7 World’s Continents Photo Challenge – Asian Sunday week #22 – winner announcement!

@thuylannguyen Asian Sunday entry:

This is my photo taken during a trip to Sa Pa in Lao Cai province, Vietnam. Sa Pa Town is located in Lao Cai Province, north-west Vietnam, close to the border with China. Sapa Town is famous both for its fine, rugged scenery and for its rich cultural diversity. Sapa is oriented to make the most of the spectacular views emerging on clear days; it overlooks a plunging valley, with mountains towering above on all sides. Views are often subdued by thick mist rolling across the peaks, but even when it's cloudy, local hill-tribe people fill the town with colour.

Australasian Gannet (Morus serrator) flying high above an angry ocean off Muriwai Beach on the North Island of New Zealand. I took this shot with a Canon EOS 50D, and Sigma 70-200 f2.8 at ISO 400, 107.0 mm (169.5 mm in 35mm), f/11, and 1/1250s.

Wow, beautiful shot! The angry waves... the yellow head of the bird adds a nice bright touch to the main tone.

I love it, you have captured a great mood in this image! The smell of freedom without any worries...

Another sunset at Baltic Sea. This time wide angle used to catch most of the horizontal scene with a reflection of the long waves hitting the sand coastline.

Bloody clouds bringing some more life ant interesting composition, as well as stones in the foreground

Enjoy the scenery!

World class! @axeman ROCKS!

We were in Fiji's Denarau Island, strolling on the beach on one of the resorts. It was late in the afternoon and it had been a nice sunny day, but a storm was brewing. In midst of the golden sunset we could see storm clouds closing in and it started getting windy. I quickly took this shot before the storm hit.

Thank you so much for your contribution. Great shot! Have a good one. Tomas

The Atlantic Ocean portrayed on the beach of Zambujeira do Mar
(Alentejo region, southweast Portugal). The photograph was taken during twilight with the intention to immortalize the waves hitting the rocks ...

Awesome shot! I believe you successfully immortalized the waves... ;)

Thanks Donica @itchyfeetdonica ;)
Cheers!

Thank you so much for sharing this image! What a beauty!

Flower in the ocean.

One of the most incredible sunsets in my life was in Greenland. It was not only incredible overflows of warm colors on the surface of the ocean and the surrounding mountains. Most importantly, we did not see off this sunset alone. With us were sea giants - humpback whales who decided to decorate the landscape with their tails, like flowers that open above the water.

Well, that sure is a very pretty flower:)

I took this image in the El Golfo Valley of the Island El Hierro at sunset. The cool thing about this beach are the numerous big black round-shaped lava rocks. When I climbed along the shore I discovered a huge cliff sticking out from the ocean. With the rocks in the foreground this was a nice motive...

Thank you so much for sharing this beauty! Fantastic shot!

The Statue of Liberty, a welcome sight for so many immigrants to America after a long voyage across the Atlantic Ocean, this icon of freedom still stands out to those visiting New York Harbor.

My entry:

Waters from Papua New Guinea are full of life and colors. You can find here a good example about that we can find as soon as we have the head underwater.

Great! One more underwater photographer joining my challenge! What a beautiful image. Thank you so much for your submission. Tomas

With pleasure when I can submit an underwater photography.

Actually not an Antarctica, but this photo reminds me of it. Completely frozen lake of Galve with surreal fog over it and Castle of Trakai "floating" somewhere between sky and ground. When I arrived to this location, I just stood for about 5 min and enjoyed the scenery... Hope everyone will enjoy this beauty as much as I did.

I found this interesting rock formation on the Cordoama beach in Portugal and had struggled to find the right position on the wet stones, wiping the lens, covering my camera from splashes and trying to capture the contrast between the motion of water and stillness of rock.

What an amazing image! I believe all your efforts for shooting this deserve to win. =)

What an image! Stunning!

Thank you Tomas!

Both the entries are amazing but specially photo of Sa Pa Town is really Magnificent taken by @thuylannguyen. Thanks for hosting great contest we found great photos at your blog.

Wild wild ocean

It's a crazy one-sided relationship. Humans depend on water. No water, no life. This scene was captured in New Zealand - West coast of the Southern Island. Pretty cloudy day, the waves hitting hard against the rocks. Between the rocks the water was shooting up several meters and the wind was blowing the water drops through the air. Nature at its best.

This picture i took at sunset trip on cruise ship from one my friend. We go with good friends around South Phuket - Nai Harn Beach area and around small islands around. Bcz most of my friends are Italian with Italian restaurants, the food was great and the sunset view? You can see yourself..:)

I love shooting photos of surfers trying to balance themselves on wild ocean waves. I was in Hawaii four years ago and for me this is one of the best places to observe and shoot pictures. Luckily, I am a pretty good surfer myself (but not even close to most guys out there), and a water polo player which definitely helps when trying to take photos from up close with these wild waves. After a few failed attempts, I shot this one. What I like about it is that it really visualizes the sheer power of the waves in Hawaii. The guy managed to conquer the waves like no other, for which I can only give applause.

This is the aerial view from an eight-passenger seated plane, when we were flying from the mainland Puerto Rico to the smaller island of Vieques. Enjoy the amazing seascape of the Caribbean and the lush green vegetation on the tropical islands! =)

Thailand 2016, just outside of Koh Phi Phi we found the most beautifull views and underwater marine life. Its a shame my camera isn't waterproof. Several boats leave every morning to take you to Maja Bay and so on. Stunning!! I'm sorry the horizon isn't straight, but in my opinion the sea shouldn't be.

_DSC4277.JPG

Great image. I am going to have to check that area out when I move to Thailand in the future. I never thought about getting a waterproof casing for my camera and taking pictures of the marine life until I came across your post. I am going to have to start looking into that.

Hi, I never thought about it too, but I still don't think I will get one soon. It's big, unhandy and I don't use it that much as I want to use it on my holidays. So I'm thinking about getting a go pro instead. Great images and a lot smaller. Plus it is useful on mainland.. Just saying

The clownfish or anemonefish have become one of the most populair fish since the animationfilm " Finding Nemo". These fish lives on mutually symbiotic partnership with anemones.
They always makes me smile during my dives, so nice and funny

Iceland has one of the nicest glacial lakes on the world. It is called Jokulsarlon and it is connected with North Atlantic Ocean so it actually forms a lagoon. From there you see a lot of amazing photos and I hope you will also like mine.

Ready to go snorkeling, who's getting that boat?
One of us had to go through the this amazing turquoise water to get the boat anchored away from the beach. A slow walk in the warm water hoping no to cross paths with a shark :)

Location: Near Exmouth, Australia.

amazing pics. did you take them by yourself?

This is the edge of the Atlantic Ocean in the town of Ålesund in western Norway. Ålesund is one of the most beautiful cities I've had the chance to visit. I was there for two days. The first day had weather like this, big, low lying clouds over the entire city. Thankfully, the second day, the clouds disappeared to give bright sun so I have two different versions in my photos!
IMG_6750.jpg

Wow those colour changes in the ocean floor are beautiful.

I decided to come up with something a bit more unusual for the ocean photo contest today. I took this shot of my little crabby fella on an isolated beach between Playa del Carmen and Tulum on Riviera Maya, Mexico. I know its him who will get all your attention but the Caribbean Sea is still there, in the background, so hopefully it qualifies :) Photo taken a few months ago.

IMG_20171109_125231-edit.jpg

Crab pictures are awesome! You can't forget those goofy little crustaceans that scurry around the beaches and pinch your feet and then look at you with their beady little eyes. Here is a picture of my wife and her new friend from out trip to the beach over the summer.
wwest170815_6726.jpg

Haha, what a description! Is your wife's new friend dead?

Unfortunately yes, it was a sad day at the beach. We weren't even able to find its family to notify them of its passing. The smell was horrendous but we gave the crab a proper burial at sea and had a moment of silence as he drifted off with the tide.

wow great shots ! do you ever use any filters dear Tomas?
and this is one of my panorama shots I took it in one of my trips to the north , here is the beach of CaspianSea .

This huge stingray I met in the Maldives. As the group of divers approached, he a little rose and began to turn sideways to us. How high these stingrays have a big spike at the tail. This is their main weapon. Given that the size of the stingray was about me, the spike should be the size of a full spear.

View of the Pacific Ocean from the top of Koko Head on the island of Oahu, Hawaii. You can often see migrating whales just off this coast as they pass by through the early parts of the year often jumping just a couple hundred feet of shore. The crystal blue water makes this a perfect place to take photos and soak in the beautiful views.
