Nestor and Moana Meet Online

In 2018, the same year when Moana started studying Mechanical Engineering at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Nestor graduated from the University of Washington with a Bachelor of Science in Software Engineering.

In September, Nestor initially worked for 4 years as a Software Engineer for Lower Mainland Software Enterprises (LWSE), a company that specialized in high integrity software for their clients.

LWSE had this particularity that all its software was open source. The benefit for their clients was that they were not stuck if, by any chance, LWSE would become bankrupt.
However, the documentation and artifacts related to certification of the software delivered was not open source. If another client was interested in certification for a software product, they would have to buy it from LWSE.

Nestor worked for various projects for LWSE in robotic software, artificial intelligence and even gaming software.

Moana soon after arriving in British Columbia got her motorcycle license and bought herself a motorbike. Then she got a car driving license, even though she had no intention of buying a car.

After her first year at UBC, in summer 2019, Moana returned to Tahiti for the month of July to visit her family. There are plenty of cultural festivities in Tahiti during the month of July; they are called Heiva. For the next three years, Moana returned to Tahiti for the month of July.

In August 2019, Moana returned to Vancouver. She had registered for truck driving school, because she had foreseen that self-driving trucks were the future of trucking, and she wanted to get a job in this domain. She got a truck driving license in December.

When she had no classes to attend, she worked for the next three years for various trucking companies, usually replacing a driver in a duo. When she was not driving, she was still able to study online in the cabin of the truck.

In 2022, Nestor and his brothers Valentin and Archibald decided to create their own company: RG Core Technologies. They never really explained to anybody the reason their company had this name.
Archibald had proposed the company to his brothers. They would designed robots. They would build and demonstrate some and would license the design to manufacturer.

Nestor was the software engineer. He insisted that the software should be open source.

Initially, the three brothers did not quit their day jobs; the worked for RG in the evening and on week-ends.

In 2022 too, Moana graduated from UBC with a bachelor in Mechanic Engineering. However, she did not look for an engineering job. She started working as a truck driver, working for a company that she had already worked part time for more than a year. When she was not driving, she was supervising the maintenance of the trucks of the company.

Both Nestor and Moana, like many young adults, were enjoying playing video games, specially the Battle Royale genre. Of course they played Fortnite, but also other similar games.

And in 2023, they met online on a forum dedicated to players of Battle Royale video games.

Sort:

I'm expecting a disaster of some sort to unfold, perhaps something software-ish!

Not from the RG Core Technologies software, I hope!
Difficulties, perhaps, but no disaster.

Difficulties will suffice! :0)
