are full of so much love, it is so touching and sweet that i get speechless. You know i look at steemit and it has life and all its lessons in it and reminds me of humans and how much so the same we are. It is like a mirror and thoguh people don't know it, they are so displayed and its there, with all the eliteness, they are still too much human with all the flaws and it is so obvious even when they feel they can determine other people's value. No one has unforgivable crimes here because everyone so has flaws. Steemit is like cctv for me and its fun to see and a very learning experience. I am slow in my energy level this period, so i am not fast to reach all the comment. I love you and especially now with you and your dad. It is tough. I have notice about these cancer issues, that its the infection part that is even the more harmful part. my mum's was not noticed till it was too late because we didnt have knowledge and not even the doctors in these developing nations. they just keep focusing on the anemia but the infection was the problem like the pneumonia in this case and my mum wasnt showing symptoms, mostly weakness. I am glad they spotted that for your dad in the meantime and that they are working on it. If i came to USA, i will tell you my story more fully. it breaks that heart. In posts, it can't be fully expressed because the tears will be missing

There is no limit on how we can work on steemit and also help boost the Steem, We all have to join hands together and work so as to enable the Steem spring up, Steem is currently struggling to make a space and moon up but with our consistent help we can help ease that struggle and see Steem at the top as we are all benefactors if it does, So why don't we want to raise it?? currently we are all focused on the sbd which is pegged at a dollar and will also return to a dollar, Why not work for something that is certain to be up permanently and not fluctuate like the sbd.
You have written well, we should work for what will stay up and not fluctuate.
Apart from promoting steem, we aren't to dwell too much on how steem won't work but more on how we won't let it fail

I am doing good, still waiting to get to move into my house, but at least it is done, we are now waiting on the city too get the state to approve the permit for the transformer for the electric to be connected. Hoping for a Christmas Miracle, as I was told it can be as quick as a week to as long as 3 months before the state approves it. Talk about stressful.

My cousin immediately signed up that day... Unfortunately, they're having a problem right now since my uncle's father died... However, after everything settles down they'll be on here.. I'll be telling my other cousins about other alternatives.. Sorry about the flu. Rest is good. I am resting too. My mum died and it is still fresh. I spent the last 16 days of her life with her from hospital to hospital. Burial was recently done too. Before that i hadn't seen her for close to 5 years. So i am in rest mode too

If we make it happen and eventually make Steem high, it is for out own good, we don't need to impress people to work on something that would benefit our pockets l, The current price of the Steem and sbd is so wide and it has been like that for almost two weeks or more, since the increase I found a video yesterday that could explain better why the sbd was up and meanwhile was meant to be tagged at a dollar, At the end of the video the user said it would surely go down because what goes up must surely come down, Hahaha, Steem is the real deal we should focus on it and I hope it overcome this struggles lately.

Doesn't exactly need money. You can always improvise. The card is an effective improvisation. Then share steemit posts of established users using posts in the niche of your audience. You can hijack meetups that are already in existence and add to it a steemit agenda. You can also invite steemians to talk in video calls or lt them record the videos in advance. Plus, the normal step to take, is to elevate your own journey first, this will give you way more impact.

#africa is for africa in general too. I know many steemians who reside in SA. You will come accross them overtime. The image i laid out is all you need. You simply show it to the printer and they will print copies on hard card-like paper. You can edit the contact number in the text to be yours and perhaps the gift amount to the SA currency, then show off new people who join (their #introduceyourself post). i don't mind seeing these posts

In your case, you may have to join in with some from SA. I will look for way to drop you link to the #africa discord. There are lot of SA residents there. giantbear, dragonslayer, dracosalieri, onetree etc are all in SA. Since you life faraway from the city area.
Ultimately if you have what you have in mind already, things will start to pave way. If there is money or even steemians in your area can do things, like courier printouts. Steemians can do these things

To be successful on this platform then you need to look beyond just making money or SBD. There is more to steemit/steem. Thus point has been repeatedly emphasized but i still people that just want to keep doing it for the of the monetary gain. I think that should be a secondary thing. The primary purpose should be that everyone to see this platform as an avenue to prove a point the world or any one that cares to know the stuff they are made through various invention and ideas that can be displayed through this platform.
If everyone can have that mentality then landing o the moon is a reality that can quickly.
I try to focus more on buliding my Steem Power(sbd) in other to be more useful like @surpassinggooogle to the newbies and minnows. And as well acquire more Steem in order to build this platform to what we want it to be. Thats why I refuse to Power down.
I'm not saying those that power down don't have plan but am only trying to share my own long time plan for this platform.
I pray the steemit/ steem will continue to grow especiaily when it is finally lunched officially.
