The Old Dog Presents: Testimonial Tuesday Week Two. An Act of Kindness! Share Encourage And Earn!

in #testimonialtuesday6 years ago (edited)

Please be patient with me. Round One has already closed and I need some more time to go through some more of your testimonials to pick out the best ones. I'll get them organized in the next few days and make some payouts to you dear Steemians in a summary post!

Watch for it but in the meantime let's keep moving ahead to Week Two!

Week Two is All About Kindness!

We live in a world that is often harsh and brutal. For the most part Steemit is different. It is friendlier and less trollish than other sites! I like living in a kind world and I'm sure that most of you do too!

Here's What We're Looking For!

  • Please describe an act of kindness that you've had shown to you here on Steemit
  • Keep the description to a maximum of 100 words in the comment section below
  • If you make a post please use the tag testimonialtuesday and make it as long as you wish. I will try and visit and upvote it but you need to have a maximum 100 word summary in the comments here below in order to be eligible for a prize.
  • I will select the most inspiring experiences, reward them with Steem and make a summary post with the best ones!
  • How much will the prizes be? For this round the Minimum will be 10 Steem!

I'm very much looking forward to your testimonials as part of our Testimonial Tuesday contest with the week's theme "An Act of Kindness!"

Until next time,

@kus-knee (The Old Dog)

Let's Succeed Together!

Sort:

This is an easy one!! An act of kindness I received here on Steemit was done by a very kind and generous person!! That person would be @kus-knee!!

I had been on Steemit for almost a month now and I decided to do my introduction post and that day changed my life!! I met @kus-knee and he helped me a lot and still helps me up to today!! He even helped me come up with my slogan “ Steemits 13 year old blogger” which has changed to 14 now!!

I even see @kus-knee helping hundreds of other people too!! That’s what makes him so kind, generous and giving!!!

I would have written more about how he helped me but 100 word limit!!

Thanks for your kind words. That's very kind of you to say. I need to exclude myself though!

Do you remember when I even didn't know what the market was.......

Yes and now you are Teaching me things!

You told too many tricks then :D

In order to help Mr. @kus-knee, this is the translation: I will write in my native language, I hope you can read me, Mr @kus-knee, the opportunity is propitious to thank. In my country we went through a difficult economic situation, buying food and medicines is almost impossible. When I got to Steemit I started to publish but I felt invisible and sad, I evaluated it as an option among so many to survive and buy food the most basic for my family. But since I embraced my Bonsay and you voted for my photo, plus a couple more, I was very happy to have a help. I'm still here, always thankful and with faith.

Gracias Ricardo por el apoyo. Un abrazo grande.

Thanks for the translation!

muy bien escrito!

I'm so happy that you're still here and doing your best! Keep moving forward with hope!

@psidema, esta es la traducción: Estoy muy feliz de que aún sigas aquí y estés haciendo lo mejor de tu parte! Siga hacia adelanta con esperanza!

An act of kindness i have been shown here on Steemit can be drawn down to one simple post. Its a post from @Kus-knee which started with the below.

Kus Comment.jpg

I dont know how clear the comment has come out, but its the start of the comment which i am referring to which i am ranking as the highest form of support i have been shown on the platform. A bit of context as to why.
Being new on Steemit i had to change my plan of action, with so many great articles on one platform it was easy to feel anxious about posting. I had delayed and scrapped some of my articles as i was worried they deviated to much from the norms of the platform such as: Crypto analysis, why we should all buy specific coins and the dreaded pump and dump groups.

After feeling anxious about some of my posts i decided to focus on supporting articles which interested me and commenting on the posts which led me to reading an article from @Kus-Knee.

@kus-knees reponse to my comment began like this: "Great comment. Why not post about it on your own since you've been inspired? You'll have my vote and tons of support from me while you get established here."

The fact that there was someone on the platform who was happy to show support was enough to keep me determined. This was by no means the only act of kindness was shown to me from T.O.D. To help me get established i was sent Steem, given a formal introductory post, and given some great tips on how to to use on the platform. Following the support i was shown from The Old Dog, i decided i to wanted to help other Steemit users and introduce more people to the platform. I am speaking with a leading contributor to a UK based charity forum and i will be bringing up Steemit in the meeting.

Thank you for your support Old Dog and i hope to repay it. For now i am keen to support other users the way i have been supported. This includes contributing to conversations on the platform, bring new people to the platform, and support current contributors to promote there posts.

I owe you one.

I am also aware i have gone way over the word count but i am happy to say there is no need to promote or respond to this message as there are so many great responses on here. But i hope this post shows my appreciation for your support, not only to myself but to other Steem users i have come across whom you have supported.

Regards

The Young Dog.

Thanks a lot for your kind words. Much appreciated!

No problem, had i have not seen this blog post it would have been on my actual post. FYI you can expect this post to be expanded into a post on my official blog soon :)

Kus-knee, you are a example for all of us, the way you react on posts, its always kind and full of patience, and i do believe to in be kind to every living soul, people who are guided by a soft personality are mostly follow there example , by feeling loved, they will treat they fellow human the same way.
The world can be a place of love and security

Thanks for your encouraging words and continued support!

I remember when the Old Dog himself used to send out the 1 Steem for a bone!!! The good old days lol.

I just want to state that to me one of the all time nicest and most self sacrificing and generous people on this site is @dswigle. She always does the most thoughtful and sweetest comments. Not to mention she is incredibly generous in her constant tipping of nearly everyone she meets. So much so that I call here a tipaholic! She is just too kind and will probably be blushing when she reads this, but anyone who knows her will confirm it's the truth.

You have coined a new word. "Tipaholic"! I like it!

I'd gladly participate if there were no rewards, heh :d
Kindness is not about getting anything back.
It's like: Save a kid and get 100$! Don't miss the opportunity!

Hahaha yes I know what you mean. It can easily be misconstrued as contradictory!

Rewarding commenters here is one way for me to show kindness by sharing in the rewards. I'm an early adopter and I've had a lot of success. My goal is to help others as much as possible and to try and foster a kind and helpful spirit.

We can easily find other threads where there is a lot of complaining and fighting. I'd like to chronicle the other side, the side that I've seen, the side that many feel happy to be part of!

In any case I'm looking for examples of kindness done to you not what you did for someone else.

Hmm... let me think about it...
Mark @exyle once invited me to his cooking session with his green egg. It was very kind of him to be so hospitable with a newcomer.

Wow, if @exyle would have invited me I would have been over the moon! I love green eggs and ham!

Oh, come on, you're exaggerating it lol. It's not like I'm over the moon. It's just nice to meet friendly and hospitable people. Comparing to other social media platforms, steemit is heaven. And we basically have the same goal trying to pursue our dreams.

Green egg is a thingy to make barbecue :d

Random acts of kindness are always my favourite and need to get exposure. Your post and new contest sure will help the world be a better place! Thanks you!!!

Namaste :)

I hope to help to spread the love!

Every behavior that we put forth as human beings is absolutely counterproductive. Some people constantly complain about what they are in. However, it is necessary to know that all negativity is hidden in the human spirit of the foundation. People who live in the self, take it without taking care of other people and make their love become a place to live. Confucius says: Knowledge saves the fear of being a person from doubt, goodness from suffering, decisiveness.
If we want to live in goodness and always want to be happy, we should pay attention to the steps we have taken. The first step is that human beings are the basis of many behaviors and the life is shaped in accordance with these steps. We have to approach people with roses, not thorns, much more meaningful, much more virtuous.

Let's Succeed Together! @kus-knee and him followers

I like what you wrote, my own philosophy about life is be kind to every living soul , it cost you noting and you receive a smile or kindness in return. it just make life so much prettier , i believe in pay it forward.
Your post is very inspiring

You took the words right out of my mouth @vee2180. My thoughts couldn't be expressed any better!

Just imagine living in a world where everyone showed your kindness.. what a place that will be!

"We have to approach people with roses, not thorns, much more meaningful, much more virtuous."

So true!

oh this is another great one.. :) i like if we can do it more often..because in most of the medias they always try to highlight the bad..a murder, crime scene, robberies, rape scenes..but they do not want to show the good things done by people..they do not want to market the good..so i think we should show more and more good done by the people..then only it will be a good motivation to others..this is my personal belief..hope you would agree with me sir :)

I do :-)

Oh I understand this topic...This is very kindness concept...
Keep it up...

Let's keep spreading kindness as much as we can!

I made a lot of donations through my posts. It's great when we help those who do not have money for basic things. Thanks for this post @kus-knee

You are a great community builder @dobartim!

Thank you for big support and kind words @kus-knee

Steemians are very kindest people on planet earth and you are on top of that.

Your making me blush!! I don't want to hear stories about me, although I do appreciate the kind words but stories about others.

An act of kindness I received on Steemit
Just 2 days ago I was shown what I consider an act of kindness by @cryptogee.
He actually send to my account the sum of 2 Steem on the reason that my comment
on his post saw deemed by him to be the best. I was surprised by his action since therewas no existing contest or whatsoever.
It was then I realized that is was an act of kindness to me. Besides that when I post or comment on a post and am rewarded with upvotes which carry SBD, that is also an act of kindness.

That's the type of thing that I find so encouraging. Spread the wealth and the blessings!

When I joined steem and made my first introduce yourself post,I saw that for couple of weeks my post did very well and people showed their support and greeted for joining steem that was very overwhelming for me, and with their support I had accomplished good relations most of the steemians and I have now made up my mind to help more of the new steemians almost every day I upvote a introduceyourself post and I make sure they feel very supportive and I try to help them out on how they can transfer money from savings or how they can use an upvote bot and ,I realize that helping others is the most rewarding thing than getting an upvote. And one of my resolution for 2018 is to help 100 steemians this year build connections with them.
I believe we will be living a much better life when we build relationships with each other and someone has rightly said "If you want to go fast go alone, but if you want to go far go together "

Very nice expressions here. Thanks!!

Well @kus-knee !

I am here on Steemit for almost 30 days. But i have met with immense acts of kindness. But I am going to share the story of My Bandwidth Issue, I and @wwf had always a very long discussion on his bog to promote PEACE & HARMONY.

As i was new comer then so i had limited capacity to write a comment, I was so worried about this issue so i discussed it with My Great Friend @wwf. He shared a blog with me that why is it happening over and over. I read all that stuff in the blog and came to know that ONE should have minimum 500 SP to avoid this issue, Because steemit allows limited capacity to write comments specifically to the NEWBIES. I had 18 SP then.
Other day we @wwf and I were doing discussion on some topic and this happened with me again and then he delegated me 180 SP to avoid this issue. Although i did not touch 500 digit yet but i am working really hard to achieve that soon.

This kind act inspired me so so much and due to this inspiration I did charity work in My school where I am a Teacher.

These small acts changed my entire approach towards life and made me a KINDNESS promoter and A BIG THANKS to steemit.

I am Rally thankful to @kus-knee who allowed me to express my feelings.

P.S : Together we can make this platform a place of LOVE and AFFECTION through our kind deeds Guys

Stay Blessed, Steem On!

Thanks for this example of practical help!

I would like to add my little story about the kind act.

I usually post about two to three posts with photos every day. And sure, I get nice comments and people engage in conversation. But this one time, a kind Steemian @bluefinstudios, after exchanging comments on my post, I have gone to do something around the house. When I got back to the computer, I found that I have had a boost from a bot thanks to @bluefinstudios. I was speechless! When I thanked him and 'told him off', he added a line: "Pass it on some time in the future to someone else..."! That is an act well deserved mentioning! 🏆

Also, the boost did cost him 1 SBD! 😦

That was very practical with actions and not just words!

It sure was! Steemit is full of very good people! I just really wanted to express my gratitude to @bluefinstudios!

I started at steemit two weeks ago and i don't a very inspiring or sad story to tell you , but i have a normal story that i going to tell you.
You know the most important part to start feel integrated in a community is to share the same interest , that is something that did not happen to my because to be honest i come to "steemit" with the idea of getting easy money , something that changed the last week when i enter a "Discord" community , I saw how everyone had fun talking about "steemit" how they related to each other as if they were friends, certainly the first few days did not matter me but two days ago I started to talk with them realizing me that steemit is not a platform to get money, if not to pass the time, , discover things and be recognized by others who share the same hobbies and tastes that you.
The moral is that, Steemit is different from Facebook, Instagram or another platform because people care a lot about this platform, you really have to strive to be recognized and it is not enough to have in mind the reward if not what you can offer that so that this community continues to grow

you make some very good observations here. Thanks a lot!

I've had a lot!
you're right about this place oozing with kindness!

.. i'm not hoping to win but it's fun to recall kindness extended to me in my box of mementos in memory lane

let me recall..
entry starts here okay

The first one was done to me by @tiffjane correcting me for misusing a tag and inviting me to join the very first Steemit contest ever hosted by her husband @jamtaylor.

The second one was extended by @pharesim and @oaldamster when I lost my password, they didn't just recommended ways to help me recover my password they even stayed up till 2 am bearing with my questions till I finally got my PW back.

Lastly, I was on the verge of leaving Steemit because I got too busy it was hard finding balance in life but a few friends kept encouraging me in many ways, @bleujay with her cheery support, @richman with his encouraging resteems, comments and PMs, Boom Dawg with supportive PMs and YOU! with a lot of gifts in my wallet! Now, I guess am disqualified this doesn't fit AN act of kindness but I can't do anything about that there's so so many 100 words won't be enough to tell about them.

Everyday, am still experiencing a lot - from newbies even! I guess that's what keeps me going on here that despite the mess we have - there's many souls of gold around here, ain't it Old Dawg?

Lots of nice expeiences here!

Offcourse it is nice when people out of the blue leave some money on your account because you reacted to a blog and he /she was happy with that. I also had a few acts of financial kindness with thanksgiving! they took me by surprise ! :-)
And that is horrible we only look at how much do we get or give, for that is seen as an act of kindness. And that is true, it is so nice to see a bigger amount than a few cents coming your way.
But an act of kindness does not have to do anything with any material amount.
I think I saw the nicest and compassion full reactions on the post of surpassinggoogle when his mum died. Offcourse there was a load off reward searching people that only reacted with sorry for your loss that also probably just meant well.
But there were a few that described pain, and loss and put so much comfort in their reply that surpassinggoogle must have had some comfort out of it.
It is hard, how can you do something to a whale that will be seen as an act of kindness?
Sending steem or sbd will nearly not been seen to them, and what does it do for kind? Nothing :-( the only thing to show your real interest, is by reaching out for words that will touch their hearts. And that I want to compliment you for!
Whatever contest I have seen you do, I saw nice prizes, but more important you react to everyone! and that feels very rewarding. And must be seen as an act of kindness. Thank you!
“Watch your thoughts, they become words;
watch your words, they become actions;
watch your actions, they become habits;
watch your habits, they become character;
watch your character, for it becomes your destiny.”

Thanks a lot for your lovely comment! I really like the saying that you quoted at the end!

we try to make that our kind of living. :-) thank you!

WOW, really cool that I found you! I am running contests myself as well to grow the community feeling and get more interaction going. My next one is going to be in 2 weeks. I also started to raise money last month here on steemit to help children who are alone over Christmas in a hospital in Croatia get toys. Have a look in my posts, it's all there.

Maybe we can hook up and help each other grow the community feeling. Anyway that's my entry!

On another note, if you are Swiss or Switzerland based, maybe you want to consider joining the Swiss community discord group. I started it today, also to grow the community feeling especially amongst Swiss (based) people here on steemit: https://discord.gg/zv4ZcC keep posting.

Thanks friend, I am now in discord with the rest of you!

Looking forward to the conversations. What a fantastic post, inspiring work!

An act of kindness!
Am writing this with tears in my eyes, some weeks ago i had severe pains below my abbdomen and i needed to be operated on for appendicitis. I begged for money but everyone turned me down,i was helpless and miserable till i met @theheralds who introduced me to steemit and sold some of his sbd for part payment. I stil own him some money and God bless him abundantly. I really find peace here and i wish to pay him back some day. @kus-knee

Thanks for letting me know about this and glad that you're OK now!

In Venezuela we are going through difficulties due to the serious economic situation resulting from the bad policies applied by the government of our beautiful country. In the month of December I obtained the vote of a stranger who was moved by the situation and decided to give me a vote that generated enough money to buy my niece's Christmas gifts. Additionally, this allowed me to place a decent Christmas plate on my table and had the opportunity to travel to a Caribbean paradise in my country, Venezuela. Without that vote I would not have had a happy Christmas.

Wow, That vote did a lot for you. How wonderful!

i have many stories to share about others but it seems i must say for myself so i go with these 2.

  1. the Greek community (@greek-trail) helps me with whatever i want to ask, they are the friendliest people i have ever met online
  2. @onceuponatime a unique person who i can say is more Greek than us except the fact that helps a lot of members of the Greek community he is gonna give me and every single person that just attended in the Greek meet up 1000 bitshares to each.... the definition of kindness

I'm so happy that you're finding the platform supportive!

For me, the most delicate and kindness person I've ever met here in Steemit is @dswigle. I do not want to abuse too much of your time, that's why I say the main (for me): disappointed with my results here, I abandoned the platform twice. Denise (@dswigle) persuaded me to come back every time. I'm grateful to that! I notice that my friend @old-guy-photos also talks about Denise. I think this says a lot! Thank you!

Thanks for this submission!

It's my pleasure and my benefit so I must thank.

I really love to do gifts and good deeds in real life. But I prefer not to tell anyone about this, because I think this is in the order of things. Here on Steemit I once paid a bot for a newcomer for Christmas. The newcomer was very happy when he saw for his post 5 of the SBD when his posts were not standing at all ...

Thanks for this. I am looking for kind things that were done to you but I am really happy that you did help another steemer!

A neighbor with economic problems (like my husband and I) registered on the page and saw positive results in just one week. As soon as he saw us at home he called us to tell us everything and without any selfishness he gave us important tips and put us in contact with people who could help us even more. I can not explain how selfless and generous he extended himself to teach us. The emotion he had trying to find with us the subjects with which we could be successful amazed me because unfortunately humanity is losing those values.

Thanks for these activities that help so much, especially minnows like me.

Thanks for sharing that!

First of all @kus-knee I would like to thank you because thanks to your contests I have come to discover a different, very creative + fun side of steemit 😄
I do not wish to get a payout for this comment, but I do wish to participate because ever since I first came here and posted my first post, I feel grateful.
💙 Grateful for steemit’s existence.
💙 Grateful for all the people that are here, watching of the newbies, upvoting, answering questions, helping in a variety of ways all of us newbies to discover the magic that is found in us and distribute it in the block chain, to remain for ever after alive.
I had done some research prior to my signing up and I had come across the @greek-trail community. I am Greek born and living in Crete.
I was excited to see that there were other Greeks, and even though I did not ask for upvotes or anything, I did ask a couple of questions in their facebook group
💙 I need to mention a few of the people that first started upvoting & (most importantly commenting) my posts, showing me the importance of team, of solidarity, of selflessness help to each other…
💙 Thank You @greek-trail, @skapaneas @ruth-girl @rouketas @onceuponatime @trumpman @filotasriza3 @dimitrisp @iliasdiamantis @nikoleondas @theodorelib @alexander.alexis @otsouvalas @amadeus @artgalleryraka @andyblack for your support, inspiration, motivation 💙
(Apologies if I forget someone, I am preparing something for all of you – hopefully soon!)
(The text is 221 words and I apologize in advance…)

I am so happy that you've found a comfortable place here on Steemit!

This story particularly moved me as through steemit and project cervantes this girl managed to leave the country. It is no mystery to anyone that the political situation in Venezuela is complicated and this gave me a lot of courage.

Thanks a lot for sharing your valuable post..And this community just outstanding ..Go ahead my friend...Resteemit ..

That you got this @kus-knee, well it was quite something way back that still brings tears to my eyes I was relatively new and nobody here knew me, I have been posting a lot of art and poetry and articles when suddenly I fell sick with typhoid and malaria I couldn't even post anymore I had to go to the hospital but I couldn't afford any money then because my boss has laid me off because I was unhealthy to work, so I had a post put up on steemit about my fairing health and well it wasn't too long a Nigerian who never even knew me that much she is called @ogoowinner decided to send me 2 SBD it wasn't much but I used it to buy drugs, before I was strong enough to be on my feet, it was a small gesture but till today, it's a kindness i myself cannot forget

Thanks for letting me know about this and I'm happy that you're feeling better!

sorry that as big as possible, to you, I don't understand you mean, because I newcomer steemit, for me good it makes other people happy and beneficial to the lain.contohnya like you, you have made a lot of other people happy and give the benefits for many people, thank you for all you have to say.

always gat something new

You are a kind-hearted man. Your posts are impregnated with kindness. Thank you for Your support. If it was on the ground and on Steemit more such people, life would be better. Thank you that You have. All the best to You!!!

This week I went very fast I could not make my post with the embarrassing fact, I am owed the moss and now this, tomorrow I present this and on Thursday I am presenting the moss.
This week the topic is very interesting, I have no doubt that you will have a lot of audience, here on the platform there are many very generous people, You are one of them
I wish you a wonderful day dear friend @ kus-knee

I've done little bits here and there though I don't believe in people begging. So I'm weary of people asking for help especially those that PM on chats.

A gracious heart.... Here is my entry to the contest

Another wonderful community project from him.I am glad that we have you here with us
-cheers-

My most kind act this week - gift of one of my accounts, which I created long ago for spreading spam @dobroman. I presented this account to a very good person, my friend - Alexandr. He is just starting his creative work on steemit. I believe that he will succeed. With a teacher like me, he can not fail. Alexander - very kind and decent person. He recently became a father and he does not have much free time. But, I'm sure that he can become respected user of Steemit and earn money here for decent future for his son.

Exactly 100 words

Very interesting post. Thank you for sharing

One of the things that I love most about Steemit is the quality of the people who form it. This is the kindest act to me:

This is my small contribution to your wonderful call dear friend @ kus-knee.
I also want to emphasize that you are also a very kind person, you have shown it for a long time here on the platform, thank you very much for the support you give to my work, it is very important for me
I wish you a wonderful day
https://steemit.com/testimonialtuesday/@jlufer/testimonial-tuesday-week-two-an-act-of-kindness

I do not wanna promote things I have done, would maybe sound selfish or self promo - I have received a lot of nice things here, feedback, support, nice words, encouragement, critique and learned a lot from great people that took the time to explain things to me. I might mention @twinner here who always been patient with a noob explaining how the crypto world and steemit in particular works. But there are many more I could mention here.

When I started there was also one nice guy called Mr. Bones that was simply sending me some SBD just to encourage me and show appreciation. Really thankful for this still and will never forget. Namaste @kus-knee !

Oooh thanks! Yes, maybe those bones are worth something now if you buried them!!! :)

Yes I'm looking for things other people did for you not what you did for others. That would be weird as you said.

Trying to spread some love and positive vibes!
