Where Da Whales AT! Hoop, Hoop!
OK here we go, to begin with just so anyone that reads this knows, I am not a whale. I am a new user pretty much, little more then three weeks on Steemit. I now understand what I have to do here to catch the eye of a "whale" or a whole pod of whales for that matter! I am not saying all of this because I am over confident, much the opposite really, I say this because I have put my self in there shoes. I see myself down the road when I HAVE EARNED MY KEEP, when I have put in the blood, sweat and tears of creating content. I will not just up vote individuals because they ask me to, I have to see that they are serious about putting in the work and bringing some value to this platform. I don't believe that this is a place of instant gratification, and the "whales" that came before me have put a lot of time and energy into making this platform what it is today. We the minnows, have to do the same. I have to bring something to the table in order to establish myself on this platform! I will not beg for hand outs from anyone on this site, I either make it here on the merits of my work or i don't make it at all!!! There are some that do not have what it takes to reach the top on this platform, and that's fine. That does not mean you are a worthless human being, it just means that you have to find a place where you are going to make it to the top. One of the reasons I really love this platform is that it is teaching me how to express my thoughts, and ideas more accurately. By typing out what I have to say, I have to find the correct words to best describe what I want to say. Now some if not all of you may have no problem typing out or making a video of what you want to get across but I have never, until doing Steemit, typed what I want to say out so that people could read it. I would only talk to people face to face, or on the phone, and of course I text people, but that is really not the same as this. Case and point before Steemit i had very limited expression capability when typing, three weeks+ later I am getting much better, and it feels good to just say what I want to say so that all you wonderful steemians can read it. I have made quite a few posts now and I put some work into them, like I said this is not that easy for me yet, so yes it is work for me! I DO NOT, expect to be up voted by whales yet, if I end up getting some power votes awesome! That is not what I am banking on though, again I HAVE TO PUT IN THE WORK, then and only then will it all fall in line.
Wrap It Up!
Well that's my two cents worth of information, and I hope it does not discourage any of my fellow minnows from going on this wonderful journey. I just have seen a few posts by established bloggers talking about "the whale vote", and felt it was my time to add to the discussion. If you really want to be here and you put effort into Steemit, like pretty much all things, it will pay off. I suggest if you are not getting what you think you deserve for your post, step back and analyze why not? You have to be a critic of your own work as well, all of us are judging your content and that is why some post get higher rewards and some don't. That does not mean follow the money either, be you and if you were meant to make money doing this, you will! OK, I go now! Much love and Steem On! @Tiandao (Heavens Blade)

Very thoughtfully written @tiandao and indeed right. Content is everything with a little bit of luck of it getting seen. But that will come with time (we hope).
We both joined about the same time and myself I am doing OK I think. I would have liked more input but I guess my content is not appealing yet. But I am still finding my style and way around. I have some ideas for new content and will be introducing them dreckly.
I have to admit I would have like more feedback on my Poem 'The Trees' but what I did get was positive I just need more people to see in and in time they. We have to have a little bit of faith and patience. wishing you well :)
Firstly thank you for the compliment, and seconed I know what you mean about the input to my content. I as well am just getting my feet wet with some of my content, may find a very specific rout to take. Allot of ideas, and yes a little faith and luck goes a long way. I am so amazed how you learned to write so well in English in such a short time. I have been blessed to be able to find really good and true people on Steemit. For some reason I get drawn to the most grounded and spiritual people on this site.
