Burgers, Bridges, Boats, and Bays -North Bend, Oregon

Hello, again, and welcome back to Oregon! Today on our itinerary, we are visiting the beautiful area of North Bend, Oregon in Coos County. We are going to visit two different parts of the bay. One is near some boat docks where we will see the monstrous and commanding 'Forest Trader' docked to resupply, and the other is on a road across the water out to the beautiful location of 'Horsefall Beach.' If you are hungry, like we were, then you can enjoy a local smokehouse/mobster style restaurant with us, called 'Vinny's!' So, join us, for another @badseedalchemist's travelfeed.io short, special!

We slid back into the Coos Bay area in the afternoon. The temperature was rather warm, and though it had been rainy for the last couple days, the bad weather had retreated, gracefully to it's corner of the ring to get patched up for the next round. In the time between, we took the opportunity to snap some really nice photo's of the area. When the rain returned, after the sun had set, we got a hefty but deliciously smoky bite to eat from a tiny smokehouse restaurant with a unique theme.

Our first stop -the North Bend, Boardwalk and the prestigious ship, called, 'Forest Trader.'

This magnificent ship, seen docking just north of the North Bend, Boardwalk, is resupplying for it's next journey out into the perilous waters of the Pacific. The ship arrived here, in Coos Bay on December 17, 2019. It is a bulk carrier, cargo ship, weighing a massive, 21,158 tons. Still in it's youth, the behemoth was built only in 2013 and flies under the Panama flag. Before docking here, it made the long voyage from Kure, Hiroshima, on November 22, 2019.

We sat here for a while, enjoying the light breeze and taking our little Jack Russel Parson's on a short walk. We talked, quite a bit about STEEM and also read a couple of posts together. One of them, was a very inspiring post by @mindtrap, that culled the reader with some thought provoking and positive direction regarding the future of STEEM community and monetary value. It was fun, and relaxing. When we were through, we packed ourselves back into the van and I fired it up. Let's go for a drive!

The next location? The bridge crossing -hope you aren't scared of heights!

This is the Conde B. McCullough, Memorial Bridge. It is a cantilever bridge constructed in the years 1934-1936. After it's build was complete, in 1936, it was the longest bridge in Oregon and later nicknamed 'The Mile Long Bridge.' During and immediately after construction, the bridge was called the Coos Bay bridge. In 1947, it was dedicated to it's designer, who passed away in 1946, and renamed after him. In 2005, the 5,305 foot bridge was recognized as outstanding for it's attention to form and detail, and was placed on the National Register of Historic Places. We crossed the grand, McCullough bridge on our way over towards Horsefall Beach.

I captured this photo while driving across the bay waters toward Horsefall beach at dusk. The magnitude of wonder experienced here can not be captured, even by our spectacular LG smartphone camera. ;P

After spending some quality time with each other at Horsefall, we were famished, and decided to find something tasty to eat. There was a little smokehouse style grill in North Bend called, Vinny's, that neither of us had been to yet. I am SO glad that we went! The menu style was unique and playful. All of the dishes had names that were relative to the mob and famous mobsters. I, personally, had the Hitman burger. Topped with bacon, mushrooms and cheese, paired with some Cajun style fries, this dish was deliciously smokey and mouth-watering.

Hitman Burger and fries:

**My beautiful and intelligent girlfriend, who is also just getting started here on STEEM with me @audiefaith, had the pulled-pork sandwich with it's creative name, Ba-Da-Bing-Ba-Da-Boom. She had hers served with parmesan fries and we washed our meal down with Coke and Doctor Pepper. Here's that pulled-pork for you.

The incredibly smokey, Ba-Da-Bing-Ba-Da-Boom pulled-pork sandwich with parmesan style french fries:

We ate with a good friend, who had the Wiseguy burger. We bullshit with each other and ate, sharing stories and reminiscing. The time during our visit flew. Especially, when he showed me a video of an unmanned rocket putting satellites in space and then landing, standing straight up! Incredible video, if you haven't seen it, look it up. Damn, NASA!

After our visit to Vinny's, we stepped out into the lightly cool rain and talked to our friend for a while. We puffed on filter-less cigarettes and knocked the bottom out of our coffee thermos. All-in-all, it was a great day.

I hope that you have enjoyed your virtual visit to Oregon! Thanks for reading! Give me a follow and a vote if you liked it and have a happy holiday!
