From Steemit to HIVE: The Story of How @meesterboom Brought a Lost Boy Home

I'm too old for global changes, changes = stress, and I'm too old not to be afraid of stress. But, I have to meet the changes. To develop, to increase knowledge and wealth, and to pass all this on to my son. Believe me, children motivate you more than anything, and my six-month old heir motivates me every second.

So, a few months ago I remembered about Steemit, which was associated with a rather long period of my life and in which I invested quite a lot of myself. How can you not remember about Steemit when Bitcoin costs $ 50,000, right guys? :)

Maybe I can create a couple of good posts, and my little grumbler will get another toy to help me sleep.

Well, hello, my dear, my beloved Stee.. Wait a second, something is wrong (the growing hum of the stress wave). I can't read 99% of the posts because I don't know Korean.

Let's be honest, I couldn't read all the posts before, because English is not my native language. Anyway, a few lessons with an English tutor allowed me to leave comments under someone else's post like "Good post", "Thank you" and "London is the capital of Great Britain". And I tried to delve into other people's articles. I don't have a chance with new Steemit.

Steemit Before and Today for not Korean user

Don't cry man, your child is asking for a new toy, you can't give up so easily. Maybe a couple of posts in English will reveal a different layer of the audience. Attempt one-no, attempt two-no. Ok, I've never been the most popular author, or even average, but three voices from small bots is not normal. It's time to think a little.

Now most of the posts are published in communities, there are no free tags. And all the top communities are Korean again. Do I have the right to join them, if I don't even understand what the ideology of this community is? Maybe this is a regional branch of ISIS, which decided to make money on cryptocurrency.

It's age again ... my grandfather taught me that you shouldn't fit into a sect if you don't share their desire to sacrifice kittens. I mean, I don't understand which community I can join so as not to feel superfluous there. You can say: Come on dude, this is a social network! Who cares? Nobody cares. Not for me, son, not for me… My grandpa sees everything.

Think, think, think. Why is everything in Korean, where are the English-speaking authors who were at the origins? They couldn't leave so easily, they loved this place, and the place loved and rewarded them. They have invested a lot of time and effort here, and some even money. All these whales and orcas have swum away somewhere…

Let's look friends blogs. Strange, there is activity, but no rewards. Have they ceased to be popular? Maybe, but they couldn't just give up. Remember someone with unique content and great power. What were their names, who was it? Names, dates of birth, addresses, favorite food… All these nicknames, why didn't anyone sign up as John or Ivan?! It's hard for me to remember someone... wait...

Something appears in my decrepit brain. Some signals are trying to pass along the old paths of neural connections, to places where I haven't been for a long time. There was some guy with bright posts and funny style. Something about a bomb ... or ... no, the neural path is inaccessible, like a destroyed bridge to the other side of the river. Coffee break.

Bomb, bomb, bomb, explosion, funny content, constantly published, bright pictures, crazy images. Looks like Andy Dick. It seems an Englishman, not sure. Probably because I learned English-English, not American, everyone who speaks English for me are British.

So, a bomb, an explosion, Andy Dick, The British. British… there was a second word in the nickname, sounds like sir, peer, my lord...no. That's right, mister! @meesterboom!!! (Please don't be mad at me, but in my language, meester sounds very similar to mister)

How I see @meesterboom

Thats who can tell me what happened and where everyone went. Everything will become clear soon… The last post was published 11 months ago. Well, well, there's definitely some mystery here.

It's time to use secret technologies and look for something other than porn and diapers. My old ass feels like I'm close to solving. Quiet sonny, quietly, soon your dad will earn us millions of cryptocurrencies.

Aha! HIVE! That's where all the English-speaking fish swims now...or are they now bees, drones, larvae, queens? Interesting…

Read, read, yeah great, all accounts before the fork are transferred to HIVE, great. Wow, and even with a balance, super, it seems i had $200. Trying to go to the website. Hmm, the platform is blacklisted by the regional internet provider. Strange, but not a problem, we will climb through a VPN and…

Here it is, the Promised Land! (music of angels plays). source

I can read again, and here are the usual tags. Where is this Englishman who brought me out of the Korean darkness ... Yes, he's here, with up-to-date posts. This is exactly the Steemit (excuse the HIVE) that I was looking for. Me and my son are crying with happiness. Well, I’m from happiness, but he probably pooped again ... maybe from happiness too.

And if to be little serious, then this is a very interesting feeling. As if you left for a long time from the city in which you lived for a couple of years. When you returned, you realize that now completely different people live in it. The street names have changed, everyone speaks a language you don't know, the mayor's office has introduced new laws that you don't understand.

After wandering a little through the streets, and looking for familiar places, you see that everything is abandoned. Nostalgia rolls over you, and you understand that you have not been here for too long, and changes are not waiting for anyone.

Before you finally leave, you decide to go to an old friend's house (@meesterboom), what if he's still here. But his apartment is abandoned, the walls are covered with obscene graffiti and there are no whole glass left in the windows. After leaving this house, you decide to look around for the last time and accidentally find a leaflet:

Due to the change in the social and environmental situation, the mayor's office decided to move all residents with their property to a new city, where the best traditions of our community remain unchanged. You can find the new city at: HIVE. Welcome and come back home!

Sort:

Welcome! Glad you found the joint, I couldn't find my way around the other one either. Never hearda @meesterboom, I'm sure he's not bad for a Scott.

I have heard he is an evil warlord intent on stealing the still beating hearts from the bosoms of the fine ladies of the internet.

Yeah, definitely something like that :OD

Oh, him.

Yes, terrible eyebrows but he does like gravy, so all is not lost

...or is it you just fondle the bosoms?

I heard he is a right banger of a man!!

I heard @meesterboom brings a lot of boys home.

Oh hang on, that didn't come out right.

Welcome. 😬

Outrageous!

don't tell the missus

It wasn't until I wrote the words that I realised that it didn't sound right. It was well-intentioned of course. I could edit it, but...Nah. 🤔

Heh heh, it made me chortle!!

Who doesn't value a decent chortle on a Saturday morning. I for one love a chortle and also enjoy giving gift-chortles.

You're welcome. 🤪

I wholeheartedly agree and that is why you are a top donk guy in my book dudester! 😀

Titan chortlers know a Titan chortler when they see one.

Loved this post. Welcome to HIVE. Still needs some work, you know - a few places where they didn't move the furniture before painting around it, a few handles missing off doors, and there's a few loose tiles on the floor where you might stub your toe if you aren't careful. But for the most part, you can read the posts. Nothing against Koreans per se, but they have made it seem like a strange other world that's impossible to navigate. Makes you realise how much a readable title is part of your GPS set up.

Thanks! :) Your metaphors are very accurate. I don't know why, but what I like most about the Hive is the red links and voices :D

I think @meesterboom should leave the neck beard, but get those balls checked by a professional ball checker. They're not supposed to be swollen like that...

Hey, that's where I keep my babies!!!!

Good point about the neck beard tho

How old are these "babies?"

Old enough to be hiding under your pillow!!!!

Do people often stare?

😂

Dude needs to go to the shower and slide one out, immediately.

Sage advice.

Is he planning on repopulating the earth?

I'd have to say yes to this question. The signs are unmistakable.

I bet it shakes when he walks.

A formal welcome to HIVE dude!!!

What a tale indeed. I laughed long and hard at the cover image. You got the tale of Steemit right from that comment on reddit. Hijacked by Justin Sun and turned into a steeming shitshow!

Hive is much much better. Communities are here and actually work! But you can also just post and use varisou tags. I like your style, keep up the writing and maybe get that boy a new toy! :OD

I'm glad that you liked it! :) And thank you again! Of course, in a parallel universe, there is a possibility that I would have found HIVE without remembering your posts (I could have used Google right away). But I really thought that you couldn't just disappear into nowhere :)

Hive really looks like something better. One of these days I will try to see which communities are suitable for me here

Hehe, I am sure you would have found it.

Hive is great. I would use the proofofbrain tag on any random life writing sort of posts. It is a general tag and can earn you POB tokens which are on sale in the hive-engine. Dont worry, you will find your way about it all.

You can also download keychain as an extension and keep all your keys in it which keeps everything quite fluid. It is very safe, your keys never leave your browser.

I hope you enjoy dudeski!

Thanks for advices and support!

No worries man, glad you made it over :0)

No worries man, just glad you made it!

About POB tokens and hive-engine. So, I can just use the proofofbrain tag, and when paying for a post, my wallet on hive-engine can pop up automatically with POB tokens? I haven't been able to find any fundamental articles about how it works here yet.

Yeah, if you go to hive engine, https://hive-engine.com/?p=balances&a=natord you will see what tokens you have. If you have tagged a post proofofbrain and it has paid out and you had some rewards in that tribe then you will get them in your hive engine wallet and you can keep them, stake them (like hivepower) or sell them for hive.

Ok. tnahks!)

Well, about time ;-)

Just Nuke'em!

From orbit!!!

Hi @natord ,If you want to earn money to buy new toys I recommend HIVE, steemit, it should not be called that, better coresteem, the Koreans took over this site, I tell you because I give one of them a vote in minute 3, here the post has a value of 05 and then in minute 6 the publication has a value of 300 steem, please, they are not subtle at all, the only thing that catches my attention about steemit, is to win TRON, but you must be very patient, and hey, don't comment to the Koreans, they just don't respond, the monopoly is evident.
@meesterboom ,it will always make us smile

Hi! Thanks so much for your experience and advice. I see, that many Hive users duplicate their posts on Steemit (or vice versa, nvm). Well, why not, everyone makes a decision. Anyway, I think that not all the content will be appropriate on both sites. For example, like this pst :)
