Resteeming is Awesome!

in #steemit8 years ago (edited)

This is just a notice to anyone following me.
You have a new feature called "resteem"!
This feature allows you to share posts from other people with all of your followers.
I'm going to start using this to highlight content 2 or 3 times a day that I think is worth a second look.
If you have something I may have missed, please feel free to link it here and I'll add to my list of things to look at here shortly. I can't promise I will resteem it (looks like it counts as one of your daily blog postings), but I can promise to look at it and give you some comments and feedback.

Your resteem button looks like a bent arrow.
If you don't see it, you may need to press F5 on your browser to get it to show up.

Also one other reminder...
The change to voting weights was backed out in this hardfork.
That means you still have up to 20 full power votes a day, even if you have the slider!
Thanks everyone!

I've used this feature a couple times now. I think it has great potential to increase the visibility of under-appreciated posts, but I really don't like how resteemed posts show up in your blog. I want my blog to be full of my content, not everyone else's (that's what my feed is for). I also think the resteem button needs an "are you sure?" dialog. I already pressed it once by mistake, so now there's a post sitting in my blog that doesn't have anything to do with the general theme of the posts I write. And no way to remove it, argh.

unresteem? Might be good to open it as an issue on github though.

That's great @williambanks sometimes there's good content that does require that second pass to go through all the feed again. The link below is to a blog I posted with a video of The Joe Rogan Experience podcast with Andres Antonopoulos, an expert on encryption. They talk about cryptocurrencies which is what @dantheman created with steemit when we share, upvote, comment and resteem interesting content here because let's face it we all want that up vote to raise the value of our posts.

My feed is full of resteemed posts, getting hard to keep up

Lol, sorry about that. I've hit the max limit on postings for the day just by resteeming, so at least in my case it's going to take some time to cool off. Hopefully that will help your feed slow down a bit.

I think everyone was resteeming at the same time I got a load through lol

Powerful multiplier here. Thanks for the tip.

It's a good feature but please consider your followers before reblog.
I had to scroll 3 or 4 pages of reblog that does not interest me in my feed.
upvoting the people I followed is taking more time now.

I will be more careful and use it only to highlight content that I feel is really needs a second look. Sorry about that.

funny thing is i actually accidentally resteem something I meant to upvote all because I was reading on my mobile and the upvote is above the resteem on my Samsung Galaxy S5.

heheh... it's not a big deal but when everyone you followed resteem one assume the author post just one, there's 2 times but I sense some people give up scrolling down to last upvoted feed post and we lose out upvotes from the followers in the end. just a thought. I mentioned in a comment to another post, if you know your maths, this is the power of exponential.
By the way, you are not the biggest resteemer in my feed. :-)

Man, the resteem button has been good to me today. Two active posts with users like @andrarchy and @jesta sharing my content. I couldn't be happier. I've already started following a few new authors because their great content is being resteemed into my feed. I love it!

I noticed this and I think it's pretty awesome.
My one question about it is: If we have posts past the 30 days/second payout and resteem it, can it begin to earn again?

Sadly I don't think so. Also you can't resteem your own stuff either.
But what you can do is highlight the content of others!

Thanks for clarifying..

Just when I think I'm getting the hang of things around here they go adding new stuff.....

OMG, I know tell me about it. At least they didn't break "Commander Steem" by changing too much stuff though. This is probably the best change to occur since I got here back on launch day in July.

Thank you very much for the information

You're very welcome and I hope it's helpful!

Thank you hope to live up to the circumstances, for my part will try to put the best of my

isn't it great? awesome updates keep coming :D

Completely agreed. With this and #nameinlights I think we really have an opportunity now to showcase our favorite followers. Especially those who are trying really hard and never manage to get any attention or traction.

Yes it is! I am going to resteem this post... wanna resteem mine? ;) https://steemit.com/steemit/@jrcornel/what-i-have-learned-during-my-first-60-days-on-steemit-com

Yeah that was great content! I resteemed it for my followers. Great attitude and excellent info!

You are on my list and I resteem for all good posts. Will we soon a bookmark for internal posts?

I just resteemed this post. :)
There would be a great amount of gratitude from this side of the table if you were to return that favor with my latest post. :D

Awesome! Yeah I will resteem you of course, I just need to wait a bit, I've maxed out my resteems for the day evidently. I guess it really does count as a blog post.
Anyone else reading this, I'd consider it a personal favor if you resteemed the posts of anyone else asking for a little extra exposure in here. Thanks!

Ah! I wondered about that! That's definitely an interesting twist to the new feature if they do indeed count toward your daily allotted posts. Hm....

Now that I'm off work, I looked a little closer at my steemd.com numbers, and in the past 24 hours, I've reblogged 2 things and posted 1 thing. So far, my posts per day only seems to be counting my post, not my reblogs.

Remember you get 4 blogs though and at 5 that's when the penalty begins to kick in.

Yes, but you can see in steemd.com where your post bandwidth is for the day. If you haven't posted anything, you'd be at 0. Then, 1 post = 10,000. Therefore 4 posts would = 40,000. Go over that and you get penalized.
Yesterday I made one post (10,000), and the reblogs didn't add to that figure.

Good post, voted and followed :)

Awesome! Thanks and I'm following you now too!

Yes I have used it a few times. Including this post!

Thanks! I really appreciate that!

It's a great feature honestly. I'm happy to be on Steemit within the first million signups!

Thanks for this helpful info. As a new user to steemit, I did not know this.

Resteem my stuff if you find it good, please :)
Thx!

Voted and following, coz good info! Check my intro and resteem if you are interested, Thanks!

My question is, can the resteemer make any money from resteeming?

i want to know the same thing lol
